Because shapes != bricks
fxDTSBrickData is the brick datablock. The brick transparency has been messing up since the shaders.

Suggestion, if it's good enough , sell it.
It's far from perfect. The wall thickness varies all over the place and I won't make an exterior. Besides who sells empty interiors. Oh and it's based on a real floorplan that costs thousands of dollars. I don't think I'm even allowed to sell it.

Good point. Perhaps there is a way to ignore rendering brick shadows. The game should only render shadows for players, vehicles, and other shapes but not bricks.

It won't stop pirates. Assassins creed 2 needed a connection to the ubisoft server, So they made a server emulator.
Except EA servers are doing calculations not just making sure your game is legit. Theoretically you could make a pirate server where the game connects to but then you'd need to hack into EA servers and clone them to get the code to simulate the cities and whatnot.

I don't have a problem with the online requirement, since I'm always online on my PC and if it really bothers me I can use a crack
SimCity is a too good game for me to give it up because of an online requirement
Even if you crack it, simulating the city requires a connection to EA servers.

It's not just a DRM. In one of the videos a developer says that a large part of the city simulation is done on EA servers and the data is then sent to your computer. You must have internet connection to play the game. This kind of killed the game for me.

I don't see a reason why this wouldn't work. The shadows are already rendered as an image that is then applied to the 3D world. You would simply need to prevent the game from rendering shadows again and then distributing the hosts shadow map. You could get fancy and tun your view distance down so only your build is visible and bake the shadows at maximum quality.

This of course doesn't solve the problem with the minimum/off shader. Some people can't even run the shaders on minimum and turning the shaders off makes everything a lot brighter and the glowing brick textures help you navigate in the dark.
