Intel makes GPUs?

I thought they where only integrated...
all video cards are GPUs, not all GPUs are video cards

After overclocking, there isn't much of a performance difference for gaming.

large difference in GTA V and Far Cry 4 and decent increases in a couple other games... don't see your point

The only other option I can think of is having them be print bricks. Have prints of a solid color (skin colors) that when applied would cover the hands and head of the blockhead. If someone wanted to change the skin tone they would simply pull out their printer.
that's... a very interesting idea. ill see what I can do

i'm probably going to completely redo the brick pack from scratch. reduce polys and make the weapon models better with more variety (like rocket launcher, whatever else comes to mind)

i could def do the whole switching system with poses being switched through events (although ill probs make them spawn with an onactivate event)

overlapping system is very easy to do.

skin color is the problem. it would require me to make 5 different bricks instead of 1 brick. pain in the ass, would clutter up the brick menu. i might halve the brick count by doing the door system, only to make it 5 times more with skin color. i was thinking, that since the blockheads are 2 bricks tall, having the head/arms one brick, and the body with weapon another brick. this also isn't a great solution, could cause incompatabilities with different positions, since all the blockheads would have to be in the same position. still thinking about it

linus tech tips forums presents: how to mount a corsair water cooling kit on your GTX 980 Ti

step 1: drill a hole into PCB to line up mounting holes (even though instructions state that the last hole doesn't need to be lined up)

step 2: after realizing it isn't working, stick a screwdriver in the hole to "simulate soldering"
step 3: ????

What is Cities: Skylines? Some sort of Sim City?
yeah. more emphasis on handling traffic rather than in-depth city simulation though.

Games / Re: HTC Vive will be $799
« on: March 02, 2016, 10:48:58 PM »
The HTC Vibe will cost almost $1500AU, not including postage, after taxes and currency exchange. I also imagine that shipping will ramp the price right up, and that orders will take 2+ weeks to ship (whereas Oculus units arrive within days).

This is a major problem. HTC/Valve should be encouraging developers to jump on-board with lower priced, stock kits, but they'd rather inflate the price by adding gimmicky, unnecessary toys that all developers already have. Instead of getting developers on-side so that more apps can produced for the hardware, they're going to push developers to go with the long cheaper Oculus (which has been out longer, has cheap resale products and overall has taken a much better approach) or away from VR itself.

I'm currently sticking with Oculus/Cardboard development. I cannot jump onto a ship that's clearly unstable.

Also, for any people arguing that Australia has a higher minimum wage; we also have much higher living expenses and are taxed higher, so in the end it should balance out, but with our dollar plummeting (due to demand in coal, our major export, dropping massively) we're now being given the short end of the stick for the entire video game market.
the final vive isn't exactly made to be a dedicated developer kit - that was the purpose of the vive DK1 and the vive pre. the final vive is a dedicated consumer version and is meant to have "gimmicky toys" come with it (wait, what exactly are you referencing to?).

these are classic australia prices at work. oculus cv1 isn't exactly cheap either: ~$1100AU

if you add touch controllers that you'll have to buy separately later on, the costs are probably going to be relatively similar. currently it comes bundled with a goddamn xbox controller. like, seriously? wtf. the vive's motion controllers that come with the kit (no need to buy separately) are far better suited for VR

vive also has proper room scale support (while rift's implementation is lacking afaik)

the ship isn't exactly "unstable" considering both headsets are selling EXTREMELY well (as far as i know)

So my GTX 960 4gb is not enough?

depends on the specific games, oculus store and steam's vr titles are guaranteed to work on GTX 970 and up on decent settings and >90FPS, it is up to developers if they want to support lower-end hardware

Off Topic / Re: Nvidia GTX 980 or 970

Which brand of the GTX 970 would you guys say would be a good buy? I've been eyeballing the Gigabyte version of the 970.
gigabyte; nice oc potential, lowest temps out of probably all GTX 970 models, not too loud.

although, id consider an R9 390 as well

Not sure he realizes that the target demographic is mostly kids (who, by the way, LOVE repetition - in fact, they often prefer it), and if it's successful, is actually a great business model. The only people who have an issue with this are people who are usually out of the recommended age range, lol.
i was mostly referring to the first part, a software company laying off all of its employees because they are done working on a product. like, how do you come up with this
programmers are pretty damn valuable and laying all of them off after finishing a product is like the worst business practice that could exist
