Wait, people unironically use linux?

I would laugh in your face if I could

yeah i run arch br0.

i generally dislike windows 10 as a service, so i'll run windows where it belongs: in a window.
jokes aside, yeah i prefer linux over windows, yet i won't judge normal people for using windows because it's the industry norm (hell, i have to support windows for my job.)

the real question is, people unironically run macOS?

don't forget to take a photo before u hit post

i hit a major snag with that for now. turns out all the links on the forums go to the HTTPS version which won't work for me. however i could try the wap2 version of the forum tomorrow after i grab a RS232 to USB adapter.

after i take a 4-5 hour morning nap (sleep) i will be grabbing that adapter as mentioned to move all of this fun stuff to my raspi w zero. i bought it originally just to do this, i figured this would make it totally connectable anywhere. on the bright side if i need to connect my wifi, i can do so via the terminal applications i have to control the pi. also i really don't want it tethered to my server anymore since it draws way more power than i should.

i'm actually like kinda slapping myself and saying, "why didn't i do this before?!?!?!!??!" but oh well. you live and you learn. when i was getting the serial cable for this, i got a random one off of newegg for like 30 bucks and it works, but i also bought another one because the first cable i mentioned didn't show up until like 2 months later. not kidding.

down the road i am planning to take this to vintage shows and show it off, 2020 kind of ruined that plan (got it late 2019) so it gave me time to get random stuff like new ADB cables, a floppy emu, a SCSI2SD, new batteries (i got two so i can put one in my iMac as well) so at least i know the thing has life in it. the caps are fine (like AMAZING condition) and no real bad things but a new floppy drive.

here's something else i did to make you happy. it's on par with me posting anything to the forums from the mac.

EDIT: i also changed my forum avatar back to the classic one i've used for years.  :cookieMonster:

so earlier this year i was browsing other phones, and i couldn't escape the new SE. a close friend of mine fixed up a X and sold it to me for dirt cheap, and i loved it. i just traded it in with ATT (700-800 off) for the 12 pro. i love it even more. it's so simple and it just works. i've spent years loving around with android that i just had enough and moved on over. it's not bad at all, i kind of felt like a idiot for stuff talking iOS for years.

also m1 macs are crazy good, but i'm not racing to buy one just yet. tbh, my newest mac atm is a iMac G3 bondi blue from 1998.

Can it play Solitaire?

i have a stuff ton of games on it.

simcity, simearth, civ 1, oregon trail, simant, glider, prince of persia, solitaire, and some others.

others being like the zork trilogy haha.

blockland forums on the macintosh se, surprised cloudflare didnt get in the way lol
good stuff

so what this does is basically strips CSS (it will work with it but trust me it's just horrible looking) and proxies this from HTTP 1.0 to 1.1. this also gets around the whole HTTPS thing.

macweb 2.0 is the only browser that really supports proxying, so i'm stuck with it. i do have ncsa mosaic as well but no proxy support :(

"how'd ya do it without ethernet or dialup???" serial. yes. SERIAL. a whole whopping 950bytes a second.

my ubuntu server has a RS232 port so i am using this for the target machine, which runs a PPP server. iptables is forwarding everything from PPP to the internet.

things you can do other than very slow web browsing: IRC, Bitlbee (basically pidgin for IRC), Terminal, and TelNet.

spent a week trying to get all the software in motion (and my mac emulator so i can make virtual floppies to transfer them over) but TCP/IP works on my 1989 macintosh.

tempted to grab gifhelper and see if it will load the images too...

figured i'd share this here hahahah.

This is Blockland's credits theme after you recover the golden brick at the end of the adventure mode

it really sounds like some credits music lmao. i was thinking easy listening radio at first.

obviously y'all know about this whole thing by now. i've been playing around with this with my DAW and i've been making some cool beats with it. - the start of the madness - this is only just the 3 samples from the CD + the gorillaz "tomorrow comes today" drum sample - some 5000 sounds drum loops but now we have all the after school special stems - decided to try to make a 90's style boom bap beat with the provided material. it came out kinda well. (yes that's a clock ticking) - a strange bongo filled beat. i wanna do another version of it. - AKA stress beat 1.0. there's a better version i have yet to record of this.
deep cut version: - there's some GREAT house/club tracks and i wanted to make some legit mixes of these as opposed to listening to 1 loop.

at some point i will package this up all into one mixtape and have finished beats, but curious what y'all think of the idea here? any requests of what i should try?

Hahaha, what a loving trip.

yeah icygamma has been the butt of my modern blockland jokes. in fact when i met swholli, we talked about it over pasta.

however, he was pretty groundbreaking. i kinda wish all of the old podcasts are still up but they're gone...and all we have is this DAMN biography. at first i was like uhhh okay but now it's like lmao why did he make it. i didn't really care about him mentioning me, but the whole thing was pretty bad ngl.

>trying to reboot blockoworld post 2014. too low of playercounts to do it.
>same with blockchella
>hanging out with known trolls*
>being mentioned in icygamma's autobiography 7 times.
>only doing blockoworld and some new years eve parties with ievent (we did a mod or two but that was it)
>ievent being the only real thing i did with blockland
>didn't back up most of my saves

on the *: yes. one of my first blockland friends was plaz. i got into stuff with him but we ended up being bros...but still i did somehow have contact with cantoxe and some others. it was weird but i'm just fair to most then, i still am somewhat.
hell, just search the truce thread about him and the 2 others that had their keys revoked, i'll pop right up.

same with the icygamma thing, i was really good with outreach with ievent and project. i'd try to get on all the blockland media on youtube to promote blockoworld and stuff, and that lead me to icygamma alot. hell, when he wrote the bio, i noticed in the server log he was popping on at around 3AM randomly and i'm like wtf random icy, and started talking to him again. was just flattered to be mentioned but lol, oops.

but really other than that, blockland is still one HELL of a ride.
