I now have everything running, turns out I just forgot to plug this other power cord into the motherboard.

In fact I am posting this on the new comp. :D

It goes to your graphics card. Essentially, your GPU is a pass through for the graphics to be processed and then is outputted to the monitor. You should see a splash image when you start it up.

I tried it through the graphics card originally, however it did nothing. I even tried it with an HDMI cable. If it makes for any vital information, I used a cable of which I forgot what it's called, but it came with the monitor. It has a triangular shape in the middle with two screw things on the sides to secure it.

Alright, I finally got all of my parts today, built my computer, and I turned it on. It happily sprang into life, the fans spinning like mad, the GPU light went on, aaand nothing else happened. My monitor just sat there saying "No input signal", and eventually went to sleep. I wasn't sure whether or not to plug the output cable to the monitor in my motherboard, or my graphics card (Yup. I knew everything except this, so I feel handicapped. :c ). So I'm not sure if my motherboard is going into BIOS and not displaying anything on the screen, or if something is goofed up.

Any suggestions?  :panda:

So, would somebody be as kind as to PM me a key? <3

All of HL2's music.

I really like the displaced, and creepy feel of the songs.

I have owned a Mac for the past two years.

I now am not very fond of Apple because of their major overpricing of their machines, and the amount of annoyances and oversights in their operating system.

BUT

I can definitely see people using a Mac for small portions of gaming, however it is hard to use a Mac to be a full on PC gamer. I'd also especially buy Macs for business reasons, and for media purposes. Macs are just simply not meant for full fledged gaming. They are more for life related things.

For example; my mother would be one who would enjoy using a Mac. The OS isn't hard to learn at all, and it is proficient in standard things like browsing. She'd also use it to occasionally play Minecraft. So Macs fit certain people.

So looks like I will be getting my new computer just after Christmas.

In the mean time, I should probably mention I am starting to get problems with my graphics card.

I have an ATI Radeon HD 4670, and it had been causing me quite a bit of problems. Is it possible for a GPU to degrade after a while? Because I have noticed a performance drop in the last month or so. For example, I just played a little bit of Chivalry, and I had to quit due to excessive framerate drops. A month ago, I had a solid 40-60 FPS range. So what is causing this, and if there is a solution, what is it?

Okay, I swapped the 560 for a 660. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/psCf

Also, is my power supply fine? Not entirely sure if the wattage is below the required or not.

Made quite a bit of tweaks with my list, just wanted to know if there are any final changes I need to make.

The Source engine even to this day is very nice.  Valve still uses it for a reason.

I cannot wait to see what kind of graphical achievements this new engine will cause.

I have always adored the Source engine. It feels fantastic, I love the simplicity and beauty about it. I have always felt other overly polished games with fantastic graphics feel very hacky. It all depends upon the art style, however. Let's take skyrim for example. It has very nice, and simplistic graphics, and it feels fairly moddable. On the other hand, we have games like Battlefield 3, for instance. Its advanced graphics style makes it hard to imagine mods accompanying the game.

What are some really good mods for Minecraft?

I'd recommend Terrafirmacraft. It overhauls the entire game, and makes it a lot more difficult, and realistic.

I like it because of the various new systems, such as metal forgery.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I have edited a few things, so here is my new list.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mvmY

Also, to note, I have a copy of Windows 7 Professional OEM with me, so I don't see buying an operating system is necessary.

Just being safe, I don't want to goof things up in terms of compatibility with programs. It'd probably be a good idea too because I might not like Windows 8 either.

And here is one question to throw out there; why can't I run Battlefield 3 when my system exceeds the system requirements, and comes close to the recommended? Do I need to update my graphics drivers? I get anywhere around 10 - 30 FPS when playing.
