Backstory
I work at a grocery store as the Maintenance Manager aka "The Porter". What that essentially is, is the guy who keeps things running, neat and orderly. If a soda machine breaks down, I have to fix it. If a light goes out, I replace it. If somebody dies in the bathroom, I dispose of the evidence. My job is not limited to cleaning, repairs, and overall store appearance. I take the departments trash away, clean the bathrooms and sweep floors when needed.

"Hmm, could you rearrange all that... Again?"

Because of the latest blizzard my region had, our store had to bring all the shopping carts into the store to keep them from being buried under three feet of snow. The ones left outside were flipped backwards for some dumb reason. Now that the snow is taken care of, I was the poor fool assigned to bring all the carts back to where they should be. The guy that was supposed to loving do this called out cause his dog was choking on a hot dog, idfk.. Now, before I began to haul these sonsabitches back I ask: "Should I flip them back around?" Meaning "should I flip them the way they normally are." The store director looks at me and says "Yes. Flip them around." Okay, it won't be fun or easy, but I'll do it. After an hour or so, I finish. All the carts are out and facing one way and they are all back outside.

Hours later, the store director comes to me and tells me "Oh, the carts should be backwards. Go flip them all back." Oh fantastic. You want me to go and flip all the carts back around again for a second time? Sure, why the forget not!? While Im at it, should I also adjust all the isles to be parallel to the equator too!?
It also doesn't help that they gave me full day shifts on all four days dying the blizzard. Starting when the snow began to fall to when it was all taken care of. But that's not so important.. But really.. Why the hell would they.. Never mind.

Summary

Was told to flip all the carts in the store around and organize them just to be told to put them back the way they were. Also was given max hours over a blizzard and was fully expected to shovel the store out the entire time. forget my job.

Off Topic / Forum Blocked at Work

When Im at work and I have a break, I like to pop on the forums to see what's up. My store has it's own wifi so I can browse quickly.
Now only recently did I find the forums is blocked under "not meeting user agreements". I can't go to the forums when at work now unless I use the weak 4G I have.

The reason it was blocked was because of all the "inappropriate" content in the off topic board.
So thanks guys. Thanks for making my job a bit less enjoyable.

Suggestions & Requests / Paralyze Playertype

I require a playertype that cannot move and cannot activate/click. Sort of like No Move Playertype, but one step further. Id like this to not use the no move playertype code either.

No Move Playertype slides around if placed on a ramp or incline, I dont want that.
No moving at all (other then looking around), no activation, no items use.

Presenting: Entropy Manor, a large mansion placed in the center of a secluded forest.


About:
As it is now, we plan to use this for several custom Gamemodes. We have one planned as of now.
(More on the other Gamemode specifics when we have the server ready for launch)
At about 55k bricks in total, this mansion is quite large. Plenty of secret rooms to find.

Right now, main eventing is taking place and may take a bit of time to complete. Nearly all unique items and props will be evented to do something. The First Gamemode in the works is called "Trap Manor". More on that below.

First of all, check out some pictures of the actual build. Some range from night shots (Default) to day shots as some rooms would be too dark for imaging.

Final Word:
Now, I couldn't possibly take pictures of everything so these images cover about 1/2 of whats really there. Also, the images of the rooms I posted don't fully do the rooms justice as some detail I had my back to while taking these shots.

If you'd like specific shots of something that you'd like to get a better look at, just ask. I can't guarantee a quick reply, but Ill do what I can.

Simple question:

What part of the code depicts if the arm comes up after a weapon is fired?
I need to be able to turn it off, but I can't find the area of the code that controls this.

Is it possible to be able to change environment settings client sided so that only specific people see set lighting/shadows?

An event system that sets a saved preset environment for the client would be great for more realistic environments set to particular zones. You could go from a snowy area to a beach in the same server without interfering with any other players experience.

Help / Brick Ownership is Broken

When I save a build with ownership, the ownership does save.
BUT, if I save another persons bricks who built on my bricks their ownership does NOT.

Why?
Does this happen to everybody?

Off Topic / My dad is a Genius

There's a dead tree in my parent's back yard right on the edge of the property overlooking a shed some lady owns a door over and my father wants to cut it down. The thing is, if he can't manage to fall it away from that shed he'll be in deep stuff.

The scenario looks like this:



His best idea is to tie a loving piece of string to it (like 1.5mm thick, some wimpy stuff) and have somebody pull on it to bring it down into away from that shed while he cuts it through.

The "rope" he's using is old, wet, half frozen, and this is no small tree. I predict that the rope will break and my father will wind up being sued. He is too stubborn to listen to me when I say "This string your using wont work." Why he called me over to help annoys me.

I ditched that train wreck before he comes asking for damages money.

Events that trigger on touch.

If the player looks up while touching the built ladder, the player climbs up.
If the player looks down while touching the built ladder, the player climbs down.
Perhaps an option to set climb speed up/down.

Would this work?

Roy the Ship


Presenting Roy the Ship, the main map for BBB. A four month reconstruction of Roy the Ship used for TTT in GMod containing 32K bricks. Not much to say other than what a project.
Entirely made by me, Mr.Noßody.

The two garage doors on the side of the ship are the only addition to the ship that is not there in GMod. It bugged me that those doors did not lead anywhere, nor was there any sign on them from the hull so I went and made them have a use. They replace the ladder on that side of the ship.

Creativity / The Making of Majora's Mask

Cut from wood


For my 3D Design class final I decided to create Majora's Mask. The entire thing is made out of red maple, a harder wood. In respect I spent 3 full days working to complete it so that it was finished on "The Final Day". I had a good time making this thing so the three days used was totally worth it.

Here are some pics, because I know you guys like those..


Step 1: Shaping - Had to get the rough shape of the mask cut out of a 2" thick plank of red maple


Had to add an extra bottom piece because the board was not big enough



Step 2: The Spikes - The shaping and placement of the spikes
To keep the spikes stable, I drilled a pair of holes in the mask and each spike then glued them with a dowel
(A dowel is a cylindrical piece of wood with a spiral groove that fits the hole, most stable with wood glue)


Step 3: Painting - I accidental skipped the picture of the spikes being placed, but here's the closest thing to it
The first step of painting. Spikes already layed out and secured. Face penciled out as a reference.


Finished Mask - Fully painted

I think I did an okay job.


I still need to add a color gradient on the tips of the bottom spikes.

Needs a better name

A small project I completed in my spare time by request by Jerkface. We hope to use this in some kind of mini bar-fight DM server.
I like how it came out, take a look.

Update: 12/12/12 (Nice date)
Edited the environment to make it more dusty, added more tables/beer bottles/etc., added some NPC's to see how they fit the scene, and added some Wanted Posters/misc prints on the walls.




Note: A save for this build will be available along with a brick/addon list in the near future.
The server will be hosted at some point as well. We still need to finish a few small things..

Give feedback or whatever, blah blah blah, rate if you want. Whatever..

Paper Mario Sticker Star



Oh god it's bad. This is not the Paper Mario squeal I was hoping for.
They start if off with another lame holiday/celebration they made up to celebrate stickers. forget my life stickers. I hope you like them, cause almost everything you do is dictated by them. Wanna attack an enemy? Hope you have the attack sticker, wanna fix the bridge? Hope you got the bridge sticker.

The only thing Ive found comfort in is having the ability to use the hammer in the over world. Speaking of the over world, they got rid of most of it! Yeah, now they have the "traditional" level select screen when you leave an area. They did away with a world you can explore and filled the gaps with that bullstuff.

No items, no partners, no badges, no FP, no leveling, all that remains is turn base combat. I am highly disappointed. Why can't Nintendo just stick to what works? Its what everyone wants anyway! At least they worked more "paper" into "Paper Mario".

Suggestions & Requests / RPG Style Text Boxes

My suggestion a set of events that let you set and controll text boxes with the ability to have them roll in a chain. Instead of having to use timed events that may be too fast for some readers, these events would allow players to continue a text chain at the pace they like. Players would simply have to hit the assigned "next" button. Perhaps an RTB option to set this button. (Left click/spacebar)

This would make RPG bot interactions like quest and storylines much easier to set up.
I know we have prompt events, but they don't fit my needs and only have "yes, no, and okay" options.
