MS Paint? forget no. It's terrible with PNG for some reason. Download Paint.Net and see how well it works. Remember: 75x75 at the biggest or it looses transparency (if it has any) and quality

Oh, and scale your avatar, because when the forum engine detects an avatar bigger then 75x75, it turns into a JPEG with ugly smudge. Scale it, if you want it to be clear/high quality.
