General Discussion / New Years 2021? What happenin'?

We got 5 days- y'all know the drill.

But like, what's happening this year? Game's kinda dead yet again, and from what I remember from last year's largely disappointing take on a New Year's fest, "New Year", or whoever owns that account, isn't doing the servers anymore. And as well, you'd typically see a passworded, "New Year's Dev" server for a good few weeks in December, but I've been popping in and out lately to check on BL's server listings, and I'm pretty sure I only saw something related to "New Years" only once around like late November.

This is probably not the place to talk about it, but forget it, I'll take a baddy ass-raping for the team. Blockland 2/Brickadia's gotten like, a player spike of 500+ connected peeps since its alpha 5 release. They just came out with a patch yesterday, I think literally on Christmas Day, so now it's gonna get more traction yet again. Is the celebration moving over to BC? I'd hate to lose all the content that BL already has for 2021NY, specifically pertaining Events, Scripts, Hatmod, and overall just the whole like, loving backbone of this game that is the Add-On scene...but Brickadia's been poppin' off.

So what's the move? Do you think everyone's gonna return to Blockland again for what could potentially be the final annual magnum opus stuffpost? Or has the community finally moved over to Brickadia's incomplete (but damn gorgeous) redux?

Modification Help / how the forget do you make a /hub thing

k i know i asked years ago, but i genuinely don't know how you'd go about making a /hub command or something alike, that just forces a the client back to a default minigame, or some specified mini within a script.cs or maybe that server/admin menu or something.

I've needed a mod like this for like 2 years and I have no forgetin idea how I'd even start. There's so many servers that already do this like Rose's, or even like the occasional falling tiles server, hell I think even that BCS server has something to bring you back. Like genuinely, i got this gucci server at a standstill bc it don't have a /hub command to take you back from some mini-minigames. Yeah i could do some kinda button or some stuff but it's kinda niche, also intrusive af.

Maybe there's some kinda gamemode script I could butcher into a /hub cmd, but I genuinely need a fix that's not giant, "BACK TO HUB" signs with a small button to press. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to just how you'd go about making such a cmd I'd be happy to throw my face at a wall figuring out how torquescript works and how tf you'd actually use the minigame parameters in a command execution. Maybe I could reference /leaveminigame, but still, don't even know the parameter to force someone to switch minigames.

Suggestions & Requests / Missing my own server's save file.

Can't believe I have to ask for this...

I used to host this "Ocaro Island" constantly on an old laptop for a while...and then the loving thing died. stuff won't boot up, and I'm hella forgeted if I have to use a super old save file.

It was this island thing, basically a huge island hub with a stuffload of activities. I was going to make it public someday...loving hate myself that I didn't do it recently.

This should be a good reference shot.



Did anybody happen to pass it by one day, check it out, and just save the world at all? Literally any piece of it would be insanely helpful, especially since the majority of the work from my most recent save versus the older one is on the main island almost exclusively.

II can get the assets back, that's not too hard of a chore. But I think the most recent save was literally only on the laptop itself.

Ok like, we have ChatEmotes, could we get sound emotes? Ik Rose already has it on her deathrun server but like could something like this go public? like an addon that allows you to put SFX in either its ZIP or a folder and plays them with /SFX (filename) or something.

Just came to my mind, how much fun would a Golf sport be? Ik that we have minigolf, but like an actual gold server with putters, drivers, and wedges, it would be pretty fun to make something like that.

Modification Help / Readdressing the "Phantom Poly" Static Terrain bug

So, spoiler alert: I got The Slopes working with v21.

I had to decimate the hell out of it and reduce it's poly-count so I could make tris and quads suitable for collision in v21's static engine without taking up an assload of datablocks. There's just one main problem- With a map as big and complicated as this, there's collision issues involving offset raycasting.

To make it clear- player and bot collision works fine and is 100% functional. This bug seems to only affect things which are bound by raycasting.

When a vehicle is used, it won't follow the terrain in the same way that player collision or bot collision does. Flat areas work fine, however once a vehicle goes over a hill with an odd angle, the car will either sink into the ground or drive above it on a short 'invisible poly'. What's super odd about this is that if I were to drive up the area again in another direction, sometimes I'll collide with the terrain just fine.

I've had this bug before when I had first made my first buggy-mess of a map, "Kerumi Valley", where I had dubbed the mysterious error as "Phantom Poly". This is because I noticed that with every tri in the map, there was a "Phantom Tri" that would accompany it, making it into a quad that would only effect of what I suspect is raycasting, as only ghostbricks, bricks, and vehicles seemed to have the error. (I don't know how or if it affects weapons/tools.)

I have reason to suspect that Non-Planar Faces might be causing this issue, as bent-quads seem to also possess this bug. I'll look into it soon. However for now, I just want to know if anybody else has gotten this error while working with staticmaps. If you have another solution or recommendation, please reply with your thoughts. (Or if you're just excited that Slopes is coming to v21 then scream your face off.)

EDIT: Oh yeah I forgot a download link. Here's a temp version of the project, not in its final build quality, but if anybody wants to play around with the map before it's finished, go ahead.

Is there an add-on or a simple way to event a periodical point-granting system in BL? Pretty much I want to let points slowly generate over time while you're in a hub world, idk about AFK-farming or anything. I know there's a way to set this up via a lot of basic events, but I'd rather have a simple event or some server setting.

And gonna say this bc people kept asking this in the really old topic: No, neither the Stunt Buggy nor the Freestyle Buggy count, a Beach buggy is completely different.

THIS IS NOT A MODTER MAP!

I've made a functioning static-terrain map for Blockland v21! I've created this map from scratch and painted it with textures from Demian's Ground_Demian pack.

I call it Kerumi Valley, its a walled in map with 2 lakes connected by a small river that runs through some mountainous hills.

It was designed as a map to test the functionality of The Slopes, which I have been working on porting for quite a long time. That, and more maps are coming soon, but for now, feel free to check out this map!

DOWNLOAD:   Map_Kerumi_Valley
(To get the map working, just use it as you would a regular addon! Make sure no other Map Add-ons are running!)
