Luckily, since the DMCA of 2010, you'll face no legal repercussions because jailbreaking is legal on the iOS. As for other risks, such as rogue apps, you may want to search them up and see if they have any dodgy history. Be aware though that doing so will void the iPhobe's warranty if you choose to have it repaired.It was legal before, just debated.
Firmware updates, I don't know.
