Most western states do not deserve to be anywhere on that list at the moment
they never should of been

And hooh boy, did that lead somewhere different."

The notion of “freedom” was historically and remains intertwined with Whiteness, as historian Tyler Stovall has argued. The belief that one’s entitlement to freedom is a key component of White supremacy.

You heard it here first, Freedom is tribal.

the point you're missing is that corporations and governments are not going to change their behavior substantially enough, soon enough, to make the difference
The point you're missing is that, even if this disastrous world ending climate change was actually going to happen in 2038 (which it isn't), lying to people over the
course of decades along side using panic to get people moving won't help anyone.

The best thing we can do is try to invest and look into innovative technologies to avoid increasing issues in the climate.

Not shut down our existing infrastructure, costing lives and livelyhoods of people worldwide.

it isn't, and it literally has never been, in the entire history of humanity. otherwise we would not be where we are
the only thing that is hopeless is stopping climate change. rip to humanity in general but we still got like 100 years that we can make better
We only have until the 1990s to stop Acid Rain. We also only have until the 2010s to stop Global Warming.

It's not nearly as bad as we're told, the activists are just trying to use fear to light a fire under people's asses, but lying to get
people's attention is a surefire way to turn people against you.

Not inherently the US, so I won't make it it's own post in the OP.

Does anyone know what it would take to have a Mod release on Steam?

Like how some games are mods for other games?

Because if we did Decomp Blockland, and make an community mod that would be managed by someone who is more interested in keeping Blockland alive,
We might be able to revive Blockland.

I get what you're saying but I'd argue that if you ever look at the Blockland Content Creator discord of around 500 members, roughly 100 of them are online at a time.

I think what we're failing to mention (if it hasn't been already) is that Blockland has moved beyond the need for this forum as a niche audience game. The forum reminds most of us of a darker time when it was drama threads or off-topic rants or whatever. Communication has evolved and posting every once in a while on a forum has turned into posting every once in a while in a discord chat.

And also think about how your own social life on the internet has changed- I don't really look at the forums on my phone much because its antiquated and not really optimized for a mobile device. But discord has push notifications directly in front of my face so I always know when a new mod is dropped or if there's a discussion about something interesting.

There is still community for this game, I just think the stagnation can be attributed to how we interact with it outside of the game itself.
I agree, but also disagree.

Communication is the problem as much as it's the solution.

We've divided the community into so many individual sects that we have no cohesive community, and that's in part because the community
was left to decay and "care for itself."

As I've said, there's only so much the community itself can do.

As for mods, I still find it fustrating that the SteamWorkshop was never set up for Blockland even after RTB and Ephialtes was alienated by Badspot bringing
the game to Steam.

workshop has been a very popular request since the game released on steam. in fact, badspot did comment on it once before:no one really knows why this never happened, although i suspect it may have been because he didn't want to moderate it in addition to the forum. i think this also applied to the steam community hub as a whole, since the discussion page used to be like this
Well he could have transitioned the forum from here to Steam.

seems to me like badspot was hoping that new steam users would just come to the forum instead, since that was the place he was already dealing with, and consequently leaving steam features as an afterthought. of course it would be pointless to flesh out these features now, since the community on the forum is probably bigger than the community on steam.
This makes no sense.
He's locked this forum down, there's no way for new users to come here and post, not that they'd even know to come here.

I mean they shouldn't be allowed to get away with obvious sedition, filing of false reports and
interfering with a federal investigation, But I'm surprised the Death Penalty is being called
to so openly.

A Civil Conflict may be on the Horizon.

More Steam Integration would certainly lead to Blockland gaining a little more traction.

Maybe a sale now and again wouldn't hurt either.

Now, we as a community should not be expected to have no part to play in this, but
we can't do this all on our own.

My window size forgeted it up

Ah.

My criticism on it being the Windows XP to Windows 7 logo still stands.

Simple and clean
Indeed.
Although, I think cutting the row by splitting it into two or three columns in the upper left corner
might help with contrasting the icons against the wallpaper.

Mess. Usually Discord on my second monitor
Dual Monitors are very useful, but I've also found I like the convenience of multiple desktops.
Either way, this set up is very nice, love the icons surrounding the center of focus on the
main desktop wallpaper.

basic wallpaper cuz I'm lazy
Basic, yes, but spanning across two monitors is certainly something to take note of.

Side Note to Neofetch:
Neofetch needs to update their windows logo ascii art, because wow does
that windows logo look lopsided. Also it's not the correct logo for the version
of windows you're using, wtf Neofetch?

switched to linux last nov but never outgrew windows workflow

and yes that is Segoe UI
I switched around last April, I think.
Ironically, I've only recently returned to the Windows Classic style workflow.
Mostly for aesthetic, but in part because my MacOS-Esque layout didn't convert
well to XFCE.

specs: intel core i5 12600k (alder lake), 16gb ddr4, 1tb nvme, 2tb hdd, gtx 1060 6gb (cant upgrade because shortages lol)
nothing overly special but it works. im still one of those funny people that are hardwired to use desktop icons on windows
i also have an intel nuc that runs ubuntu server and hosts https://queeba.industries/ among other stuff, here's the obligatory neofetch so i can get my reddit karma
Updoot.

Also Nice wallpaper, and noticing a trend with Windows 11 users. Left aligning like classic.

I'll have a post-post theory that you might find interesting.

Ubuntu Server, nice. Haven't had a chance or a reason to use any Linux Server distros yet, how's the Experience.

WARNING: Linux Shilling Ahead!

So, over my several years of attempting to convince users to switch to Linux, the number one complaint I receive is "This looks nothing Like Internet Explorer" (the boomer/out of the loop/normie way of saying, it's unfamiliar.)

"People are Creatures of Habit", you know the saying... So here's my theory:

I believe Desktop Environments that function similarly to Windows 10/11 may be more alienating to these types of users than Desktop Environments that function and appear more like Windows 95/98/2000/XP.

I believe Xubuntu + Chicago95 + Chicagofier would be the ideal New-To-Linux experience for Non-Mac, Non-Gamer, Non-Adobe Desktop PC users ages 35+

That's why you should also choose someone whose fanbase isn't mostly made up of kids/edgelords
Also, another issue is that people can't register and post on these forums to show off their creations or ask for help, so they'd have to resort to using... the Steam discussions page 😬

Honestly, how much trouble would it be to enable the Steam Workshop and set up a bit more Community stuff for Blockland?

The default community sub-forums aren't really enough to replace the BLF.

And downloading Add-Ons from the Forum is antiquated and clearly not going to last.

Especially after making Blockland a Steam-Only game, leaving the Workshop disabled is such a boneheaded decision.

Steam users can't get their keys, not that it would matter if they could since the forum registration is disabled.

Why not, just move the function of the Forums over to Steam?

where'd you get that desktop artwork?

This image
Plus I ran it through Photoshop, exported it as a gif with a depth of 16 colors. among a few other settings.
