Help / Scrabled Eventing
« on: March 31, 2011, 08:56:54 PM »
It would appear that my eventing would be normal to me, to other people that check them, there all scrambled.

Say I event a brick that sends a relay that changes its color. The event works fine for everyone that activates it, but if checked by someone else, the eventing would change from OnPlayerActivate>self>FireRelay, to something random like, OnBotToutch>NamedBrick"Henry">SpawnExplosion or something.

What is this nonsense and how do I fix it?

1) Horizontal Pole/Spike Bricks: Vertical Poles are amazing, but they really need some horizontal action here. Same goes for spike bricks. This is LONG overdue.

2) Exit Camera Event: Along with letting the user hit "L" to exit the camera, I say we should have an event for involuntary camera canceling making cut-scenes seem more fluent.

3) Camera Move Events: We all love the camera events although its prompt may be slow at times, what we need now is an event that will make the camera glide from one named brick to another. Optional focus would be nice.

4) Better Tree Bricks: This is long overdue, we need better tree bricks other than the generic pine tree that's about the size of our player. You can build tree's yourself, but they rack up brick count like nobody's business. They just need to be bigger with better detail.

5) Message Box Options Event: Like Message Box OK and prompt events, just with more options, I'm asking for a message box with more options than OK, Yes or NO, that you can set. Id, say four would be optimal.

I know most of these idea have already been discussed before, but I feel they should be brought up again to be discussed.

Suggestions & Requests / Searching Stupidity
« on: March 10, 2011, 03:13:26 PM »
Why does the search function on this forums search for key words from POSTS in threads, and not the thread name itself?
You'd think matching thread names would become highest priority on the search results, but naw.

Now, I could possibly be wrong with this assumption, but from what I've witnessed with use of the 'Search' button it appears to dis-guards thread names.

Help / Audio Problem.
« on: March 03, 2011, 08:04:01 PM »
It seems that the closer I get to something that emits a noise (Music Brick for example) the louder it gets till my speakers climax. But the farther I get from it, the quieter it gets till it just fades away.

Is this a new feature? Or just my speaker/audio settings?
If its a setting/my speaker, how can I fix it? If its a new feature, I really dislike it...

Suggestions & Requests / Message Box (Options)
« on: February 28, 2011, 10:29:06 PM »
We all know there's an event that sends a message box with either Yes/No, or just "Okay", what I'm asking for is one that can have up to 4 options that you can set.

An example being, You click on a door, a message box comes up saying "The door is locked, what do you want to do?" With 1-4 Options that you can set like, "Force door| Knock| Lick Door| Walk away".

I don't see why this hasn't yet been made, and if it has, the search button was no help...

Suggestions & Requests / Welcome Message "Favorite Bar"
« on: February 25, 2011, 01:09:32 PM »
Like for avatars, or brick sets that you can save and change with the numbered options, I think the welcome message to your server should have the same function.
It would make changing server themes easier. You wouldn't have to re-type welcome messages.

General Discussion / Definition of "Spam"
« on: February 14, 2011, 09:37:43 PM »
Attention: Spam is NOT defined as anything "Not on a base plate." as common myth claims.
Its defined as: "Anything that uses more bricks than necessary".

An example being: Say your making a wall (1x12x5 standard), but instead of using that one brick the (1x12x5), you use 12 1x1x5's to simulate the same effect...
Even a less dramatic split, like 3 1x4x5's is still technically spam. Avoid doing this unless used for a visual purpose.

In conclusion, just because its not red or on a base plate does not mean it isn't spam..
The point of not 'spamming' is to reduce brick count which will cut lag resulting in a smoother gameplay.

Not to mention, Spam is ugly. Take your time with your builds. Don't take the easy way out...
_____________________________ _____________________________ _____________________________ ___

To those who understand this already, Im sorry. It probably seems silly, "Why would you feel the need to post this?" But to some, its a new concept.

It seems like fewer and fewer people truly understand what 'spam' really is and its starting to bugging me.

Too many times have I joined a server just to see an otherwise good build, ruined by excessive use of small bricks. The aspect needs to be refreshed...

Suggestions & Requests / SFX Volume Spikes
« on: February 09, 2011, 06:48:55 PM »
Its starting to piss me off how if you duck and do anything that makes a noise, like dieing, using the paint can/ printer, the sound it makes is turned into an ear rape.

Something like dieing from fall damage is turned into base blasting, speaker maxing, ear rape party that the neighbors can hear. Sure, I can turn down the FX volume, but then all normal FX sounds are too quiet.

Its like client sounds originate from your player's lower half, and by getting closer, causes the volume to spike. Its pissing me off! This was NEVER a problem before! What the hell changed!? Is it a setting that may have toggled on!? Or is it some sort of stuffty update!?

It needs to be fixed dammit!

Suggestions & Requests / Responsive Body Part Playertype
« on: January 02, 2011, 02:10:25 PM »
We all know that its possible to check if a projectile hits a certain part of your player. How else would headshot guns work?

What I'm asking for is a playertype, that all pieces of the body are damageable with effects.
(Shot in the legs: Speed Decrease)
(Shot in the hand with your weapon: May drop weapon)
(Shot in the other hand: Reload speed decrease)
(Shot in the head: Extra Damage, and blurs vision)
(Anywhere else would be normal damage)
Not to mention, with a display on your screen that shows the condition of your body parts in percentages.

If a body part becomes fully degraded, say a leg, you can no longer move, or a exponential decrease in efficiency.

All damage would be the same to your player when shot in the Torso/Pants, halved when shot in the Arms/Legs, and doubled when shot in the head.

The idea came from Fallout.
