Where's the rebellion so greatly promised?
The right to rebellion is what's promised. If you'd like to kiss the government's ass and be systematically stripped of your rights, be my guest.

Kids get stabbed because killers always have a way to kill.
Drugs being legal doesn't change that people who do drugs will do them.
Here we go, more quotes for you guys

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” -Cesare Beccaria

You sound suspiciously like a paranoid teabagger. Our government happens to be made up of everyday people, and not a furious tyrant on another continent. This doesn't really apply any more.
Again, another quote from the guy who literally penned the concepts of our government, "The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."

You sound like a libertarian, are you one?
Yes, although I don't tell many people.

Rockslide cracks the riddle.
Thank you c:

I've never thought of that before
Yeah, I didn't either before today, but I thought Thomas Jefferson would be a good place to start because I adore his philosophy

Our country was born of the fires of rebellion, and if the spirit of rebellion is not kept alive then our government shall have nothing to fear. Governments are made up of people and should not be an omnipotent power. As Thomas Jefferson once said, "The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first."

What he means in saying those words is that Government is an unnatural but necessary concept, and when left unchecked will turn and commit crimes against man and his liberty without anybody in a position to stop it. The Constitution was meant to chain up the government, to imprison it to prevent this. But when we give the government the means to take away rights of the people, it is like giving a prisoner a file with which to remove his chains. Now left free to itself, the government could commit crimes against liberty and nobody could be in a position to stop them.

I say keep all the rights of the people in place, and never take them away. Government is unnatural, and should be minimal at best, and to keep it that way the people should have means to rebel if necessary.

Violence for entertainment dates back a very long time. A notable example is the gladiators in Rome. Did people walk out of that arena and go murder other people? No.

Riddler shot himself because he was bullied by Russian meanies therefore guns = bad

on topic though, you have to make a conscious decision to go out and straight up murder someone, if you're being an idiot and kill yourself then that's unnatural selection at work, chlorinating the gene pool.

My god, the lack of logic in parts of this thread makes me want to cry. Humans will always be imperfect unless you try becoming an Orwellian society where nothing is ever allowed except work and sleep, and even then inside their heads they will yearn for their humanity.

I just hate most politicians because they take away rights, period. You saw the Republican party come around with the Patriot Act under Bush, we saw Obama resign it now under the Democratic party, and then this whole NDAA mess came along, all for the sake of "improving national security?" I don't want the federal government to have the ability to use the goddamn military to "suppress" "disruptive" citizens. Hell, we barely have the right to express ourselves in public.

I was wearing a hockey jersey to school, a replica of a '72 Russian Olympics jersey. As such, it said "CCCP" across the front. I was called down to the dean's office, told that my shirt was "disruptive" to the staff members and was "spreading communist sentiments." I was given a two day in school suspension for wearing a goddamn hockey jersey.

The other day, I was at a book store trying to buy a copy of Mein Kampf and the woman behind the counter said "those are not for sale." What the hell, there's 15 of them on the goddamn shelf, how are they not for sale?
Society is really forgeted up today.
