I am going to skip over all of the stupidity and cut straight to the chase, has this been said, who cares.

You are 15 and a Sophomore in High School. Actually I'm 16, but close enough.

You don't even have a college degree and you actually expect people to pay you to do some half ass job on some half ass website? My work is most certainly never "half-assed."

I'm sorry, I've had dreams like this too, but you have more important things to be focusing on in your life right now. Here's a tip: get through high school and go to college for web design. Get a degree and become Microsoft certified in all the areas you plan to sell. Then, join a web design company and work your way up. When you are finally sure you've got what it takes, move out into the business world and start your company. This sounds like an extremely good idea, which was also, lo and behold, very close to what I have planned for my future.

No one will become a successful businessman before finishing college. Then please explain to me why my 17-year-old friend has his own small business, complete with copyright. It's the sad, sad truth. Come on, man. Please, for once just go out and chase girls or something. I have a girlfriend, thank you very much. Forget about all of this bullstuff business. The world can wait for HyperJet Designs. Right now your main priority should be to be a kid and loving enjoy it. You've got two years left. I've got a year and and then I'm out in "the real world". Believe me, it's a scary thought. I have no idea what I want to do with my life, and all they do is pester you about what to do and what jobs to think about.

This is stressful stuff, you don't want to have to worry about clients and management and funding and income and quarters and taxes and competition and bills all at the delicate age of 15. 16, but we've already been through that. God damn, you haven't even gone to prom yet. Untrue, I was invited by my current girlfriend, who is a junior. Cool your "hyper"jets and live a little, for forgets sake.

All in all a very meaningful post, minus the vulgarity. I must say that was a major slap in the face, in a good way. Thank you for doing this, honestly. You're right, I should just stick with my current job for now. I had already planned to go to college for a Masters in computer science; I guess I just got a little-- okay, way too far ahead of myself. I firmly believe that if my friend and I had gone right ahead with the business our work would appear rushed and as you say, "half-assed." I'll have my friend read this post and talk to him about postponing this whole thing until we're really truly prepared. Besides, giving this thing some time to simmer before actually launching it will allow us to better our skills immensely. Once again, thank you for opening my eyes to the fact that, I'm really not ready for this just yet.

If you're in a small town with few or no other design companies, it may help  a lot.

Good thing we do.

I might join, if you realize that doing this will mostly be finding people who will actually want some kids messing around to design there websites. There might be a few people out there who need design for cheap, but they will probably never find you until you build up popularity.

We already are fairly popular, on a local level; unfortunately we attend two different schools, but teachers at both schools say that they're interested. Friends of ours have also said they'll check it out, one already wants a website.

Free, free, free! How the forget are you going to make MONEY?

If anything, you're just two kids richarding around with knowledge you could actually use somewhere important to make ACTUAL money.

By taking client requests. The free programs are just that, they're for everyone. The ones we'll be making money from are the websites, custom applications, etc.
