I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is.

Troll face dot Portable Network Graphics. Colon three.
I would rather live with no god, then die to never find out cause I am dead, and I am ceasing my existence.

No one wants another useless richard on these forums, you loving LAUGHED at these poor people's situation. I doubt you'd feel like laughing when your father dies in your own home. Hell my family is atheist and we still had a funeral for our grandmother.

God you act like being athiest gives you the right to act like this. Just shut up because we all know you're Christian.
Yeah, that's why I spend every breathing hour of my day praying to a imaginative deity.

In truth, I think you are a Christian with your way of comprehension. And am I not entitled to laughter, whether it is an appropriate time? I think it is you who are a useless richard, and you are the one who needs to feel the way the world works with no god. Imagine. Funerals would be the process of burning your loved one in a power plant. Marriage would be at the click of a button, no "I do's". The very social world itself would pitted in the flame of it's own making.

Got a little side tracked there.

Indeed it can, but I still stand firm that it can give many hope and help a multitude of people. But, sadly, like many things, corruption in it is still present.

Even so, I'm fighting a battle I'm not completely. I hold strong to my Catholic roots, but spirituality is much more important to me than religion.

I pulled my roots out in one swift stroke. No pain and lots of gain. My new aspect on the world without a religion weighing me down, really is a stress reliever. Although I never went to church much before I turned atheist.

When I grow old, and begin to die of something, I will remember this stuff, and I'll argue the thought in my head like always. But science fact beats religious fiction.

Who says funerals are all religious?

Oasis, just leave plox.
Funerals are events to remember/morn the death of a loved one. Usually in a religious procession. Even then, they are "laid to rest" to go into the after-life. I personally think burning the bodies as fuel would be more productive.

Also, please stop telling me to leave. If you don't like my opinions, then disregard them and go on.

Quite, fellow Christian.  :cookieMonster:
O u.
Everybody just ignore Oasis. He's just one person in 7 billion.
Everyone ignore Qwepir, he's just one person in 7 billion. See how that works?
yes true
if a kid in my 8th grade somehow finds out im atheist they will probably spurt something irrevalent like
SCIENTOLOGIST
or
DEVILS SPAWN
or
SATIN
or (über irrevalent)
TERRORIST/national socialist!
or straight out INFIDEL

No, I blurt it out at school, but I am quiet around the subject at home. Atheists do not regard social status at my school.

You know, Isaac Newton was a Bible enthusiast and interpreter. :o
Or so you believe. Religion has helped many people, friend. True, it has hurt many as well, but every light casts a shadow.
Unless the light sources is directly over head, then it casts no shadow. :D

Religion costs humanity lives, money, resources, space, time, energy, etc. And it only gives a select few hope...

Not a great help to society.

I refer you to my previous statement.

I just think, knowing both sides of the argument improves my comprehension of it.

Actually, we really wouldn't have a lot of things. Religion inspired many people, friend. Things may be better, may be worse. But a lot of things were made by those with religion, and had they not been, they may have never thought of it. Their situation would have been different. Once again, maybe better, maybe worse. Even some sciences were founded by people of certain religions. (Maybe not for the religion, but it is still a part of there life that made the situation)

tl;dr: Everyone makes up what the world is today, and if something was different in one person's life, the whole world may be effected. The Butterfly Effect, I believe. :o

That's what the man wants you to think. >:O
True, but religion still is a bigger burden then a gift.

I think Oasis is like them family men that don't want to accept their true loveuallity.

Oasis is Christian, he just doesn't know it yet.  :cookieMonster:
I was baptized Christian at whatever age, no idea. Went through the years, questioning a God's existence. At a younger age, my argument for why the bible was a piece of stuff, was the fact it didn't mention dinosaurs. (I was obsessed at the time)

Very recently, when I was visiting Hawaii with my dad (Christian) he told me about his beliefs on how the bible was a great story and all, but was not as true as it seemed. This spurred my struggle with my mind to figure the religious and non-religious aspects of the world. I actually began my thinking in a Hawaiian church, where my grandparents were getting their vows renewed for their 50th anniversary.

I now have no beliefs what so ever of any deity, I despise religion, funerals, or any other religious procession, and last but not least, I have to hide my atheism from select people and I bloat it out to others.

Oasis, you DID start this. If you didn't pull that richard move none of this would have started and you wouldn't be a hated disgrace.
Did I say I didn't start this? And to hate a disgrace is kinda redundant. But I must confess, I had fun for the past few hours. Seeing opinions racing by to only be smashed up onto a wall.
