Gus pops two packets of flares and targets the Gripen as he maneuvers out of the way. The distinct tone announcing that the MMS has successfully fired sounds in his headset. He catches the telltale cloud of white smoke out of the corner of his eye as he lines up on Rafale-4. The LCPs shriek to life and several controlled bursts shoot towards the enemy pilot pursuing Sabre.

welp.

Missile after missile crashes into the Gripen, blowing it to pieces and then blowing the pieces to even smaller pieces. The Rafale, however, is unfazed by your light show, and attempts to get behind Sabre.

Viggen-1 is discouraged from pursuing further by the missile hitting it side-on. The second one of the group evades the PPC snap-shot, but has a chunk carved out of its fuselage by the LCB.

"Good effect on target! You're free to go, leave these thugs to us!"
: Right-o, moving to site 3!
The Razorbacks change heading and start going for 3, with Rafales 1 and 2 in pursuit.

Walt flies past the dome and turns around to dumb the remainder of his rockets along with a shot fro. The gauss cannon into the dome.

"Hopefully this does it then we can get out of here."
Tippy dumps an AGM into the radar tower
If anything was still functioning inside that dome, it's not anymore.

Since the interceptors are at site 2 and your team is finished at 1, I will interperet this as you moving your team closer to the action.

"Woo! Good stuff, Razorbacks!"
I loop around and try to latch on to a Viggen, pushing my Razorback to its limits.
I really need a new aircraft.
The Viggens are currently occupied trying to evade Sabre, allowing you to sneak up on them without enough resistance to justify a roll.

"...forget."

The PAK FA whips around and accelerates towards the Rafale flight. Two AAMs hiss as they pop off their pylons and out of the internal bays, streaking towards Rafales 1 and 2.

The first Rafale gets hit by the missile, but the second manages to dodge theirs. More importantly, though, their attempts to evade threw their RGMs off-course, sparing the Mercanans. The Gripen turns its attention to you, launching two All-Aspects of its own.

The AAM seekers cool down, and the growl tone winds up. Richard pulls around and fires at the third and fourth Rafales entering the scene, one missile apiece. "Fox 2 medium on the second element!"

Rafale-3 opts to stay on target to allow its missile to connect with one of the Mercanan planes, and gets its roosterpit blown off for its trouble. Number 4 wisely decides to evade, firing a heatseeker as it completes its maneuver.
: [Darn!] Number two engine is losing oil pressure, but other than that I'm just peachy. Thanks anyway for the assist.

The Mercanan flight commences their run, the foremost plane knocking out the stationary PD with guns and rockets, allowing the next two to each fling a pair of bombs on to the dome, blowing it and the sensitive equipment inside to pieces. The Viggens are waiting for the Mercanans at the end of their strafing run, and waste no time coming around to get behind the cumbersome strike planes.

"On it!"
I dive at the anti-munitions tank, firing my lasers, then pull away immediately so I don't crash and burn.
The LAMS tank is destroyed.

Jaakko maneuvers for a second pass, peaks above the treeline, fires a shot towards what he predicts as being the center of the base of the dish, then pitches back out of sight.
Jets of fire shoot out the hole you had recently made, indicating that whatever you hit, its reaction was not pretty. However, despite flying low as is safely possible, one of the SAM sites pitches a missile your way.

I fire my UAC and sling 6 Heavy rockets at the SAM and mobile AA
The SAM and AAA are knocked out, but you take light damage from the PD turret.

ESAM-E4 : Rapid Locking
I looked at that and you were right. Wow that was a pretty useless module. It's all fixed now, though. E4 is now a less-potent ARTEMIS provided for the entire flight. You can only simultaneously shoot at two targets instead of four, but hey, it's provided for "free" to everyone in the flight.

Before anyone gets on his case, I just know ive said before (but cant find the post where) that you can fire on 2 separate targets in a single turn without ARTEMIS, but only 2. No more than that.

Tippy switches to her cannon already irritated at the intervention of the laser AA. The shot hitting the target wasn't very likely but she was determined. Her window was closing and she really didn't want her opening line to be a complete miss.

first day back and i'm already doing stupid risky stuff. I must be really cooked in the brain.

Tippy lines up the shot and goes for gold
The AAA launches a missile right before it is blown to pieces by the oversized cannon shell lobbed at it by the UAC. With its parent vehicle destroyed and no longer providing guidance, the missile sails past your roosterpit and spirals off into the distance.

And that's what I get for that.
"Ark loving dammit."

The Razorback takes a direct hit from the SAM, but keeps soldiering on

Jaakko peaks above the treeline and fires a plasma bolt at the radar dome, before getting back down and out of sight of the AA.
The crackling green bolt punches right through the radome and comes out the other side. It's unclear how much damage you did to the antenna inside, and having ducked back out of sight, you can't quite see for yourself.

Walt Fires his Gauss rifle at the mobile Point Defense then changes course to engage the mobile AA and SAM to the right
The Gauss slug punches right through the unfortunate point-defense vehicle, likely liquefying whoever was crewing it.

Meanwhile at site 2, the Mercanans have aligned for their second run, and the patrol has arrived to put a stop to them. Making matters worse, the unidentified contacts are now identified, and within weapons range. Three of the Rafales open fire on the Razorbacks.
: Ignore the missiles, stay on target! Mjolnir, distract these punks!

the patrol knows that we're at site 2 or they know exactly where we are?
they know site 2 is under attack from the air
that is the extent of their knowledge, they do not know who is doing it or exactly where they are

Walt turns to set up his sights on the nearest defense to his aircraft sighting in the gauss rifle to fire once he's in range.
That would be the mobile point-defense.

"Sabre, I'm climbing back to altitude. That patrol is bound to be coming back now."
Sure enough, the patrol has been notified and is now speeding back towards site B to deal with the intruders. Though they are in radar range, they don't fire on you yet. Apparently they aren't carrying RGMs. Not only the patrol has noticed your presence, however, as another set of unidentified contacts appears at long range, coming from deeper inside Deltan territory.

"Tempest, Sabre, copy. Maintain altitude and report contact. Razorback flight, make it quick!"
: We're coming around now. This time packing something with a bit more punch than rockets. Just keep them off us.

Tippy swoops in and attacks the mobile AA to the left of the tower with an AGM
The Laser-AA track out in front zaps the solitary missile out of the sky. The AAA you shot the missile at opens up with a barrage of (ineffectual, at this range) anti-air gunfire and attempts to acquire a missile lock. At this point you could try using the cannon, something that can't be shot down; or play it safe and break off to try another run later.

"Sabre, I'm gonna go in on an attack run!"
I try to fling two of my bombs on to the damaged radome, pitching up and accelerating, then dropping the bombs as soon as the digital sight covers the radome, then accelerate away.
The still-functional PD tank pops one of your bombs before it reaches the target, engulfing the other in the explosion. The remaining SAM site launches a missile your way.

Blue arrives at site 1, and the extent of the defenses is made apparent. Pink shows up at 2 just in time to see the Mercanans lay waste to the area with a hail of shells and rockets, but the radar dome stands tall at the end of their strafing run.
: How, oh how is that thing still standing? Do these crazy bastards slap ten tons of armor on everything? Mjolnir, since you're here, keep an eye on the sky while we set up for a second run, they definitely know we're here now.

jesus whats with all the negativity

"Yeah, is it okay if I break off and join the Mercanan flight as well?"

"Negative, stay with the flight,"
Tippy maintains her airspeed with the rest of her group, the target zone looming off in the distance. She eyeballs her indicator for any detection warnings.
Blue team successfully circumvents the patrol, and is now almost in range of site alpha.

"That won't be necessary. We're changing course to site 2. Ensuring the Mercanans complete their objective and survive takes priority over destroying the third installation. We can worry about that later."

The Sabre banks and changes heading.
"Got it." The PAK FA rolls and changes heading gently. The tree canopy below shudders violently as the supersonic plane passes over.
Pink changes course and attempts to catch up to the Mercanans.
: We're arriving at Bravo now, setting up for our run. Hope you guys are ready, I can't guarantee they won't call for help once the attack is underway.

"Tourist and Hawkeye, you two switch flights.

"Crash, take Tippy, Walt, and Tourist, circumvent the patrol and attack site 1. Try to avoid detection. I'll take Hawkeye and Tempest to attack site 3."

Richard turns right, sets a new waypoint and designates 1200kph as its target airspeed.

"Tempest, Hawkeye, stay on me. We're gonna hit the dirt and haul ass. These forgeters aren't going to see what's coming."

The Sabre descends to treetop level. Richard pushes forward on the power and accelerates.
Jaakko breaks left out of formation.

"You heard him, you three with me. Sabre, I just realized, we forgot ESAM,"
Mjolnir splits into two subflights, pink and blue. The patrol continues on its way, not spotting blue team.

: Well, while you deal with that patrol, we will head for site 2. We won't be much use in a dogfight, anyway.

The Mercanans break off and start heading their own direction.

The light green square is Mjolnir, dark green is the Mercanans. Red is the patrol. Each dot represents where you'll be in 1 turn.

As you enter the operational area, two contacts appear at long range. They show no signs of having spotted you yet, but are traveling in your direction. Unless the squadron changes course, they may detect Crash, Walt, or Tourist, as they are not using stealth airplanes.

"The more fire power avaliable for this the easier it should be, does your flight have any additional data on the area yet?"
: We know nothing more than what our guys shared with yours. Sat-Track showed a little over a dozen ground-based AA emplacements spread among the radar sites, with an airfield farther behind the front. We're supposed to be either quiet or fast about this, or else that airfield might start sending up reinforcements and then we'll be in a whole heap of trouble.
