Bell works on closing distance with Sabre-5 to maximize the effect of her AAMs.

The Sabres have all focused on the group heading for the nukes. As they enter gun range, they strafe Tlacelel and his guardsmen with the pulse lasers, knocking one out of the sky. Tlacelel fires a quartet of all-aspects at the defending planes but does not deviate from his course.

Obviously, this simple task is one easily accomplished by anyone with a decent plane and two neurons to rub together, but as they all dogpile on their target, some of them lose track of where their comrades are. Sabres 4 and 5 suffer a "minor" midair collision, one of their wings connecting with the other's fuselage.

tl;dr your target is now an easier target.

"Gods, Gods, Gods! -forget!" Jaakko curses, seeing the fleet straight ahead.
He firewalls the throttle and the aircraft lunges forward. The airframe shudders in the wash of the Sky Marshal's aircraft. He keeps up with the Sky Marshal as best he can.

Richard pushes the power lever past the afterburner wall and through the overdrive detent, locking it into place with a heavy metallic click. The fusion engines roar deafeningly, launching the Sabre forward with a burst of acceleration that kicks Richard back into his seat as he races to stay with the gunship.

The fleet opens up on your formation with everything they have. Missile after missile comes dangerously close to your planes before being prematurely detonated by the gunship's LAMS, and you find yourselves surrounded by pulse lasers from the craft behind you and ribbons of PD fire from the ships below. Fortunately, they are not aiming for you, though that only marginally reduces the risk this area has to offer. Directly ahead you can see another pair of Rafales taking off from the carrier.

You are topped off with a quartet of Heatseekers.

Finally, Coaxoch's group takes advantage of the Sabres turning their backs and attempts to take the heat off. Oddly, the Major herself seems to be refusing to engage.

  -They spot a new pair of Rafales taking off
-Coaxoch's squadron tries to peel off the pursuers
  -Only succeed in making them angry
  -But they've already taken their turn, so they can't do anything about it yet

Bosses always have the highest chance of any enemy to drop their planet's rare resource, with a small chance for a cell. It's why ruk the suck is (or at least was at one point) such a reliable way to farm orokin cells.

needless to say when youve got a stuffton of wimpy enemies that drop boss loot and then you bring a nekros on top of that, it will get ridiculous fast

DE created a new grineer enemy and in their infinite sleekness gave it the boss drop table. Then they gave a low-level mobile defense mission which takes place on Earth, where you will fight dozens of them.

I got 4 cells from one run once, and I didn't even stay long. It's phenomenally bad luck that flat only got 1.

AWACS can't resupply RGMs, only Heatseekers, Joint-Strikes, Anti-Ground missiles, and unguided bombs.

Roger adjusts course to the coordinates AWACS designated.

The path takes you across the support plane's flight path, perpendicular to its direction and dangerously close to a collision. You pass without incident, but when the Rafale attempts to follow you in front of the AWACS it is blown out of the sky by the chin-mounted laser emplacement. Reference material for those who would accuse asspulling.
: Got him, you are in the clear!

"Moving with the gunship," Jaakko reports.
He tastes blood in his mask.

Angry at the thought of following more orders from the Deltans, Richard furrows his brow and breathes through his teeth. "Mjolnir 2, following."

There is a considerable amount of chatter from your temporary allies, when the AWACS suddenly starts speaking in Aesthian.
: We have confirmation, the fleeing Rafales are carrying the stolen weapons. They are currently well out of range of any Mercanan city, but regardless, we cannot allow them to escape.

The Sabres get the first salvo off, but another GSCRAM burst from Holt takes care of it. Tlacelel floors the accelerator and surges ahead, firing his last MMS spread at the incoming planes in an attempt to thin them out.

Only one of them sticks, however. On the bright side, the plane it sticks to belongs to the squadron leader.

As of the recent TAG update (since its old ability didnt really mesh with the new fightan system), all missiles fired on the lead Sabre have their effectiveness increased by 10, and any countermeasures they use have their effectiveness reduced by 10. This effect remains for two turns.

Bell engages the turbocharger again to get back to the rest of the group.

You are now close enough to help Coaxoch's squadron out with engaging the Sabres. As is Tourist, since he didn't post.

Distance from Tlacelel/Crash/Sabre to missile range of the Rafales is shown in their activity box. T = Turns. Until then, Crash and Sabre will be running a gauntlet of SAM and Phalanx fire.

A handful of Rafales are hauling ass away from the battle, but there is a flight of Sabres and the entire fleet between you and them.
: [Sir, those planes don't appear to be heading for us. They could be the carriers we're looking for.]
: [I have no doubt about it. Major, tell the Corsair and the Sabre to follow me after those carriers. Everyone else, engage the fighters and surface vessels.]
: Whoever is flying the Sabre or Corsair, follow Tlacelel. Everyone else... just do what you always do!
: [All ships! Focus fire on that incoming gunship! Do not let it get through!]

In case I didn't already say it (and I think I did): On a linear graph of who goes where, it goes:
Allied Planes -- Incoming Sabres -- Renegade Fleet -- Escaping Fighters
Meaning if you want to hit the fleet, you will have to go past the Sabres, and if you want to hit the escaping fighters, you will have to both go through the Sabres and over the fleet's SAMs.

Richard reflexively jerks the stick and pulls his aircraft away rather sloppily.

The Sabre flies back to its previous spot in the formation.

Coaxoch and co. arrive on the scene, having finished mopping up the group of stragglers from the first wave.
