I'm afraid you're wrong and you should feel bad for being so wrong even though she literally gave out more 5 than URLs to websites proving that they are, in fact, equal to each other.

The way she put it to me was this:
What number exists between 0.(9) and 1?
WHAT WHOLE NUMBER EXISTS BETWEEN ONE AND TWO
NOTHING THEY MUST BE EQUAL TO EACH OTHER
HAHAHAHAHAHA

If you're not ignoring what I say you're trying to say that I didn't PROOOOVE ANYTHING

DO YOU EXPECT MY ARGUMENT TO PASS INTO MATHEMATICAL LAW BEFORE WE DISCUSS IT INTELLIGENTLY IN THE loving BLOCKLAND FORUMS

WELL WHAT'S THE loving POINT OF CALLING IT A POLYGON

...

Can I change my vote to "HOW TO MATHS?".. I don't get people that enjoy talking about mathematics in their free time.

Yeah, that's why.

Not because you just got railed by 3 different people for being a moron. まほ~

you have proved nothing by saying this.

On another note,
If you're not going to listen to anybody that hasn't "proven" anything when you're talking about mathematics, why don't you just make a big loving "I'M RIGHT AND SHUT UP" sign and lock the thread before the first post?

A circle's a circle and I don't give a forget. Enjoy your infini-gon.

0.9 repeating is not a whole number. 1 is a whole number.

0.9 is a 0 with a decimal followed by an infinite amount of 9's following it. this is not 1.

keyword: denotes

it will never be exactly 1

key phrase: a real number that can be shown to be the number one

Are you aware of what I have stated and do you have any thoughts about it? Would you be willing to share those thoughts?

And if you're going to treat it like a perfect curve with infinite "sides", what's the point in ever referring to it as a polygon?

Not to sound condescending but why hasn't Gamefandan responded to a single thing I've said?

but clearly that's wrong because what if you had a 360decagon or something
THEN THAT WOULDN'T BE CONSIDERED A CIRCLE NOW WOULD IT

Anyway, back to my half-assed thoughts on the subject, the formula for finding the area is similar because they're both shapes, but by definition, a polygon has a set number of straight sides, while a circle is theoretically a perfect curve, which is why you actually find the area with a different formula than you do with a polygon.

And if you're going to treat it like a perfect curve with infinite "sides", what's the point in ever referring to it as a polygon?

I like how rather than taking facts from the OP, people are merely blasting their opinions without any stuff to back them up. I'm currently the only one with mathematical evidence.
We are not scholars in mathematics. You're asking the Blockland forums here. Nobody's going to do a whole lot of research to win a debate in the off-topic section.

Then explain the above. まほ~
It's like troll physics. If you can't understand how it's wrong on a basic level, you shouldn't be discussing it to begin with.

You find the area of a shape in about the same way, but by definition, a circle is not a polygon. The equation is similar to how the area is found, but that does not classify it as being a polygon. You can't count the number of sides a perfect circle has.

yes and theoretical things never help anything
Geometry itself is theoretical.

Are we done?

But 8.999... = 9 silly. ムホ~
Then screw that why didn't you just say that 0.99999... was 1 to begin with? It doesn't work that way.

If x = 0.999... (repeating), then 10x does equal 9.999... (repeating) if you never round it; hence the repeating part.
Then 9x would also be 8.999..., not turn into a 9.
