It's a shame that they're that expensive. I might have to pick up another monitor with a display port then.

I'm waiting until tomorrow to order the parts. Hopefully Newegg will have some kind of Easter sale. Any last minute thoughts?

Haven't tried it yet. I'm reusing the SSD in this build for it. So I'll have to format it then install. Since it's free and ghetto I assume that it's the OEM version so I don' want to waste my one install.

It's not pir****d.

My uncle sent it to me. He said that he had some kind of subscription to Microsoft and could send me any product that comes out...

I'm running Ubuntu right now.

I have a ghetto copy of Windows 7 on a re-writeable disc with the key scrolled on a sticky note.

There are legends of people doing it. But with the 4650 I don't think that it would be possible.

He originally selected the 965 which is a complete waste of money.

Seeing as it just clocked slightly higher for another $15 or so.

Ahh...

Knowing that I would have to buy an adapter. Both of my (larger) monitors are being run through DVI although they have HDMI ports available. I've had them for a year or so now so they don't have female sockets for the DP in them.

If you're playing a game that requires heavy physx simulation. Crysis would be a good example.

I run dual monitors on my ATI Radeon HD 3450.

Also quick question- do you have to have identical cards to SLI?

Double post.

Sort of. Besides Sli you can run Physx with Nvidia cards. It's usually done using a higher end card (e.g. GTX 285) and a lesser card (e.g. 9800).

Yeah I saw that. I have a 15 inch laying around, I'm using two 22's right now.

I was a little iffy on ATI's display port thing. It looks odd to me. I'd be glad to try it out though.

And as for that Birthday money stuff. fu

I've always ran a dual monitor display on the 9800.

I had considered running 5770's in crossfire but I was afraid that I would lose performance because the bandwith on my PCI slots would bifurcate down to x8.

How's that 5870 by the way? I was considering one until I saw the $600 price tag.

I have some of those.

I got them from my crackpot 10 year old cousin in Saginaw MI.

True story btw

The i7 920 is too expensive for his budget. As the motherboards are more expensive etc.

The budget was set at $800 when I put together the parts list for him. Although I like the idea of an intel processor (That's what I've always used) you can't beat the price of that processor.

The i7 920 is also closer to $290.
