General Discussion / On the topic of L4B servers...

Well, I've tried a lot of zombie servers on Blockland, majority of which are hosted by noobs, or huge-egoed folks on a power trip.  I really enjoyed the few good zombie servers I've been on, but lately there has been a drought.

Basically, would anyone here consider joining another zombie server?  I know there have been a ton, but I hope to make this one good without all the crap you get now.

The build is gonna use some extra bricks (3x, 5x, 8x, ramp inverted, etc.).
It's gonna use some extra weapons.
It's gonna use a new colorset.
It's also gonna use some extra vehicles.
And it's gonna use RTB.

So, for those folks who don't have the pleasure of having all the add-ons I have, you'll obviously have to download, maybe quite a few.

This will be the first server I have put up (so you'll have to deal with me working the kinks out), and will not (and probably never) be dedicated.

Please post your suggestions and feedback, and tips on how to run a zombie server.

Also, what do you folks think is a good player limit for the server?  I've seen 4, and I've also seen 8.  IMO, 8 is more fun.

That's what cracks me up about 10000 ID limits, besides the fact that they're completely idiotic in the first place, but do you really think that the guy with the 9999 and less ID is that much better?

Double standards, they worked for the United States government for 200 years, why shouldn't they work for you?

can save your addons folder and reinstall

if still dont work then you can assume its addons that are causing it lol

...it worked perfectly without the MUSIC, with ALL of my addons, so there is something wrong with the MUSIC.

Disabling all music helped, works perfectly now.  Now I gotta find out what music files are causing the error.

Well, I've been having a good time using the download manager with RTB, and have been getting quite a few add-ons, making sure that people are not having problems with them and that they have passed inspection.

So now, even with all default add-ons, I cannot start up any game, either using "start a game" or "tutorial", because Blockland will freeze when I press it.  I immediately alt-tab to the console, and it is loading all the add-ons just fine, until it gets to "executing config/server/musicList.cs".

So common sense says there is something wrong with that file, right?  So I edit it (carefully) to make sure that all the music files it recognizes are the ones I have in my "addons/music" folder.  That checks out.  I try it again, still no beans, frozen at the exact same spot.

If anyone could help that would be majorly apreciated.

Yeah was on a server with that charles dude, he's a troll.

Was also on a noob help server, then Lord Tony (another known Troll, ID List (while restarted too many times) ftw!) joined and set up a script that randomly killed everybody in the server at random intervals, until we got the noob who asked for help (the host) to clear his bricks.

Just to kick off the drama on another foot, I'm getting pretty loving tired of Svenne bitching about how crappy Blockland is and how everything about it is awful and how he'd much rather pay $20 for RTB 1.045 instead.

I know the phrase is so over-used that most recipients of it have become numb to its meaning, but please - "die in a fire".

Enough hijacking, just make a Svenne-hating thread in the Drama forum if you'd like.  I think the drama on this thread is over.

Anyways, how do folks like my avatar?

Well, I said something pretty stupid yesterday, but I was encouraged by other people saying stupid things at the same time.

I joined the Iban RPG server, which is awesome, but I had meant to click on another TDM server.

So I'm loading for the server, which I don't exit out of because it's always fun to check on Iban's server, and I say in the chat,

"Woops, I joined the wrong server"

Then a fellow named Meeses says,

"There's nothing wrong with this server, shut up" (stupid thing number 1)

I then proceed to tell him that saying that I joined the wrong server is completely different from saying that there's something wrong with the server, while he proceeds to not listen and only reply to say "it's RPG, not RP, noob" over and over.

So then, I carry on my way, kind of angry that the guy won't reply.  I hadn't said anything to him for a while, and was in the middle of asking Iban how the system for calculation ratios from ores to money works at the labor board, when Meeses says,

"And learn to spell, you noob"

Well, I was taken aback, I usually try to spell words correctly, maybe a typo slipped up somewhere, so I *smartly* replied,

"What words have I misspelled?"(stupid thing number 2)

...

"Besides that one..."

Everybody immediately starts laughing, including myself.
