Modification Help / Re: Collision meshes and Shadows

Bumping because I'd really like to fix this problem. Also there's an issue where the collision mesh becomes visible at a distance.

Looks like v2 is going to be coming out soon then.

708
If I was able to see the collision mesh, what would it look like?

derp
It's a big ugly grey blob.

709
If it's a bug fix, wouldn't it be like, V1.2?

Or are you actually editing the model?
Well, see if this happens for you. Try viewing the fighter from a long distance away, not zoomed in. Do you get some weird graphical glitch that shows the collision mesh?

710
Here's an idea for V2:

Instead of the open roosterpit, why don't you make a sort of a locked-in type thing. As in like, sort of a gate above it.
Well v2 is probably coming soon anyways because I just now stumbled upon a weird graphical glitch when the jet is viewed from far away.

oh I know why i think it looks weird
on your hand-drawing the wings looked shorter
Well I lied about it being exactly the same but it's pretty damn close, see?

711
huh. I guess it's the angle that makes it look weird.
The width from front to back does that too.

As for the open roosterpit, the glass bubble idea was just not cooperating. I figured that the addon would be enjoyed more universally this way too.

712
I still think the wingspan is a little wide but other than that it looks like a really cool militarized minijet.
I measured it out, the wingspan is almost exactly the same as the Minijet's.

Gentlemen, we've done it:

Modification Help / Collision meshes and Shadows

I've searched everywhere but I can't find a solution to this problem.

I want to create a shadow on my vehicle that doesn't use the collision mesh, but the actual vehicle itself. I've seen plenty of other vehicles pull this off, and I have no idea how to go about doing it.

I'm using Milkshape. Using the regular DTS exporter does it just fine, but then flat-shading won't work. Using the DTSPlus exporter does flat-shading, but the shadow is of the collision mesh. How do I get both flat-shading and a non-collision mesh shadow?

yeah, it was the "bach" i couldnt figure out

and ace couldnt explain it to me
Stop posting my last name on the forums.

Keep in mind that the MiniSpaceJet is supposed to mimic the original Minijet, so I have size restrictions i have to stand by. I'll do what I can to make it look slightly less silly but I'm really limited in that aspect.

718
It looks nice, but maybe if you resize the glass like it is in the image it'll look better?
If I do that then the player won't be able to completely fit inside.

719
Initial modeling complete. It does look rather silly with the glass over the roosterpit but that was to be expected. :P

The engineering staff aboard the Hakurei has come up with something of use to us:
