play whoever you're best at
yeah but that's the problem.  I'm better at three characters (the REALLY narrowed selection) than the rest but I don't think I should start out triple-maining or really developing secondaries without actually developing a main, but one of them can excel at a different matchup than another seemingly often.
Luigi, peach, marth

does anybody have difficulty choosing a main?  even after several months I've been juggling about a fourth of the roster (pm), though I have been able to basically narrow the selection down to who I like and who I REALLY like.  what do I do ;-;

that feel when Luigi combo (0-70/80) and tech chase leads into shoryuken

[A programmer] found a pretty serious problem that likely affected many games. Dolphin was actually polling for input at the wrong part of the frame, so, the game would check for if a button was being held, and Dolphin wasn't actually checking for input at that exact moment. This bug also applies to other games; you may notice games like Super Smash Bros. Melee feeling a bit more like console. Any game that relies on very specific or subframe inputs should be noticeably affected; assuming both the user and game are precise enough!
Note: In order to maintain this fix into input recording and netplay, a prior hack (forcing netplay/movie input polling to 120Hz) was removed. This means that on netplay, pad buffer must be calculated differently than before, and in many cases will appear to be higher. This does not mean there is more latency. This hack was originally introduced as way to reduce desyncs, but upon testing both movie recording and netplay still work properly. Obviously, any input movies recorded prior to this build will no longer work on the latest development builds.

"Captain, Falco, Ike, Kirby, Bowser + Jr, Little Mac, Charizard, Lucina, Marth, Dark Pit, Roy, Sheik, ZSS, Toon Link and Zelda have changes."

wow i payed $12 for two mid tier characters
both bayonetta and corrin are going to need more thought out approaches.  like corrin can do some crazy stuff with platforms ('specially techchases and side b applicability) and bayonetta is gonna need more time to develop; both can recover like crazy provided they're able to use a wall:

bayo- sideb, upb, dj upb, wallcling jump, upb
corrin- bair bair bair until wall, sideb, launch up, upb

no, they're not instant sheik just add fair; they're characters that will take time to develop.  we've had cloud for over a month and he's gone from being midtier in the first couple weeks to arguably just outside of top 10.  we'll see.

having said the above, corrin does have several simple combos (dtilt-jab, utilt uair, dtilt fair fair, etc); 18-25ish% each, the tip of his ... spear hand thing?  seems to have a tipper mechanic like marth's that even extends past the visual sweetspot of the move that seems to do like double damage and knockback.  several moves seem to link together well, like nair (depending on the time it hits, but often landing) seems to link into several different options, and the direction you face seems to alter the outcome as well.

also if you do sideb's second press quick enough, you can do the pin in ground while ascending instead of waiting for the hop to go down

if you focused on tech skill without learning neutral, you're gonna have a bad time

I have a question for everyone. when playing, what part of the screen do you focus on? The stage? The opponent? Your character?
depends on how comfortable i am with your character.  if i know precise spacing and am comfortable with fighting the opponent, then I'd watch the space between.  otherwise, I generally watch the opponent while fighting
