The universe isn't "expanding".
Galaxies are still moving away from each other, giving the effect of expansion.
It's infinite.
Got any evidence to back that up?

Something did this, but it sure as hell wasn't a cosmic explosion.
then why is the universe expanding?

Find jobs.
just go for any job. always look at the cash reward first though.
Look for Job listings board.

You go find the station's bounty/job terminal and see what kinds of stuff there is to get up to.
Some notable tasks you see are:

Bounty: "Vochn"
Vochn is some mercenary warlord who wronged someone in the past, and now they're willing to pay a lot of money to see him dead. He is a tall blue member of the Syssough race and usually has a small entourage.
Reward: $1200

Derelict Cardalonian Ship Sighting
Someone has found the location of a cardalonian ship, supposedly empty save for it's loot. They are offering anyone the coordinates if they can have 40% of the wealth gained from the ship.
Estimated profit of $2500, they get $1000 and you get $1500.

Mysterious Disappearances
A syndicate lord is currently having trouble with a certain area of space, as most of their trade ships that enter disappear without a trace. They are asking anyone to investigate the cause of these disappearances.
Reward: $1000

Stolen Goods
Pirates working for the Red Blades have plundered a wealthy trading company headquarters and stolen several family antiques. The CEO is willing to pay anyone to get them back, along with most of their money.
Reward: $1500

Contact any of the sources to get more detail on missions?

well first you have to be motivated

Since they know that we know that they know, say yes. Mention the encounter at the mine and the at the research station.

                                : Yes, I have. Twice.
: Could you possibly tell us where?
: Heraxes-Gamma-D, and an outpost at Verandus-152-d.
: You were at Verandus-152-d? They were too?
: You didn't know?
: It's easy to lose information when you're overrun by toraai. I wouldn't be surprised if they directed the toraai fleet to the station as a diversion. A diversion for what?
: To steal the artifact?
: There's an artifact?
: We discovered some eldritch artifact at Heraxes-Gamma-D. That's the reason we were at the outpost.
: And then they stole it? Where is it now?
: It ended up on the surface of Klaell, and was then destroyed by the obelisk-ship, releasing the eldritch.
: How do you know all this?
: We were listening in on their communications with the iconians.
: Clever. I suppose that's all the information we needed. You can go now, and please remember you are bound by Solar Empire law to never publicly disclose the contents of this meeting. We'll know.
: Right. You aren't the first person to tell me that.

You are given back your hat, coat, and gloves, escorted back to the shuttle, and after another silent ride with the sunglasses agent, dropped off at the station.

You currently have no missions or bounties.

357
say the hell no
Tell them that if you reveal that information, you will jeopardize the lives of your crew and yourself.
just say no
explain to them
Say no
Tell them the truth

                                : I... can't say...
: Is that an "I don't know" or an "I can't tell you"?
: Can I go with both?
: Alright, I think it's obvious that you did in fact come in contact with them. They aren't going to hunt you down for this. They know we know, and quite frankly we don't think they care.
: You know about them already? Who are they?
: I'm the one asking questions here. Moving on, did you see what these people looked like?
: Yes.
: Have you seen them prior to the encounter at Klaell?

go with him man
Go with him.
Fine. Go with the Sunglasses.

You go with him, and decide to send Tyrell a message saying you might be a while.

: ...That was weird. Hey, Eredeii, why are you leaving?
: Sorry. This is too good.

The agent takes you to a shuttle in the hangar bay, which flies to an inconspicuous freighter outside the station. Inside, they temporarily confiscate your hat, coat, and gloves, and bring you into what looks like an interrogation room. Another man in a suit is already there, probably to question you.

                                : Sebastian Mace.
: That's my name.
: Have a seat.
: Is this an interrogation?
: No. Not really. We're here to ask you some questions. An interrogation would be much harsher than this.
: That's reassuring. Ask away.
: You were in the Klaell system recently, correct?
: Correct.
: During your time as "naval support", did you happen to encounter any strange ships?
: Other than iconians? There was this one...
: Describe it, please.
: It was blueish and obelisk-like. No windows or anything.
: ...Did you happen to come in contact with that ship or it's inhabitants?

"Got a problem, gray-skin?"
"ICONIANS ARE cigaretteS!!!"
"what are you looking at octopusillanimous individual" #swag

: Oh, what a surprise, another iconian who has issues with humans.
: Excuse me?
: You heard me. What was with that glance?
: Quit with the generalizing. I don't have a problem with humans. My issue is with...

He trails off, and then you feel a tap on your shoulder. Turning around, you see a man in a black suit wearing some kind of visor.

: Sebastian Mace.
: Uh, that's me?
: You're coming with me.

He seems pretty straightforward.
