?

As far as I am concerned, right XP is about as much as W7. I also managed to drop the price here down to about $700 while still making it better...

20+4 pin means that it is compatible with older motherboards or different ones. They are the same as 24 pin.

Just about all cases are the same - all mid towers will hold ATX, Micro-ATX, and sometimes E-ATX.

Do you need an OS?

:(

This topic is sorta dying so I'll PM you the list.

It's ironic that you're going through the same dilema is me. I just got W7 in the mail today and I hope to get the rest of my computer in the next week.

It's alright, lemme see if I can do a little better. Are you recycling the HDD and ODD or anything like that?

I'm still a ways off from the mobo and processor, but I'm leaning towards this mobo:

What's your budget?

I was exaggerating on how much that PSU sucked, but still.

What motherboard are you choosing. There shouldn't be any problems with compatibility. And get the Phenom II X4 955, not the 965.

The 700w was a future proofing thing. It will be nice if he intends to overclock (depending on the board, I may or may not suggest this) it will also support enthusiast cards and should last quite a while.

Your rebate theory is a little shaky in my heart. :p

This is the best I can do in a performance to cost ratio.
With the rebates this will run about $105.

I am aware that the case looks like a pile of dog-stuff buy you'll get used to it. It also has enough room for 5970 which is the biggest card on the market right now.

Why don't you compare the specs. of the power supplies and tell me what's wrong with it.

I also wouldn't get that Antec 300 case.

It doesn't usually come with the case. They are 2 seperate products, bundled by newegg you see. Totally different then power supplies that always come with cases.

Nevertheless, that power supply is stuff. Did you bother checking the specs?

This OCZ is substantially better and (with rebate) cheaper.

I never said that it was better. The 5770 was supposed to be a futere-proof option considering that Direct-X 11 titles are just taking off.

What are you smoking? The power supplies that come with cases are always stuff.

You are also not taking into account the many, many other PSU manufacturers that are much better than Corsair and Antec.

It's actually slightly lower then the 4870 and gtx 260.

But it will have direct x 11.

Yes. That chart also doesn't seem very accurate...
