There's a certain kind of music I've noticed for a while now appears loving everywhere.  It's all over commercials and web videos and it has two main components:

  • 1.  Ukulele or acoustic guitar strums playing chords.
  • 2.  Tuned percussion instrument (glockenspiel, xylophone, etc.) playing melody.

Together they play a cheery melody, sometimes accompanied by other elements such as simple percussion, whistling, or soft strings.  The result is an incredibly sickeningly sweet style of music I've grown to hate.  I probably wouldn't hate it so much if not for the fact that it is goddamn everywhere.  Sometimes it's mixed in so loud you can't actually hear the important stuff.  If I hear music like this in a video I stop watching.  I will not stand for it.

Linking an example would be a waste of time.  If you read the above description and live on Earth, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

There's no real point to this.  I just had to rant somewhere.

Suggestions & Requests / Multiple environments
« on: November 08, 2015, 12:14:28 PM »
I don't know how possible this would be without overhauling the environment system, but it would be incredibly useful.  Admin(s) could set up multiple environment settings and they could be switched between clientside on the fly with events or something.  It could potentially make large servers much more immersive, with the lighting going dark when you go through a teledoor into a cave or building, or having multiple regions with different weather.

I did a bit of research before posting and found out this was apparently first suggested three years ago by heedicalking.  The idea was almost universally supported, but disappointingly nobody seems to have done anything with it since.  Is there some reason for this?  Is it possible?  Are we as a community just that lazy?  Did Badspot completely miss it?  I really want this to happen.

Creativity / Sugar comics v2

Sugar is a little comic I decided to make of the little adventures of Sugar and I. These are based on real events that either happened on my server or just whenever I run into sugar. I try to bring out the best of Sugar with the my low level expertise of drawing. I'll also introduce some good friends later into the bunch

Trogtor killed the original thread cause he's a butt and hates people being creative and having fun.  Here you can post your own original Sugar comics and derivatives (read: dank memes) without fear of reprisal.

This happened.

Suggestions & Requests / Non-lethal weapons?
« on: October 05, 2015, 03:24:43 AM »
I have a potential gamemode idea, but in order to develop it I first need to gather as many non-damaging weapon add-ons as possible.  Stuff that can be used to push other players around or incapacitate them, but not directly kill.  The push broom is a great example, but I need as many weapons like this as I can get.  Anyone know of any?

Suggestions & Requests / Badspot's Halloween sounds
« on: October 02, 2015, 08:58:13 PM »
Is there a way I can get the custom "spooky" sound effects Badspot uses on his server (screams, theremin, etc.)?  Preferably in the form of the original wav files.

Add-Ons / FiveTone Colorset
« on: August 25, 2015, 09:43:55 PM »
This is my current custom colorset.  It features five shades each of eight different hues, plus some transparents, some grays, and a custom set of earthy browns.  I've been hosting it on my Ultimate Pirate forgetaround server for a while, and figured it would be in order to release it.

9 music loops from the obscure SNES game Tin Star.  It's great western music, and incredibly quality for 16-bit. Includes all of the game's looping music, plus one unused track that never actually plays in-game, but is so good I couldn't leave it out.

Off Topic / R.I.P. Stiny

R.I.P. Einstein (2006-2015)

Last night, our beloved cat Einstein passed away quietly in my mother's arms.  He had been suffering from a bladder infection for some time, one which may have been curable if we had caught it sooner.  Alas, he has breathed his last.  Stiny, as we called him, was a very sweet kitty who loved to eat tuna, destroy flowers, and lick the adhesive from the outside edges of rolls of packing tape.  He is survived by his brother Newton, his lifelong sparring partner and frequent accomplice.  He will be missed.
