remember the default avatars? there was like a police man, an astronaut, the block mongler. anyone know why they got taken out?

I've created 16x16 textures out of all of blocklands default colors
Notice: These are just the solid colors, not transparent.
I thought this would be useful for people who make items that they want to fit their blockhead character or the default colorset scheme

Thanks for coming!
Floating city is back for its 3rd annual event! This summers soon to come to an end but what better than to wrap it up with a nice classic themed freebuild.
I would have hosted this a LOT sooner but I had no way to get a dedicated server until now.
Same as last year, here are the building regulations.
Space
Do not take up too much space you do not need. I recommend using a 16x16.
Allign
When you don't align your builds, it causes problems with small empty spaces that are not big enough to build in. The alignment grid is 8x8 studs
Stick out
A lot of builds have details that extend from their baseplates. This is fine as long as it sticks out over the walkways only. This can cause problems with people who want to build next to you. So please do not let roofs/windows/etc. stick out over empty lots.
Music
Music bricks have a pretty large range compared to the size of Floating City. It can cause problems when there are 5 music bricks going off at the same time. Please add events to your music bricks so people can turn off your music while you are not there. If you do not know how to do this please ask. The same thing goes with sounds. Do not spam loud sounds or allow people to spam loud sounds.
Remember that I can remove your build or clear all of your bricks for any reason that I feel is necessary to.
What's
?Well for one, the layout is definitely new
And finally, rules.
Build along the road grid. This seems to be the rule that nobody gets and they like boo hoo when i delete their stuff
Build kinda small i'm talkin' like between 32x (dont) to 16x even 8x. Were limited in space here you wanna have some room for neighbors
Don't Spam. Because everything is floating its not exactly easy to clear spam so if you do spam on my server expect all of your bricks to be cleared. Like.. all of them.
I got lots of events guys so please don't abuse them. I mean i'm a man who loves events they're nice but don't be that bad apple for everyone else you know. Also i'm not dumb, I know how events work and I know how to get rid of them and i'll sure 'nuff catch you doin it and you wont come back
Dont build on the ground guys that kinda goes with the first rule anyways
Try not to annoy me like its not that easy to. I'm just sayin a lot of you can be really dum so keep it cool man it's and it'll all be good in the hood ;) ;)
I wanna try to get the server started this Thursday (August 4) but if I don't its because im virtually not allowed to make plans for stuff like this irl ;(

Off Topic / getting a new pc and need to know if this build is ok

i asked in the computer thread but i need a quick response
very soon i'll be getting between 500 to 600 bucks and i'm just gonna spend it all on a new computer.
the computer i have has a very old motherboard (can only take up to 4 gigs of ram) and i definitely need an upgrade so i can play any new game that comes out (right now the game i really want to play is doom).
i also do intense 3D rendering, video and image editing.

basically i looked at one of the top recommended pc part picker things that was a little over a $1000 and took off the stuff i didn't need which brought it down to around $530 which is great for my price range
right now i don't need to upgrade my graphics card because i just got a 750 ti recently (i know its not super good) and i honestly can't get a new card until i get a whole new system and i'm willing to stick with this 750 for now until i'm able to upgrade.
basically i'm wondering if any of you experts have a better idea within my price range or if what i got is good enough.
even a "yeah, this is good" or "no this isn't good" will do if you can't recommend anything else cause that's all i'm wondering

i have a 360 controller but the left trigger is broken and the A button has to be pressed really hard for it to work
im just thinking about getting the steam controller since its on sale for 35 bucks and i think its cool that you can make the rumble on it do a jingle
ill probably use it a lot for rocket league and maybe dolphin if i ever take time to download it

Off Topic / no applications whatsoever can detect my webcam

so i think this all started when i got a new video card, but for some stupid reason my webcam (which is showing up and says its working properly) does not come up in any sort of application that uses webcams at all
its there, showing. says its working fine
this can't be my webcam because it works on other computers. plus i have another webcam driver (an IP webcam) and that doesn't show up either.
ive tried reinstalling the drivers twice and it still doesnt show up in any application
has anyone else had this problem?

Off Topic / rant/my internets garbage and i want to punch someone

so since forever and always ive been stuck with 350 kb/s internet. if you have it worse and want to complain, whatever, but honestly i could care less and heres why.
im pretty used to the really slow internet speed, i mean after all i've been living with it my whole life. but things get extremely annoying when it comes to other people in my house. my families favorite thing to do is netflix. oh boy from 11:00 am to 12:00 am there is at least one person in this house watching netflix. whether its my brother, my mom, or my dad. me personally, i don't care for netflix, but because of what i'm about to tell you, i hate netflix with a pure passion.
as soon as someone jumps on netflix, i might as well sit back and grab myself a martini, because it shuts off whatever im doing for at least 10 minutes while netflix super freaking rocket streams the beginning of what their watching. that means i can't browse the web, can't play a multiplayer game, and i can't hear my friends over voice chat. As soon as it calms down, i'm still stuck with slower internet. if i'm playing a game, it idles between 170 to 350 ping. this only bothers me slightly because when im playing a game i know how to aim ahead of time so my internet catches up. what pisses me off though is that it jumps in random patterns, from 600 to over a thousand ping. i have to keep the stupid net graph always on when i'm playing blockland or left 4 dead just so i know when im getting latency jumps. and i can't always pay attention.
people have given me countless half-assed solutions and a lot of them consist of telling me to limit everyone else's connection or make mine better. thats not an option for two reasons.
1. i'm not paying for the internet. as soon as someone finds out i'm limiting their connection and their poor netflix starts to buffer, its instantly my fault and i have to stop using the internet so they can watch netflix.
2. my modem/router doesn't even support it. i looked it up and those "settings" that it offers likes QoS are not comparable to other routers settings and are essentially just there to make people think they offer it (basically its fake and it does nothing).
your other solution would to be to get a different service.
- i live in a pretty rural area and this is the only internet service available in this area
- my isp does provide a better service but we can't get it because they would have to replace the phone lines or something and they're underground so basically they said screw it no way.
what about moving? i wish. but i don't think were moving any time soon and it'd be nice to just be able to just not have to freaking deal with this garbage while im still a teenager and don't grow tired of playing games because ill be busy with bills and taxes and other adult stuff.
if you have anything similar feel free to share maybe we can just go punch people together

Help / Blockland always launches non borderless fullscreen

Even though I set blockland to borderless fullscreen, it always launches in some sort of actual full screen. I know this because whenever i alt+tab my screen flashes.
The only way i can ever get this to fix is by going into the settings and changing something (usually i just click on bitrate 32 instead of default since its the same) and half the time that doesn't even work.
I like to keep shadow play running when I play blockland and I know it's not working when the icon i have at the top right doesn't show up. (Shadow play only works for blockland in borderless)

Right now blockland only has one two blending options. Normal and multiply.
For instance, here is what they look like

multiply is actually seems to be a combination of vignette and a blank screen. the vignette uses the multiply blending and the blank screen uses another type of blending called overlay. heres a screenshot (no vignette) that i made in photoshop to replicate the effect in blockland

id say im right about this but this is just a little discovery that i noticed. it would be cool if we had more blending options and we can come up with combinations.
also, vignette really does bring out some beauty in the game.
