Modification Help / Re: fxDTSBrick::onPlant(%this, %obj) done goofed?
« on: February 27, 2013, 04:19:35 PM »
You're thinking of %obj as the brick, while %this is actually the brick. Use function fxDTSBrick::OnPlant(%this) for your first line and change all instances of %obj to %this

No it's a gag map. However, I think gag maps are still maps and therefore shouldn't be removed

Modification Help / Re: Get Relative Velocity
« on: February 26, 2013, 11:12:34 AM »
Here is code to get the relative velocity vector.

Code: [Select]
function relativeVelocity(%dirVec, %velVec)
{
%pi = 4 * mAtan(1, 1);
//get the magnitude of the horizontal componenet of the velocity
%horMag = VectorLen(getWords(%velVec, 0, 1) SPC 0);

//the angle the velocity is being calculated from
%dirAng = mATan(getWord(%dirVec, 1), getWord(%dirVec, 0));

//the angle of the velocity with respect to the world
%velAng = mATan(getWord(%velVec, 1), getWord(%velVec, 0));

//get the relative angle of the velocity
%relAng = %velAng - %dirAng + %pi/2;

//Get the cartesian (x, y) values from the angle, scale it by the horizontal magnitude of the velocity, add the vertical component
%relVec = VectorAdd(VectorScale(mCos(%relAng) SPC mSin(%relAng) SPC 0, %horMag), "0 0" SPC getWord(%velVec, 2));
}

Edit: Made a small fix to the method.
Yes, this would be the more complicated trig method I had mentioned. If both methods work equally well, I would advise you to use greek's because it takes less computation

General Discussion / Re: Why don't we have movable bricks?

not really

just gotta execute it properly
the way he's asking for, it might as well be

Now you're just stuffting words in my mouth, I never asked for a better engine in this topic, I only asked why the engine couldn't do this because you brought it up first, look in the OP, nowhere did I talk about the game engine and I didn't modify the OP either. I haven't talked/asked about changing the engine for months, most likely since the announcement of V21 (Feb 5 2012) and possibly earlier than that. This when I start getting mad, I NEVER complain about posts you make, just answer my question and leave.

Thanks.
I gave you a very clear answer to your question. Also, I'm only counting topics that I made a mental note to wonder who had posted it. I didn't say you've been doing it recently, just that you've done it a lot

I don't understand though, how was this able to be done in an older version of the game which used an older engine and not on the engine we have now? I remember someone saying that if they made the bricks go from static to dynamic or something it would work could we do that or is that just silly/not good?
Bricks were magnitudes of 10^3 or 4 times more laggy, simply because they were dynamic and therefore more resource intensive. Please, stop with all these topics. Whenever I see a "why can't the engine do this?" or "we need a better engine" post, 80% of the time it's you

no that's fine, all the data is run through the cable to the mobo regardless of order
I mean power lol, was thinking of the other sata cable connector. It's still fine

The engine is optimized to work with static bricks. The way that bricks are dealt with by the engine does not allow for any kind of motion. The best we can get is using a psuedo-brick to simulate motion (fakekill)

Currently impossible, and I expect it will stay that way
