Constructive, thanks.

Every recorded civilization has or had issues. Heck, I bet you could find some dysfunctional ant colonies or something where the queen goes crazy, I dunno. I'm not sure why you're entering the realm of the hypothetical when talking about civilization; there's not any basis for thinking that alien civilizations wouldn't be imperfect like ours.
There's not any basis for thinking anything about alien civilizations. And when talking about stuff like this, its all hypothetical.

3512
Any civilization has issues.
How could you possibly state that? The only civilization we know of has been created by mankind...

3513
Yeah, I've been following this. Really terrible.

3514
Are you kidding me? Humans are, bar none, the most intelligent animal on earth. And simple problems tend to be inherent to the system; corruption will always infest democracy to at least some extent, for example. That's just how it is. Not every problem can be solved and not every problem needs to be solved.
No stuff? I didn't say we weren't the most intelligent animals on earth.

Oh boy, again with this stupid stuff that every pseudointellectual and their mother just loves to parrot.
And you even threw in some no-true-scotsman for extra potato credit, good on you.
Jesus, someone stuff in your cereal this morning?

3515
Who was this?
Me, about an hour ago.

as stupid as the things humans do, we are the smartest species ever discovered (by ourselves)
It's not what we do its what we are. An intelligent species would have solved simple problems that our society has had for decades by now. We're just a glorified ant colony with some space capability.

3516
I don't believe intelligent life has or ever will visit earth but it would be pretty nifty if they did I suppose.
I don't believe intelligent life is even on Earth.

3517
I mean, if you were an area 51 scientist, wouldn't it be hilarious to say aliens are real then die?
That what I wanted Armstrong to say before he died. Just a simple: "We're not alone."

It's true man

I think the difficulty curve gets a bit out of whack on the "College Admission" level though :/
Must be a bug.

Holy stuff you have those cube things too.

I'm not condemning the people within the group, I'm condemning the group itself, which as a whole, has done many many things that I personally take offense to. if that's what you're getting at.
Condemning groups for the offense of a few is misguided at best, and tragic at worst. A group is nothing more than the people its made up of, so why not direct your anger at Nick Denton who undoubtedly is the source of most of your issues with Gawker.

Anyways, breaking news bulletin:
http://www.businessinsider.com/sam-biddle-is-leaving-valleywag-2014-10

So I guess the reason he wasn't fired is because he insists they were sarcastic tweets, which actually looking at it would fit with his demeanor in other posts. However ill-timed the tweets may have been, I wouldn't crucify the man because of them. It looks like they're moving him to a different department entirely, so maybe we'll hear less from and about him in the future.

Anyways, I'm tired as forget and really enjoyed this actual discussion we tried to have here. Thanks Ipquarx.

Gawker supports biddle, advertisers don't support biddle, therefore advertisers pull out of gawker. It makes sense to me.
Wow my point just flew right across the top of that head of yours.

Alright, yes, because Sam Biddle wasn't immediately fired, which would have been the smart thing to do, Gawker lost partners. That's not what I was talking about, but sure, we'll go with it.

Why do you think Gawker supports Sam Biddle?

3523
It's not just biddle, it's the fact that gawker supports biddle.
Ah, just got to that. That does astound me, however once again, saying "Gawker" supports Biddle is like saying the U.S. supports capital punishment. Sure the system does, many people within it might, but that shouldn't be used to incriminate the entirety of a group.

...and Adrien Chen, a former top Gawker journalist, wrote a NASTY piece on cripplemoot, writing that he's "only a torso perched on an electric wheelchair" with "deformed bones [and] shriveled legs".
https://archive.today/FpKkn
I'll go over the rest of what you posted at some other point, but the actual article reads:
Quote
Another dancer watched the celebration in amazement. “He’s only one year old?” she exclaimed, pointing to Brennan. Brennan does physically resemble a child, if not an infant. He was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, a disorder characterized by brittle and deformed bones. He has a startlingly tiny body and a high-pitched voice. At first glance, you see only a torso perched on an electric wheelchair, since his shriveled legs rest tucked underneath his body. But as the sharp features of his normal-size face reveal, he is in fact a 20-year-old man.
If I should expect misinformed or purposefully altered quotes like this from the rest of your evidence that Gawker, a huge company made up of smaller companies run by dozens of people ranging all across the spectrum of respectful and fair writers to people that borderline shouldn't have a job, should be shut down, then please tell me now before I have to sift through all your sources.

I don't doubt that there's some bad writing, I don't doubt that you don't agree with everything every publication prints or publishes, but for the love of god open your mind up to the possibility that the world isn't black and white, and people with different opinions aren't the enemy. You can disagree with people without hating them.

Gawker are SERIOUS bullies...
http://www.cjr.org/the_kicker/gawker_bullying.php
Oh my god, Sam Biddle? You're pinning your opinion on a company because of Sam loving Biddle?

The rest of this article has some merit, Gizmodo is mostly the only Gawker site I get news from, and they do realize that the entire company isn't bad. However most cases are pretty weak for saying Gawker is a "bully".

Gawker is being sued because they do not pay their interns.
http://www.businessmanagementdaily.com/41201/gawker-is-latest-target-of-unpaid-intern-class-action
Have you never heard of an unpaid internship? They're quite common and only recently have they become a big issue. I don't agree with what Gawker is doing, but I'm sure you'd rather be interning at a great game studio then flipping burgers for a living. On the job experience is fantastic, but I guess only if you have the means to survive while you do it, which clearly some of these interns in the class-action could no longer do.

Gawker listed sponsors that do not actually advertise them, which is a textbook case of fraud.
http://adland.tv/adnews/gawker-toxic-brands-who-partner-them/1291467968
I'd really like a less colored article about this topic, and I'd like to see their sponsor page now, though I can't seem to find it. Regardless, that's pretty serious if it is true, and the topic of Sam Biddle losing them partners is a whole other thing. The fact that that man isn't fired yet astounds me.

Gawker just signed a 15-year lease for a massive new $75 million office in the heart of NYC. Earliest chance to cancel is 2024.
http://www.businessinsider.com/gawkers-new-offices-2014-9
What's the problem here?

Gawker supports child enthusiasm:
https://archive.today/i1Njv
Find me where in that article it says that that writer supports child enthusiasm. I'm interested to know.
Quote
The old adage is that the true mark of a society is how it treats the weakest in its ranks. Blacks, women, Latinos, gays and lesbians, and others are still in no way on wholly equal footing in America. But they're also not nearly as lowly and cursed as men attracted to children. One imagines that if Jesus ever came to Earth, he'd embrace the poor, the blind, the lepers, and, yes, the child enthusiasts. As a self-professed "progressive," when I think of the world I'd like to live in, I like to imagine that one day I'd be OK with a man like Terry moving next door to me and my children. I like to think that I could welcome him in for dinner, break bread with him, and offer him the same blessings he's offered me time and again. And what hurts to admit, even knowing all I know now, is that I'm not positive I could do that.
I'd like to think that you just got all these links from some other poor misinformed person, who apparently is dispensing this "evidence" that Gawker is an evil company with some end goal in mind that the entire company will go down in flames.

I just went through all of it, and the only problems with Gawker, as a media parent company, a company that basically manages smaller companies, the only problem I can see is Sam Biddle's tweets. That's it. Next.

Norton isn't really that bad.

They fixed their stuff according to Mr. PC Repair teacher who isn't a forgethead.
My pc was fine when I had norton which I got for free from my dad's internet provider. Now that I've built a new computer I have the stuffty free version of AVG which is fine for what it is but Norton was still better.
