Off Topic / I feel a huge disconnect from other humans, anyone else?
« on: March 23, 2013, 10:01:52 PM »
I know I don't post here much anymore due to school and work, but for those of you who aren't familiar with me, let me preface this by saying the following; I'm a relatively normal guy. Great, now we can begin.

Recently, I haven't been able to deal with anyone except for my girlfriend. Everyone else is "two dimensional" to me, and I have been struggling to emotionally bond with others. I can't think of them as people, really they're just there. I'm not horribly excited to see any of my friends, and when I do see them, I find myself silently disagreeing with them, they also are two dimensional, as if I'm surrounded by a race of sentient cardboard cutouts. Interaction with others frustrates me, and I actively want to avoid it as much as I can. I feel almost depressed, but I'm not sad. I feel emotion normally, but the same things don't make me happy anymore. I find it easier to come home, do my work, and sink into a game of Midieval II: Total War than to go out with friends and the like. I do the same things over and over, and it's driving me insane. My parents don't feel like real people either.

Now, before I end this post, I need to say, my girlfriend is the most three dimensional figure I know. We do most everything together when we can see each other, and she's absolutely amazing. Everyone else is a problem for me, however.

Has anyone else ever experienced something similar, where other people don't feel "real" and interaction can be frustrating and awkward?

tl;dr I feel like the world around me is as realistic as a James Bond movie

Off Topic / Today I learned I might have a brain tumor/cancer
« on: November 29, 2012, 08:53:02 PM »
Yep, you read the thread title properly. I've been to three different doctors this week, and they all cited the possibility of a tumor, potentially a cancerous one, in my brain. On Tuesday, I went blind in one eye for the whole day. Then, my vision returned the next morning, but I cannot see colors properly, they are all far too dark in my left eye. I went to an eye doctor guy, my normal doctor, and a neurologist, all citing either permanent damage to my optical nerve or a tumor which could arise from cancer. I have to get my braces pulled off to get an MRI to see whether I do or do not have cancer. It sucks balls. Discuss stuffty medical news I guess.

Off Topic / Chesse20 Appreciation Thread
« on: November 23, 2012, 01:10:24 PM »
Oh stuff, time for another appreciation thread. But, who could this one be about? We've already had Stephen King and Nicholas Cage! Ohohoh, I've got a surprise in store for you, bitch, because this one is about Chesse20. But who is this Chesse20? He was an incredibly helpful member of this community from 2009-2010, and I have had the pleasure of playing in game with him once. It's sad that he left us two years ago, because he contributed so much and was a shining beacon of hope and brought laughter with him wherever he went :c

Here are some of his wonderful and prestigious clans:

The army of moushtache men builders (taom)
crazy idiots that eat their own bed and say where my bed go (cibb )

Well, children, let's hear some of his notable quotes!

I had an idea that I touched upon briefly in the "What Instrument Do You Play?" thread; What if all of the musically talented forumers made music together? I feel like we do have a slightly negative aspect of community here, and I want to change that through music. I feel that, whether we like or hate one another, we can still enjoy creation of beautiful noise together. I guess we would play music decided upon as a group one way or another. As a proof of concept, would anyone like to do this? What instrument could you contribute? Discuss this idea c:

Off Topic / I wrote a poem today, constructive criticism for me?
« on: November 16, 2012, 09:17:02 PM »
Alright, today I was feeling kinda stuffty, so I decided to sit down and write something in one of my notebooks. After 20 or so minutes, I had the following poem all written out as you'll see it. Can I get some constructive criticism on my writing and how to improve it?

Quote
JACK-O-LANTERNS

My Jack O’ Lanterns lay on the shelf
Down in the basement
I made them myself

Take a man’s head
Spoils of war
Pull out the brains
It can be quite a chore

Gouge out the eyes
Break off the nose
Pop out the teeth so the mouth cannot close

Carve a big smile
Ear to ear
More frightful than a gourd
Conveying even more fear

You have the trimmings
A face scary as any
Do you want some?
I have far too many

Off Topic / Hey guys, I wrote something
« on: September 11, 2012, 10:40:48 PM »
Alright, so recently I've been feeling like stuff, so I decided to write something. It's kinda poem-ish, but it has no title. Constructive criticism please. Thanks c:

Untitled
Nothing left to do
Too much to say
I don't want you
Please go away

Stalin and Riddler
Indoctrinating the masses
Too blind to see through their lies
Attending all their classes

I'm stuck in a teapot
with no way out
scalding and burning
can't climb  the spout

My boat has left
Bon voyage, adieu
I'm leaving the both
I've had enough of you

Apologetic glances
I don't buy it at all
Don't even look at me
not passing in the hall

Two pins standing up
Points digging into my skin
Creating painful problems for me
to contemplate within

A flock of sheep
Shepherds herding
Going over a cliff
hitting the ground, mutually hurting

The ship has burned
down to the sea
Stop the salvage
leave the hulk be

Though it lays rotting
on waves of sand
there's nothing you can do
no helping hand

It's a silly war
a pointless grudge
One sided conflict
both tossing sludge

You don't help your cause
you're simply crazy
When it comes to persuasion
you're awfully lazy

Your Tell-Tale Heart
beats a tattoo
I wish it would stop
simply ending you

That's it, any constructive stuff or advice you have is greatly appreciated :D

Off Topic / The best song I've heard in a while
« on: July 24, 2012, 10:45:36 PM »
I'm not normally a fan of rap, but I found a song from an unsigned guy which is somewhat mind blowing. This man, Hopsin, lyrically exposes the largest stereotypes of stuffty people in our society and brings to attention the fact that, as the human race, we need to improve vastly. The song is here if you want to listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRVOOwFNp5U

Off Topic / I started writing a story
« on: June 23, 2012, 03:11:38 AM »
I started writing this story with a modern post-nuclear war setting and I would like some constructive criticism. This is my first time doing something like this, so I just need some feedback from you guys. Here we go.

Quote
The old school on the edge of town was deathly quiet. The teacher was at the front of the room, near the chalkboard, eyes gazing out at the sea of students. The children were in their chairs, completely silent. There was an eerie stillness about the place. A cold breeze blew in from the open window, which was providing a decent amount of light. This was quite fortunate, as today it appeared the fluorescent lights were not working.

I looked over at one student to find a phone clasped in his hand. I quickly ran over to the teacher. I hoisted her skeleton up and worked her mouth with my hand like a puppet. "Billy, put away that phone this instant!" I mimed in a woman's voice. A nearby explosion rocked the building, and the phone clasped in Billy's skeletal fingers fell on the floor, as did the rest of Billy.
"Damn artillery," I thought. I stood at the front of the class and announced that I was leaving school for the day. In my head, the voices of the students played, and I heard them moaning about how lucky I was to be leaving early. I grabbed my handgun off of the teacher's desk and walked over to the door, kicking it off of its one rusted hinge on my way out.

As I walked down the hallway, I laughed heartily at the misfortune of this school. All of the students with the exception of Billy were still frozen in time as they were six months ago, minus flesh. My shoes clicked on the linoleum tiling of the hallway. Ah, these shoes. There's a different kind of Hell you have to go through to get shoes now that the war's come and gone. But at least getting these shoes, a pair of old Nike sneakers, was easier than getting my last pair. I only had to shoot three people to get these, and there was only a small bit of grey matter on the toe. But the grey matter makes it more personal, knowing it was running the body of a man before his head exploded into a visual symphony of scarlet.

I couldn't resist stopping by the office on my way out. I looked at the gallon jugs of water in the corner and sighed lovingly. Ah, getting those was quite the adventure. But I had business to take care of. I walked into the dean's office to see my good friend Dog. "Eh, you don't look too good today, Dog." I began. "Have you seen yourself recently?" Dog looked up at me, his one good eye frozen in terror. Dog's seat in the dean's chair afforded him a good look at anybody who came in the building. I picked up a jar of alcohol from the desk in front of Dog. I shook the jar, the cloudy yellow dust swirling away to reveal dog's other eye suspended within. "What a waste of precious alcohol this was." I regretfully noted. I took the lid off of the jar and took a long draught, and it made me feel so good. "Let me out of here, you disgusting bastard!" Dog yelled. "Get up and go, you worm." I spat back. Dog looked at me in disgust, before exclaiming "You know very well that you've nailed my feet to the floor and cuffed my hands to this chair. Let me go!" I laughed before saying goodbye to Dog. I threw him a gallon of water from the corner and some rotten beef I found in the remains of a refridgerator in the old teacher's lounge.

I walked out the front door into the bright, beautiful sunlight, only partly obscured today by a cloud of ash.

So, apparently, there's this kid named Max Harris. Today, I was derping about on the internet and I found this monstrosity of lard. This reminds me so much of Rebecca Black, and this kid's serious about his song. He talks about 'getting high', but he's only 12 or 13. Discuss this cancer of the internet

Off Topic / Songs that make you feel emotions
« on: May 19, 2012, 09:53:06 PM »
I was wondering if anybody else on Blockland finds the same emotional attachments to music like I do. What I mean is; Do you feel emotionally attached to certain songs, and how so?

My List of Songs
- Michelle by the Beatles | This song makes me feel sad every time I hear it, because I used to have a friend named Michelle for whom I was learning this song. One day, she and another friend of mine decided to completely screw me over, and this song reminds me of her

- It's a Sin by Eddy Arnold | This song used to have a very strange habit of playing whenever I was talking to another friend of mine, even if my iPod was on shuffle. It reminds me of her and how she was amazing but became a complete richardheaded jack-off

- Such Great Heights by The Postal Service | This reminds me of good times in the summer a long time ago, it also makes me really sad when I hear it because I have never been satisfied with my life except when I was younger, and only then in the summer.

- Hurt by Johnny Cash | This really makes me sad. It reminds me of how I was in the past. I used to be deeply emotionally disturbed, and I would hurt myself because of it. Now I am better, but thinking about who I was a few years ago kills me because I'm almost the exact opposite now.

I know most of my connections are very pessimistic, but that's what makes the deepest emotional impact on me. Discuss, Blockland
