sounds like drivers are missing or broked.
you install any hardware or drivers for anything else recently? if your using vista they could have auto installed and fudged other unrelated things up.
Autoinstalled drivers rarely cause problems. Worst case scenario they don't get the latest one and you have to get it manually. OH THE HORROR!

An integrated graphics card is just a GPU attached to the motherboard directly. They tend to be weaker because they are cheap and compact. Dedicated graphics cards must be put into a slot on the motherboard, and can be removed / replaced.

I love Vista. The operating system was short lived, but that's only because of the horrible publicity some richardweeds created. I want to do the in place upgrade to 7, because I can't back up stuff to reformat. I'm missing the installers for too many things.
