The world isn't going to end for another 6 billion years.  And by then who gives a flying forget because we'll be somewhere else by then.

But, knowing psychology, a basic part of 'logical' thinking is that when humans think something is possible to happen, it's going to happen.

Burn the ISO to a disc and use your BIOS boot menu to boot off of it.

Also Fedora and Mandriva are badass. openSUSE and others are meh.
I'm just going to put this out.

I don't take favorites in 1 linux distro.  It's not just accurate.  Ubuntu and variants are based toward a different audience than Fedora and Mandrivia.

How well does wine run things?
Things with OpenGL, faster.
Things with DirectX, slower.

I run WoW faster but CS:S slower.  So it's a double edged sword.  The slowdown isn't bad though.

Always make 2 ways out of every situation, nothing says bad map like an easy spot to camp.

What distro should I get? Something simple.
Ubuntu or MoonOS.  Same thing, just one with Docky out of the box.

yea so?????? that doesnt mean nerds are going to be trillionares
Doesn't mean they aren't either, they actually get good jobs.

You know that guy who fixed your computer?  Nerd.

You know that guy who your dad works for?  Nerd.

You know that guy who you're replying to?  Nerd.

Besides, who are you going to hire to fix your computer?  A high school drop out or a nerdy looking guy that finished college?

Fox 5 is coming to my school.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Get the 2G if you only want to listen to music and play some games, for more gamer worthy, get 3G+.

I highly advise jailbreaking, you can do tons more.  and if anything goes wrong you can restore from itunes.  If the screen cracks, just restore it from iTunes and send it in.  They can't tell it's been jailbroken (but they can tell it's broken, derp.)

Install Linux to a flash drive, and delete it from there.

When you posted that I decided to re-read the whole thread. I still couldn't find you stating that. Oh well.
I think the easiest computer to mod I've seen yet was some quite old IBM that was intentionally made so you could swap pretty much everything without even a screwdriver.
It's the third one down from OP.

True.
I don't know one that's near, and if you haven't already read my past comment, the designers were smoking rocks when they made this and made it very hard to put RAM in.

You could install Xubuntu and switch to the LXDE desktop enviroment. This way you still have access to the software repository without having to use resource-intensive software.
How do I get it to boot so I can change it?

I only have 790mb and 2.20ghz. :/
I thought you had a much older PC.  When I was a kid, I had a terrible PC.  256 MB Ram, some integrated intel graphics, not GMA, older than that.  And I don't even know if the drivers were installed.
