Hey dudes

I'm taking a laptop apart and making a mineral oil computer for a school project. I'm about to turn it on and test it outside the laptop's externals, but I'm terrified of bricking it. There is absolutely no metal on metal to short it, should I be fine to plug it in and turn in on?
if it works in the laptop, i don't see why it would break outside of it

the cooler that comes with the cpu has thermal paste on it already.....
not all thermal paste is made equal. my aftermarket cooler came with thermal paste but i used my own. there's nothing wrong with using your own thermal paste, it's not that expensive

manufacturer error, you could have sent it back
why would you sent a whole cpu back just for missing thermal paste when you can apply it yourself in a few minutes?

My good friend from High School is going to a big school for pharmacy and is currently sitting at around $150,000 in debt and would be lucky to get a job within the first couple years of getting his degree. Meanwhile I'm sitting at $15,000 in loans and already have a job lined up for when I finish college. It's just so much smarter financially to go to a decent two year school for $3,000 a semester, especially considering the majority of people aren't even entirely sure what they want to do until they've experienced a couple semesters.
yea p much. i'd love to go to a big college with a great engineering program like vanderbilt but it's ~60k tuition so unless i get a free ride, there's no way i'll go there. i'll probably end up at either university of arkansas or mississippi state university.

my school district will supposedly be forcing all students to participate in the hour of code event, especially now that all arkansas schools are mandated to have a compsci course in high school. aside from that i can do motor control and joystick mapping in ROBOTC, just basic stuff like mapping joysticks/triggers/buttons to motor ports and making the robot drive autonomously (no sensors tho, haven't learned that yet)

I want to get into an Ivy League or an equally reputable college so I need to challenge myself (or at least look like it) and also maintain a high GPA, and I am doing well in the classes although they are very stressful to take because of how easy your grade can fluctuate. My school is really damn competitive so if you don't take challenging courses or a schedule similar to mind you're going to get lost in the pack.
there's a lot of schools that are comparable to an ivy league that cost way less. you don't need to come out under an ocean of debt from those schools just to try to be better off.

my high school experience is p swell so far. i don't get caught up in the "uighhhhh dumb cliches ughhhh dumb memes" but i stay chill with my classmates. my classmates like me and i like my classmates most of the time.

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE WORSHIP, NOT THE GOD. "God", "Jehova" and "Allah" are one and the same according to the various beliefs.
please don't start stuff with planr, he'll make it go for 10+ pages over some stupid stuff that doesn't matter
