I tried the Clappy thing, and it's great.

My only problem is, the sentries are ridiculously overpowered and should either have:

a. A change of playertype (there's a 1-hit-kill playertype out there)
b. A change of weapon (3 hits and you're out... the sword is a fast weapon... there's two of them... and it's close quarters.)

I agree. That's why I made it so every time you slice a sentry, you get something like 60 health back, plus they fling in the air. Also, if they touch you, you get 10 health.

As long as you keep whacking them, you'll be fine. You only need to fight them for about 4 seconds before they get gobbled up anyway.

Eh, I've gotten used to decrements :P Plus I think that method uses less events, depending how it's used. I could experiment though.


By not necessary, do you mean that it's way too many events and there's no way you'll add this, or that 300 events is suitable anyway?

All I know is that at 300, it worked fine. No overflow messages. In fact, the new way I have it die (spawn tons of player soot) is more laggy (albeit in the required event range) than the way it died before :P

Regardless, I'm changing the way it dies. When I'm done with this, it shouldn't cause noticeable lag.

1.Because I already have a lot of events for my other bosses, I'm not sure how much lag would be created because of Clappy "moving". It may be fine though.

EDIT:5. also, I think you should make it so you can see Clappy die.(you teleport pretty fast)
I'll try to use less events. Unfortunately, the reason you don't see him die is because there are too many events. So, can't have a boss and kill it too unfortunately.



4.Arent I suppost to die when I touch the lava?

2.The "run away!" attack should give more warning to allow the player to run away. I've also found that it sometimes keeps sucking you in after he moves back to the normal position.
That should only happen if you die, and then immediately go back in to the area. This is because it auto-resets his position when a player walks in. If you wait ~ 12 seconds (which a player will need to spend at least that getting to the area), it shouldn't happen.

I will make the 'run away' pop up sooner though.

3.Some sort of events keep me from going in the "bot spawn" area(I suspect setRadiusImpulse), but I've found that I sometimes get pushed in that area, and I can't get out. I suggest using zone events instead.

This would allow the player to exit if he somehow got in. Instead of being stuck. I'd also suggest having this on the bot spawn.

Edit: I duno what you should make for the final boss... Maybe you should make one of those bosses that take out pieces of the floor over time or something.

Edit 2: Just remembered. When I was making this, I had the event quota at 300. I only got overflows with my original 'dying animation' for Clappy. I may be able to refine this some more, but a 300 quota should play nice with the other boss battles.

Ok Reinforcements, here's my boss so far. I might add a perilous path to get to the boss later.

Name: 'Clappy'

Description: A gray lava monster that squishes, roast, and eats you. He lost his right tooth in a game of chess.

Attacks:
Clap: Flings and squishes you, thus the name. Jump and you'll live.

Lava: Spits a stream of lava on the platform (below). Stand clear!

Gobble: First sends out some sentries to weaken you down and distract you, then tries to suck you (and his sentries) up.
EDIT: Killing sentries give you health. If you keep whacking them, you won't die.

Your weapons:
Sword (for sentries) and a bow.

How to kill?
Shoot Clappy whenever his mouth is open. 10 shots and he's down.




This uses 'tons' of events, just warning you.
