Heh, I remember the delusions of grandeur I had as a kid.  Thinking I was the manager of the playground, thinking I was the manager of the cafeteria, etc.

What's sad is that this kid thinks he's the manager of the internet.

I wouldn't be too harsh on him though, you can tell he's only 9 by the way he says "can't give many clues", "must seem a little interested" "will change FOREVER", etc.

If you're talking about moving the planets in real life part you're a bigger dumbass than I thought and you're a pretty big dumbass.

Apparently your sarcasm detector was made by the same people who make the brakes for Priuses.

Didn't get the server up last evening, sorry folks.

I will definitely change the topic title and bump when I do, though, so watch for that.

@Carly...

The map isn't meant to be (nor was it ever intended to be) a simulation of our solar system. The distances between the planets present in the original map are in no way an appropriate representation of their real-world counterparts. Attempting to be realistic was a flaw in my original design, one I don't intend to repeat. It isn't useful, but rather harmful, from a game-play perspective to have the planets spaced as such.

Spherical planets with real-world textures are great from the stand point of being instantly recognizable to the player, but don't really fit with the simplistic, angular, theme expressed in almost every facet of BL. In addition to that, it presents some technical challenges and shortcomings in terms of implementation that further discourage their use. My intention is to instead use "cubular" planets that will fit with the style of BL and offer numerous improvements over the old system. Whilst it may not be necessary for every single map/item/vehicle to fit into the style of the game, it certainly makes sense when it also improves gameplay, performance, and helps avoid unnecessary technical challenges.

It appears my reference to exploration has been grossly misinterpreted. I don't intend to fill the map with easter eggs; I simply want to include some unique building spaces that may inspire players to build something other than boring, repetitive, square structures. For example, I'd like to have some hollowed-out asteroids that players can build elaborate bases in, and hopefully I can add some varied terrain/weather to planets. In this way, the map can be more than just some semi-spherical build spaces placed miles apart from each other.

I understand the desire to play as a space-taxi-driver, but I am still inclined to reduce the distance between planets. Perhaps not to the degree that you can simply jet over from planet to planet  with your "jet-feet", but close enough that it doesn't take 5 minutes to get there.

How about we have one version that's the original version that everyone likes, and yours will simply be another version.  Everyone wins.

I agree, it's a shame that the map is proportionally accurate, and in real life we should take all the planets and force them right next to eachother. That way it'll take thirty seconds to leap from Earth to Mars.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean there...

Exactly. Everyone knows that you can't explore at all in space. We know exactly what's out there. It's a shame. This map should be less simple. I mean, look at slate. Slate is insanely complex. You can explore for hours and hours, you never know what you'll find.

So much win in this post.

My ingame is Duckmeister, yeah.

I'll have the server up sometime later today.

Caution, your store was not homoloveual, nor was it badly built, I'd suggest you come back and finish it.

You are a moron.

"Music is a matter of opinion" is a fact.

Music is a matter of opinion is a fact is a matter of opinion is a fact.

Yep.

263
Btw, blue is the best color, and anyone who disagrees is handicapped.

264
It is a fact that music is based on opinion. The reason I say that is because people tend to bicker about what bands are good and what bands are bad. It's redundant to argue about how good a band is because it's entirely opinion.

I don't think you understand.  No one is arguing about how good a band is.  The only problem is you, claiming that when it's one opinion against another the negative opinion always loses for an arbitrary reason.  Why?

"Flobots are great" and "flobots suck" are both opinions.

265
The quality of a band's music is based entirely on the opinion of the listener. No matter how bad you think a band is, people out there will still like it.

If you disagree, yo can go forget yourself.

Why do you always bring this up in any topic about music, when it's self-defeating anyhow?

The quality of a listener's opinion on the quality of a band's music is based entirely on the opinion of the poster.  No matter how much of an opinion it is, people out there still disagree with it.

Just because a statement is an opinion doesn't mean I can't disagree with it.  Opinions are not these all-powerful statements of protection that allow you to just say whatever you want and no one can disagree with you.  Opinions are just that, opinions, someone's take on the subject, right or wrong.

I usually say that Radiohead is the best band of all time.  That is an opinion.  People disagree with it.  Whatever.  But I say "Flobots suck" and your reaction is "YOU CAN'T DO THAT IT'S HIS OPINION!".  What's up with that?

Neither did I,what ruined it was Tony idioticly anouncing that he was Iron Man.

That was the best part of the first one.  It was such a "take that" to all of the "secret identity" superhero tropes that most superhero films are about.  That was one of the things that made it one of the best superhero movies of all time.  OF ALL TIME.

The beats suck,I just like the lyrics, from it escelating from riding the bike without handlebars,to killing everyone in a holocaust.

You're strange.  Almost everybody likes a song for the beat, in spite of the lyrics.  Perhaps your taste in music is so influenced by popular culture that you have changed what you like about a song in order to justify in your own mind why you like music that you don't actually like.

Flobots and Black Eyed Peas were always terrible.

Green Day was really, really good early on, but afterwards it just became this pop-goth mess of repetitive songs with suicidal lyrics.

Def suck up post

Did I name yours in particular?  It was obviously a slightly generalized statement.  Would it make you feel better about yourself if I said "4 out of the 5 posts afterwards were obvious suck-up posts"?

What I really love is how as soon as Badspot posted, five people immediately posted after him with obvious suck-up posts.  How pathetic.

I can do a great Scotty (from Star Trek), but I can't do a good Demoman, for whatever reason.  I can nail the "I'm givin' her all she's got, captain, I don't think she can take it any longer!" but I screw up on the "What makes me a good Demoman?".

I usually practice some accents while I'm driving, but I've never actually had a problem where I couldn't go back to a normal accent.

I can't do eastern european accents at all.  For some reason, I just can't get it to sound right no matter what.

My normal accent isn't really tied to any specific place, since I've moved from place to place even when I was a child.  I never really picked up any local accents because my family was never anywhere long enough to do so.  So it's kind of a conglomerate of Western accents.
