Suggestions & Requests / Reshade 3 patch for multiplayer
« on: April 09, 2017, 10:41:45 AM »
I know there's some patch or something you can do to disable the depth buffer limit thing, but I don't know how that works. Someone made one for 2, but for obvious reasons that doesn't work. (Actually, it does. Just not entirely. RBM is broken but some other shaders, probably ones made for 2 that still work on 3 or something, do work. And look cool.)

So yeah can someone patch the opengl32.dll thing for reshade to disable the multiplayer depth buffer limit?

Games / the knowledge issue
« on: April 07, 2017, 08:33:51 PM »
Let's talk about an issue I have with games.
Let's call it the knowledge issue.
The knowledge issue is the problem that you can't un-learn something intentionally. Story/puzzle games lose almost all value once you've played them, and a lot if someone spoils it for you
Horror games revolve around things happening suddenly and an atmosphere of apprehension. What's going to come for me? When will it show up? Am I safe? Do the rules change? What's behind this door?
Exploration games do, too. Once you've seen everything, you've explored it all. What more is there to do?
It's like reading a book. Why read it twice unless you've forgotten something?
A lot of games are easier if you know the exact mechanics, the limits where things start happening so you know exactly what you can and can't do.
Let's take Teleglitch. I just bought it. It's fun. I had no idea what to expect. The first time zombies burst out of a pipe I died simply because I didn't have time to process it. Now that I know that happens, I'm more careful. I know how many shots it takes on average to down the basic enemies. Two or three. I also know that I can craft the nailgun, how to find secrets, and other things I didn't.
There's a lot of fun in knowing you don't know things, and that there's more to learn.

General Discussion / Fort Wars Idea
« on: April 05, 2017, 02:17:28 PM »
So you know how events are like, super abusable?
onPlayerTouch>Player>spawnProjectile is a great way to cheat.
This could be limited by a simple electricity system, each event having a power requirement. Each player has a fuel tank and a generator. The fuel tank generates fuel, which has to be moved to the generator by hand. It can be picked up by any player who isn't already carrying fuel. The generator stores electricity, which can't be stolen. Every input and output has a cost in electricity to run.

Thus, we now have something to fight over and a way to allow use but prevent abuse of powerful events such as doPlayerTeleport, player kill, etc.

Anyone think this is a good idea? Bad idea? Worst idea ever?

General Discussion / Blocklounge: Progress Is Being Made
« on: March 29, 2017, 06:57:43 PM »
The Blocklounge is a project started late last year, initially to be a place to hang out and play with little minigames (kinda like the New Year's server) and evented knicknacks, it's not really a done deal either way but now it's sorta just heading towards a loading-screen-free minigame server and not much else.

Things I need before I start the server:
-Outdoor Maps (1/5)
-Indoor Maps (2/5)
-Indoor placeholder map (right now it's just an empty baseplate, maybe a default build could be moved?)
-Minigame Standardization (Names and stuff)
-Map Voting System (with the ability to randomize maps if nobody votes)
-Map ideas please someone give me ideas for minigames, maps for DM/TDM/CTF/whatever, things to do that aren't games but can be enjoyed by 2-20 players, anything that might be fun

Stuff I've got:
-Main building (doesn't change, houses one (1) map inside at a time)
-Two indoor deathmatch maps.
-One outdoor placeholder map, for when nothing's loaded.
-One work-in-progress outdoor map that isn't a deathmatch.

If anyone's interested in helping, PM me here or friend me on Glass. (My main ID is 157541, this is my hosting alt that I bought because dedicated and steam dislike eachother)
inb4 patton shows up and says either I or the project suck, he's already logged into my server once purely to do that

Now, for those who say "no pix no clix" you aren't asked to click anything but here's some pretty (?) pictures anyways. Looks decent in lit and dark environments.

Constructive criticism is certainly welcome.

Also, I'm back. Feel free to complain.
