Modification Help / Mazimum Add-On File size
« on: November 02, 2015, 02:55:14 AM »
I recall hitting one once.  No it had nothing to do with datablocks.  I can't remember what it was.  Does anyone know?

I seem to recall 42 odd MB, but this is just an approximation on an old memory.

Title.  Everything gets sorted onto one page.  It's annoying going through 15 pages.

I listened to/watched the debate a few hours ago and just came back to see if there was any open discussion about it yet.  To my disappointment, there wasn't, so I made a thread here so that we could discuss it.

There seemed to be a few arguments on which all or most of the candidates agreed, although there were clear policy and opinion splits between each of the candidates.

The debate was streamed LIVE at CNN.com

In the list to the right of the media at the center, it gives information about debate highlights, fact checks, etc.

For those of you who were paying attention to the debate, what were your impressions, thoughts, questions and concerns?

PLEASE be respectful to other members.  Disagreement is a healthy and normal part of discussion.  Flaming does not have to be.

If you're looking for a post, for instance to provide proper quotes for a drama or just in general, do you think there should be some kind of informal reference system?  For instance, there's the use of the hashtag on popular social media sites, which when searched, the site makes all things under that hashtag appear in your feed.  I personally think that it would be easier to find posts or topics using these.

For example, if I wrote &ID_discrimination on this post, and users searched "&ID_discrimination", they might be able to find posts containing arguments relevant to ID discrimination.  Since the current forum search feature dumps a lot of unwanted results on you unless you know specifically who said something very specific, this could be useful at narrowing this search.

And no, I am not mandating any kind of conformity.  I want to know what you guys think.

Suggestions & Requests / [Forum Feature] Filter "Who's Online List"

Title & to filter out Guests and Users, so that you can only see users or only see guests.

Basically a powerful bomb that can devastate a space about 60% the size of the default cottage build that is launched from a launcher in a straight line, which then tunnels into subspace and is either completely invisible or has some difficult to see emitter appearing from the point where the bomb is hidden.  It then explodes at the player's direction or if it destabilizes.  Here's how it works.

QDCL = Quantum Depth Charge Launcher (The gun)
QDC =Quantum Depth Charge (The bomb)

  • Equip QDCL.  QDCL charges for about 3 seconds, then allows you to act.  You have 1 ammo.  Once the QDC goes off, this replenishes.
  • Hold down the mouse button.  A bar at the bottom indicates the launch speed with the | | | | | | characters.  When you release, it launches the QDC, which should probably be spherical and all advanced-looking with glowy bits.  It should travel in a straight line, emit a trail, and glow a little bit.
  • If the QDC hits something, the object takes damage as if getting hit as with a purely kinetic projectile, damage perhaps proportional to the speed of the QDC.  If the player right-clicks, it explodes with 25% of the full blast.  If the player left clicks, the QDC stops, plays some spinning or compressing animation, has this relatively loud sound and a flash, followed by a shower of sparks, and then is hidden.
  • If the player has the QDCL out, it will hide and stabilize the QDC.  If the player puts the QDCL, the point at which the QDC was hidden begins to destabilize.  The QDC will only last 15 seconds during this time, and as it destabilizes, it will become easier and easier to spot as sparks and light starts emitting from the hole.  If the player takes their QDCL out, it will re-stabilize it.  If it becomes fully destabilized, however, it will explode.  If the player right clicks with the QDCL out, the QDC will emit sparks and light from the location to show the player where it is in a controlled destabilization.  If the player left clicks, it will explode with full power.

Imo would be hella fun to use to make traps.

Maybe even have a version where it launches a few negative impulses prior to exploding so it pulls a bunch of stuff in before it explodes.

Also perhaps some visible dials or gages on the weapon to indicate things.

I've seen pictures creatively going off the side of it, and I wonder what the width of the display is.  Also would different resolutions affect this and break the width?

Forum Games / Vice
« on: May 03, 2015, 02:50:00 AM »
Vice is a dark mystery-type text adventure set in an ancient/classical pseudo-middle east.

Recap:

Chapter 1:

Your assumed identity is Tommy Vercetti.  You do not really know much else, except that you are plagued with horrific visions of some past; whether or not it was yours is uncertain.  For some reason unknown to you, at first, everyone treated you with disdain, calling you an untouchable, until a man who beat you kicked you onto your back where your face became exposed, revealing something that made the people suddenly fear you, or rather, what you apparently are.  You black out shortly after this incident, and wake up in a cold, stony prison cell with your forehead, eyes, and hands covered.

You have a flashback while in this prison where some man apparently told you that you have a purpose beyond "The Gate," but you have no idea what it means.  In fear of this dark memory, you cry out asking for help.  You alert the guards on accident and they discover that you're awake and promptly send for the Captain.  You make acquaintance with a fellow prisoner, known only as Number 34, who rests alone in the cell opposite you.  The captain then comes with two other guards, who clean you up and take you to a room called Chamber No. 4.

Inventory:

Clothes
(1) white tunic
(1) white robe
(1) pair of fairly-worn sandals

Condition:
Severe Headache
Trauma
Very Hungry
Dehydrated

Location:

"Chamber No. 4" in some prison in some desert town.

Date and Time:

??/??/???? — ???

You suddenly are assaulted with a wave of flashbacks.  You remember being in a dark chamber with torches all around.  At the end, there was an altar with something on it with blood spilling off of it.  You remember a man standing in white robes standing at it, with his back to you.  You remember the chanting of monks in black robes.  You remember a giant eye that appeared to come from shadows above the altar.  You remember blood on your hands.  You remember a feeling of anguish.

You wake up with a start, breathing heavily and in a cold sweat.

You are sitting in an alleyway propped between a crate and the stone wall of some building.  It's hot out right now, and you seem to be in a desert town.  You look down at your hands.  There's not a trace of blood on them, although you can't shake the feeling for some reason.  You're wearing a white tunic and robe and sandals.  Your head hurts a lot, and you can't remember anything.

What's your name?

Suggestions & Requests / [Forums Mod] Up/Downvote
« on: April 24, 2015, 03:03:29 PM »
I know people have made chat functionality, but I want to see a like/dislike thing for comments.  Not a forum feature, just something for users who have it can use.

Additionally, votes will be anonymous.

Input?

Suggestions & Requests / Quick-Ban
« on: April 10, 2015, 05:32:18 PM »
Basically this:

Have some prefs:

Admin LevelDropdownAdmin, Super Admin, HostWho can use it.
Ban TimeNumerical Text Field (Minutes), and a check box for permaban. How long the ban lasts.
Ban ReasonText FieldThe automatic reason that applies when someone is quick-banned.

And it is sensitive to a keybind with raycast.

So essentially, if there's someone being annoying, all you need to do is turn towards them or look at them, and press a button and then you don't have to deal with them.

Essentially it's annoying to have to open a window, type in a chat command, or pull out a banhammer and wait until they're in range, and I would like there to be a quick hassle-free way of doing this.

87
Basically everything that you'd see in spreadsheets, except all it allows you to do is edit information in the OP of a topic and topic title if you have it authored.  Or the ability to perhaps draw information from a spreadsheet in a stored location.

And if there's no safe way to do this, can a script be generated externally and have information created as in image similar to what occurs on the server status tiles?

The rules are pretty traditional.  None of that extra stuff.

  • Don't powergame or godmode.  If something is possible, then it can happen, but don't bend possibility too much.
  • Metagaming is allowed only for RP purposes.  If a player sends you a PM acting as a letter from a spy or delegate that contacts your government, then the government has knowledge of this, and can use it.  This being said, I am not barring RP'd espionage.
  • Do not act as moderator unless you are not one.  Moderators have the final say.
  • However, because moderators cannot be here 24/7, if a rule is violated, players are allowed to call each other out.  If the majority decides that the rules have been broken, then this acts as a temporary solution until a moderator comes.  No disciplinary issue can be dealt unless it is in-RP.
  • Please don't start as the all-powerful or all-influential empire at the beginning of the game.  You can start with as many as 10 million people upon founding your country.
  • Your military cannot exceed 13% of your population even during conscription.  If it does, there will be repercussions within your nation.  (Added 04/01/2015.)
  • Posted an official guide concerning land settlement and the World Axes.  (Added 04/04/2015.)
  • Do not share your PIC.  (Added 04/05/2015.)
  • Effective as this rule is established, players cannot donate their nation to another nation without some sort of limitation of power in order to limit a third-party powergaming exploit.  (Added 04/06/2015.)
  • Effective as this rule is established, players who resign, if they want to return to influence must do so after ten years but before twenty years.  If you are returning under the condition that people of your nation's nationality are reasonably discontent, you may do so, but only through permission of a moderator.  (Added 05/02/2015.)

Suggestions & Requests / In-game plugin for exporting events
« on: March 10, 2015, 07:46:41 PM »
Allows you to select a range of events on the brick, and then exports them to your clipboard, also giving BBC table tags to it so that it would be easy to read, and easily post on the forums.
