That engine is a bit too large for a vessel of that type. The submarine with a engine of that size would be twice as big.  Also, modern nuclear submarines have a nuclear reactor and steam turbines; even those are smaller than your monster engine.  I like how you're going about the hull, and I hope this helps you make it as real as possible.

The design of the hull isn't teardrop shaped, so I highly doubt he's making a nuclear boat.

Diesel generators and batteries would be in the aft portion of the boat, and would have enough room for people to fit between them.
