More likely she's referring to them using Infantry Fighting Vehicles in more urban environments. Tonks aren't going to be useful in the thick-ass jungle, but when/if you make it to a city it's time to break out the BMDs.

I'm just curious but is Mercanan the regular alphabet or Cyrillic

Mercanan is brown townogous to Arabic
Kintharian is brown townogous to Chinese/Japanese/Kanji/whatever
Gothic, Aesthian, and Huitzitlaotani is brown townogous to the Latin alphabet. Aesthia and the Delta had their own written scripts way the forget back, but they were runic/pictographic in nature. Contact with the Imperium (subjugation in Aesthia's case, trade in the Delta's) caused the Gothic alphabet to rub off on them, and they gradually switched over to it for day-to-day use. The old systems weren't completely stamped out, though, they just aren't going to be seen on road signs/billboards/legal documents/etc.

It thanks you for what it perceived as a compliment and gives a brief, to the point rundown of where all the mundanities like clothes and documents are before getting to the more interesting parts.
