oh sorry i misunderstood
still steamrolling nk would result in heavy resistance. it would probably be better to undermine their operations and fund some sort of coup and then steamroll in, that way they're already pacified
While this is probably the ideal senario, time is of the essence. The USA has far and away the best defense against ballistic missles in THAAD, but not ICBMS. The NK military is far inferior to sadam's forces in the first gulf war, and the US is far superior in air power/capibility than the gulf war. Via air power alone North Korea could be rendered helpless in a matter of 3-4 hours. People often discount the importance of logistics in war, and this coupled with US forces in Korea along with the very potent SK and Japanese forces could quite literally shread NK in a matter of days. Also, a fact that is underreported is that DRK can only hit the northern most part of seol. Not the entire city. While civilian casualtys are obviously incredibly unideal, projected casualtys by the media is grossly overstated.
Something I would like to see happen is the removal of dictatorship, but the preservation of socialism. Replace the dictator rationing resources across society (evidently unfairly) with the people democratically controlling it. The Communist mode of thinking has, in a way, already become commonplace, but it is is tainted by totalitarian propaganda. If we try to shoehorn capitalism into NK, we risk further destabilization.
The fact you think the DPRK is socialist/communist is just another thing to add to the long list of "Why Karl Marx is a complete and total loving moron"
