just barely got this in before i had to go get ready for work
Mission Theme

Fighting every urge to back away, Richard gratingly pushes the power lever forward. He drags the lasersight over the undamaged renegade Rafale and presses for all guns.

While out of optimal range of the lasers, their partially dissipated beams are enough to finish off the Rafale after a solid PPC hit.

I try to pop one of the jags with 2 HSM's.

: [We aren't in a place to turn down help. AWACS, make yourself available should Mjolnir need a resupply. Major, you'll need to be the liaison between us, I cannot for the life of me comprehend that gobbeldygook most of them call a language.]
: [Yes, sir.] Listen up! We are keying you in as friendly, please do the same for us. Otherwise, it is soon going to get very confusing.

The Sky Marshal's flight continues towards the enemy formation, and the LAMS finally falters.
: Rosseau!
: I'm alright, just a bit shaken!

"Tourist has translated for us a conversation between the Sky Marshal and a Huit naval commander. The naval commander is threatening use of nukes, I believe. The Sky Marshal and naval forces appear to be about to go at it- I can see some aggressive looking formations on radar.

-Tourist, would you say that is correct? You're our translator,"

Jaakko begins sweating profusely.

: You mean to tell me they're fighting among themselves? That's good news, I suppose, but you must keep an eye out for whatever nukes they have planned to use.

The Huit comms are abuzz again as the Admiral's forces open fire on Tlacelel's.
: [You had your chance to leave, flyboys! Time's up!]

Mission Theme
: [Luthor, G-SCRAM, NOW!]
: [Deploying Scrambler!]
: [Guardsmen, stay close to me until we reach gun range, then split up and fire at will!]
: You heard the man, we are diving right into the thick of it!
: What!? That's Self Delete, we're way outnumbered!

Tlacelel leads his flight directly towards the densest concentration of Naval fighters, his escort flying close enough to benefit from his own LAMS arrays, though they are certainly struggling to keep up with the incoming ordnance launched after the GSCRAM.

The RWR siren goes off in the Sabre roosterpit. Richard looks at the display to find the Deltan AWACS symbol sitting along the outer edge of the second circle.

"Radar spike, 12 o'clock. They know we're here. We need to act, fast."

Jaakko glances at his RWR panel, if only to confirm. Sure enough, search radar spike, AWACS band.

Both of you can authorize Tourist to speak on behalf of the squad to declare your intention to assist, unless you'd rather watch the fight play itself out. However, your familiarity with Huit military assets is enough for you to know that the ten or so planes currently opposing Tlacelel's group are merely a fraction of what is probably still lying in wait or preparing for launch.

As you approach the navigation point several minutes later, your comms pick up a rather heated debate between the Huit officers. Unfortunately, only Ralph is able to follow what is being said (unless one of the other PCs speaks huit, but i don't remember anyone but ralph knowing it).
: [...Soldiers deserting by the squad, mass dissent in every city, slave uprisings plaguing the Empire, morale across the continent has never been lower! And those of us who still wish to take the fight to the enemy's door are being held back by the bureaucrats who insist on playing it safe! Well I say to hell with them! A number of planes have been dispatched from a carrier currently outside radar range, and are flying directly at Tlacelel and his retinue. Neither faction seems to have noticed your presence yet, but you are in radar range of Tlacelel's flight.

As I said, you only need to leave 1 person behind (i am not going to have two separate combats being resolved at the same time, so we'll just say whoever's left automatically succeeds in defending the ships). I'm just waiting on operator or nozoner's go-ahead to put the next update up.

its like he literally hasnt played anything since 2, sentrybots have always had minigun/rocket combos except for in a few cases where they have a gatling laser, 2 miniguns, or 2 missile launchers

A waypoint appears on everyones' HUD, placed in the same direction the Huitzitlaotani planes exited towards.
: Wait, Mjolnir, you cannot just leave all of a sudden! Surely this can wait until we've reached the shore?
: I'm afraid it cannot. The Huits have punched through your fleet and Mjolnir is the nearest allied air unit. We need them over there immediately to engage carrier-based fighters.
: You do not need to deploy the entire squadron, do you? We would be totally defenseless!
: Mjolnir, you tell us. How are you going to play this one?



You may now commence debating what course of action to take, whether to stay and defend the Mercanans against new orders, abandon them to take care of business, or split the squad. Or, find a fourth option. Mission rewards will be affected by the decision made.

Note: for simplicity's sake, the "split the squad" option is essentially a few people dropping out of the mission to remain with the shipping. Any attack will be automatically repelled, and the Mercanans will have something to give as a show of gratitude, but there will be less people taking the fight to the carrier's planes.

There are a few minutes of calm and quiet, eventually broken by the Mercanans spotting an incoming enemy flight.
: Looks like you got here just in time, here they come! Ark preserve us, there are so many of them!
: [Only four escorts? This must be a trap. Keep your eyes open, and- what?]

There is a brief silence as the enemy planes draw closer.
: [This cannot be real. Sir, we are not really going to sit here and attack supply ships while that happens, are we?]
: [We certainly will not. Squadron, on me! We are leaving this place.]

it looks incredibly thin and weedy
the model itself isn't bad, its just the proportions make it look like it would snap in half at any moment
if that makes any sense
