because the games been pretty much dead.
not really anything interesting with it anymore.
its hype died out.
Nah, this recent grind to a halt is basically the stigma of the Microsoft buy-out. The thread was active enough before that.

I can easily respect all that so far. Much more constructive than KingofPol's comments. Personally I don't give much credence to what other people think of video games, I buy them based on whether I will likely enjoy them, so this whole disclosure about friendliness between devs and reporters isn't really that important to me. I am glad however that Totilo's addressing what his audience is finding wrong with Kotaku though.

As for the Greyson thing, I'm not completely up on the happenings of what's going on there, so I'll leave you to your comments on that. If you and others don't trust the guy, then he'll lose readers and will likely be fired or laid-off. It's the market at work.

kotaku is owned by a particularily dumb company named Gawker Media iirc
Rather than just using adjectives to describe things you don't like, could you give me examples of why Kotaku needs to be shut down and why Gawker Media is a dumb company?

Off Topic / Re: HP 3D Printer: The Future is Here
« on: October 30, 2014, 12:40:43 PM »
Z-corp and other manufacturers have been making these exact same printers with this technology commercially available for years. HP has brought absolutely nothing new to the table.

Also forget you guys, stop asking me about richard printing

Yup, that's the same thing.

The point I was making is that when larger companies jump onto products like 3D printing or any other piece of innovation in recent history, they tend to begin their introduction to normal life soon after. I don't contest that 3D printers have been around for a while, and I'm sure there are better ones around than this one, but HP, a printer manufacturer could make 3D printing more mainstream simply by being HP.

I don't need all your fancy high-tech state of the art video bobulators. My 2GB HD 6970 performs great with whatever I throw at it.
Heck, even my 6870 1GB still handles everything I've ever thrown at it with excellent performance.
Maybe you both aren't throwing hard enough... :)

dual core 990 announced to be out soon :D
expected to be basically using two 980 chips.
rumored to have 8g vrm

didn't watch the episode + didn't have the time so thanks i guess

If you get the time, might as well watch it. Apparently its a bigger deal than just Colbert has people on his show to quickly laugh at issues that don't really matter.

Should I go to school with lower-right abdominal pain that's been there since yesterday?

I heard that Colbert actually tore her a new one or something like that
No, not really... He agreed with her in a satirical sense. If someone watching thinks he disagreed with her and "tore her a new one" they either have never seen Colbert or they are stupid as stuff.

I'm too tired to respond to the entire post but this part is silly.
That's 3%... and I'm frankly insulted that you think that TotalBiscuit cares about the viewcount on his video in specific. As long as people see it he's happy. People will draw their own conclusions about the video whether or not there's commentary overtop it, which is what the streamers are doing. On top of that, I don't appreciate that you don't want people being the devil's advocate to the video either. All opinions are to be considered, listened to, and picked apart if necessary.

I haven't even watched the video yet, keep that in mind, but once I do watch it tomorrow I'm going to give my opinion on both the video and the video+commentary. If you want your opinion on the commentary to be taken seriously then you need to take it seriously yourself, and actually consider what they're saying bit by bit, not by what their apparent tone of voice is.
You wouldn't agree that re-broadcasting another person's video is unethical? Personally I'd be furious, but I guess you're right, TB has bigger and better things to worry about.

I can't address the rest of your post, I have a raging headache and it's like 11 PM, but I will later.

I would like to note that one of KingofPol's moderators is running a "Times Totilo Lied" counter in the chat. That plus the shoutfest of the comments in general are a pretty good indication of what this commentary, regardless of merit, is breeding. I did actually watch a bit more of it after your post, and he does seem more calm and composed now, with actual opinions being laid out, but still, I think the best way to bring GG to an end is what TB is doing, and trying to bring together people that can discuss issues and try to come to conclusions that will help end this stufffest.

At least let him explain himself first, jesus christ
"lolno" is not enough information to make that kind of assumption
Yes it is. My proof is the fact that he linked to a guy literally stealing the video I posted about. He's broadcasting live a 2 hour video that is now only getting 1 view when it should be getting the 1.6k or however many viewers there are. Not only is that extremely unethical, but the guy's rude attitude towards Totilo and his snide remarks over the video are exactly what I was talking about.
