Games / Petit Computer - Make apps/games for the DSi and 3DS in BASIC!
« on: March 30, 2015, 12:20:49 AM »
I'm just going to quote the older post I made until I make a better OP:

Info
(Copy/Paste from site)

We have brought back BASIC,a programming language fondly remembered by anyone who programmed computers back in the day. In the golden age of BASIC, it was easy for anyone to write a program. Now we offer you this exact same capability, but this time with the advanced features of the Nintendo DSi™ system. Everyone can easily enjoy creating their own original programs, from those who ever dreamed of being a programmer when they were younger, to the young programmers of today. Many programs are included to ensure that you can fully enjoy using BASIC. The included programs were also written in BASIC, so you can add new features to them in order to enhance your games. You can also take the programs and data you create and convert them to QR codes that can be shared with friends who also have Petit Computer on their Nintendo DSi systems. (Programs included: 12 feature samples,5games, a character picture tool,a background screen creation tool,a graphics tool, and a picture-drawing tool. All programs are saved within the DSiWare data.)

So in a nutshell, it's an app for your 3ds/dsi that lets you program homebrew with BASIC for $8. What else could you ask for?

Programs/Games by other users

None yet!

So basically you can make your own programs in basic. The reason I made this topic is mainly to discuss it's successor: Smile Basic. It's exclusively for the 3DS is coming out some time this spring; therefore you can make use of the accelerometer, 3d, circle pad, and many other new features.

Feel free to share programs via QR codes or discuss petit computer in the meantime.

unplug the computer
Only if it wasn't a virtual computer.
sudo rm -rf /
Eh, this joke got old the third time and I don't really want to wipe all the progress we've made so nah.

sm-ssc

lets play some STEPMANIA

Yeah, or well it would've worked if we had a desktop environment.

Install a desktop.
Perfect timing, the question is which desktop environment? (remember that something lightweight is needed since we're limited to 512MBs of RAM)

i've only used servers with apache already installed, so i know forgetall about configuring it

also you could just post the url in the topic somewhere, doesn't have to be in the op
Not sure what you mean by URL, but the IP is 45.55.162.143 and you can just connect to that in your browser if a web server is setup on it.

wget http://archive.getdeb.net/install_deb/playdeb_0.3-1~getdeb1_all.deb && sudo dpkg -i playdeb_0.3-1~getdeb1_all.deb && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install sm-ssc

(I have no clue whether you can use multiple double ampersands)

That seemed to work, what now?

Off Topic / Fake Blockland indieDB page?
« on: March 18, 2015, 10:48:02 AM »
I just noticed this when I looked at the indieDB page for rotondo's game. I know this happened before on desura but the same thing also seems to be on indieDB. It has a link to the desura page that has now been taken down, but it seems to be the same guy who put it on desura:

I don't think that this is a legitimate thing. The group who made this game is listed as "Badspot" with the only member (who is the leader of said group) being a guy named therayarmystudios, his bio reads "sup guys i'm just a guy who want's to make it's own game i don't add people that i don't know so yeah bye.".

Call it a hunch but I'm fairly certain that isn't Badspot. Either he's doing something more illicit than distributing someone elses content without permission or he just uploaded the demo to Desura or something.
Can we also get this page taken down? It doesn't seem like that big of a deal since there's no downloads, therefore nothing that could be malicious; but it may cause some confusion.

Also I don't know where to post this since it's not directly related to the game so whatever.

I would do this, but:
1.
OP was banned and is not coming back
So that topic can't be updated at all,
and 2.
From this point only text commands.
Seriously though:I might give hints on how to do things but idk
Perhaps try apt-get install nginx or apt-get install apache2?

Code: [Select]
make me a sandwich
sudo make me a sandwich

There was really no point to using sudo since you're already root but okay.
Still, nothing interesting happens.
Edit: Yes, I know it's from xkcd lol.
