bloukface is weird as stuff but there's no actual evidence that they're a child enthusiast, and foxscotch just hangs around everyone who was in the furry megathread years ago. that being said, don't respond to fox since they unequivocally argue in favor of their friends and are i think pushing 24-25~.
if you're having to argue with a grown adult why it's unfair to compare being booted from a friend group because they dislike you to being swiftly and permanently removed from public discords (both a random blockland community discord and the public facing discord of a game where more than one of the actives discuss and draw furry paw research and antagonize members outside of the community) for little to no reason then you're being baited.

ultimately paying doesn't matter here and paying will never matter - unless in the next 2 months everything suddenly flips to being fine, fair and courteous this will continue happening and you'll look stupid for arguing for the brickadia devs because the writing was literally on the wall and has been for years

If you're still here, years after new account creation has been disabled, if you have thousands or even tens of thousands of posts here you choose to make...
I really do believe there had to be something fundamentally decent about this place to keep you coming back.
not really, it's just comfortable. i can't really name a single explicitly good memory i've had through these forums, just neutral and bad ones, and i continue to talk here because i know the people here; i've encountered far better people, potentially lifelong friends and some of the most charismatic people i think i'll ever meet in other spaces, but i don't know them inside and out like i do these forums and some of the people on it. obviously i am an outlier here with an almost exclusively negative experience, though.

i wouldn't really be talking here if i was on my lonesome, though, as nearly all of the remaining users here have had plenty of negative experiences with it and, like me, only realized a lot of what happened to them as an adult. even for the users who left, there's plenty of evidence of people leaving and never coming back or just having bad times here in the drama board.

it's much easier to join an active discord server for a specific topic and ask for help in real time VS emailing support or going to some forum and posting a topic waiting days on end for a response. it's just a great tool for communication in general
okay, but for example, would you rather if stackoverflow was a discord or a forum? how easy is it to just google a question affixed with 'stackoverflow' and just find an answer to it, even if it's not the exact wording due to semantic search? would you rather ask first and potentially get ignored or posted over by some other dude who posts a 3150 line log.txt in their discord message, completely drowning out your post, or have a forum where your message is guaranteed to be seen as all posts take up the same amount of space?

It's actually going to be a loving huge issue like 5 years from now purely from the information perspective. There's going to be a gap in our knowledge because all the discussion occurred in stuff ass discord servers which are now locked away/deleted. Web designers are going to innovate us into desolation trying to find meaning in their occupation.
i've already run into this issue; data just kind of disappeared if it was hosted on a discord from 2017-2019 for the most part and socially it sucks. someone dmed you something and you don't share servers with them anymore or they deleted their account? after a while you can no longer access your dms with them. it sucks ass if you have an older discord account.

i've always thought it would be neat if people did a deep dive on what this game to people and uploaded it to youtube or smth

there was an attempt by pie crust to groom me and he also spammed my personal discord with dog research when i was 12; my friend, nix made a thread about it, and literally nothing happened. people defended him in that thread, and he was allowed to continue existing on the forums, ingame and more importantly in the circles where i had met him, while i was made fun of for not knowing what to do in this situation. i brought up this experience in the bcc a few times and was hit with a No Drama, and upon calling him out when he had joined the disc at first i got hit with this;

posted this elsewhere and it pretty much sums up my experience. blockland and these forums were a big part of my social interaction in my earlier years when i was 10-13, since i was abused as a child and i had recently gotten put out of my house when i first started exploring these forums. for a while until i got better friends i had a really forgeted up view of how things worked because my every action had been scrutinized while the worst of the worst could seemingly get away with anything, and i wasn't allowed to criticize them or even be one of their targets (see the pie crust drama linked).
when i wasn't being actively harassed by people now in their mid 20's, i always was intrigued by how feral the drama board made people. rarely was it about anything of real note - you could be an active nuisance and have people argue for you if you were popular enough on the forums - people were after like, minor character flaws. were you a furry teenager? that's worth at least 75 pages. were you trans and didn't like being harassed for it? here's a decent thirty three. were you a child? half an hour comin up.
it's really depressing thinking that no one thought to openly speak out against anything that ever happened here, especially not the adults and more influencial users

brickadia, being run by and partially composed of blocklanders, has these exact same issues on a larger scale. for example, here's a user who posted about being silently excommunicated shortly after talking about port in an entirely unrelated discord to brickadia:

they were unbanned and the team admitted it was a mistake, but i was also platform banned under similarly dubious circumstance after talking about an entirely random shotacon who was active in their discord and it's doubtful i'm the last one
would like to note that content from the developers that were there is still there, like the stuff from aeonara/ozmar

i and most of the other people here were children when they were actively doing it, and i also remember participating in said shunning and no one caring/it being played off as righteous for some reason

there was also the times i kept pointing out that port was a shotacon ingame whenever i had met them and it was never acknowledged somehow, or nickpb's existence on the forums and the fact that i was an active harassment target of theirs

i mean, i want to hear it, and it'd be as easy as pointing out misinformation and saying 'hey, this isn't true because of (x)'

calling a hit out or smth because someone dropped this in a server i'm in and i wanted to be able to discuss what's false or not with the man himself. i think quite a lot could be solved if things were discussed publicly instead of in brickadia chat or smth

Been actively participating in the discord for about 2 1/2 years now and played about 500 hours, honestly haven't seen any real drama or anything negative since that dev was kicked over two years ago. Generally everyone is really friendly and I haven't noticed any particular heavy handedness in moderation, aside from a few small choices that annoy me (all gifs posted in the discord get deleted by the bot mod, really?). I do think it'd be a fair assessment to say that the devs have a fairly short tolerance for people trying to start stuff, if you're deliberately being a nuisance or repeatedly poking the bear there's a good chance you'll be muted in the Discord, or get your free alpha access revoked if you're really going the extra mile, but generally for 99% of people it is NOT hard to not get banned, just be a decent person and interact in good faith. And leave any tribal/homophobic/sensible/xenophobic stuff at the door.

It's honestly kind of funny seeing the way it's described so viscerally negatively by some in this thread, it's just so dissonant to how generally positive and good the countless interactions I've witnessed in the game's community over these last few years have been from my perspective.
you're in the in-group. you are the everyman. your view of the community and moderation as being totally perfect is curated. like, one of my main gripes is that the mods were literally going out of their way to poke me at times, like deleting a literal pair of digitigrade legs while i was asking for feedback while learning how to draw because they believed it was nsfw, in which case i had to be defended by regulars because i could not be heard out by the moderators. i can't get many other examples because i'm banned from the discord aside from an attempt to permanently mute me for 0 reason a while ago which was only stopped by me bringing it up publicly, again, but there's other testimony you can get from plenty of people, such as for the recent automod fiasco or kokonut's still ongoing permanent mute for reposting something a dev had posted in dev-media, among other things

that's the problem, they don't want to lol
you're right - i am a super homophobic/tribal/sensible/xenophobic user and deserved to be permanently removed from every facet of their platform for saying there was an omori maniac in q/a, as well as a bunch of different blockland users not traditionally associated with doing that who've had issues in the past with brickadia and it's moderation who are also all those things. surely stereotyping everyone outside of the gated community as an evil bad guy is morally righteous and correct and not something that was a prevalent and extremely toxic issue in blockland

i like the idea of brickadia as being a spiritual successor to blockland since it's becoming such a ghost town but i prefer just stickin with old reliable. and like how other ppl mentioned it would be a lot nicer if they just eased up on the harsh punishments over innocuous crimes (words, questions). maybe that's a rarity in games in general more recently, but then that would be yet another selling point to stay with BL. Just let ppl behave like they wish in their own server and others can complain about those hosts in other servers and then everyone goes home happy.
i think they wish to 'avoid blockland' by having overarching moderation in everything which kinda makes no sense. it's fine that they moderate their discord how they'd like to and stuff (although it's silly that most resources relating to the game are stuck in that platform specifically) but because i did this i am totally unable to join games even through direct connect, and people are also unable to join mine at all - if the really radical moderation continues while the game is paid then it just sorta won't have an audience. children, the primary group of people invested in lego, will do much worse than i've ever done to the game, and being permanently banned from multiplayer features because you did something rude or maybe even perceptibly construable as being rude on a multiplayer game is like, totally unheard of because not only does it totally kill player retention it also can make it actually Scary to make an investment into a game, even if you are totally inoffensive as a person, because there is no getting banned from a single server and learning from your mistake or getting bored and coming back when you're a better person, you're just banned. your money is gone. gmod doesn't have moderation this strict because it's sorta antithetical to their audience and the fact that you host servers yourself, but imagine if the time you went abusing darkrp server rules culminated into a permanent online ban for trolling so you were just disallowed from playing with your friends forever without the possibility of a refund

snip
that's just silly, but i guess they don't really care about optics at all so it isn't unexpected
