it's a special turd
because despite the limitations you can still make good looking stuff, it'll look dated of course, we are talking about torque after all, but you very much can still get good use out of terrains and interiors if you know what you're doing
Oh I definitely know. Again… Blockland was an extremely formative game and I kinda wish there was an hours tracker built in so I could see for myself how much time I put into it. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it was in the mid 5 digits and best $20 ever spent. It's at this point though where novelty is just not going to be adequate. Certain parts of it put it ahead of the curve in the past, but now its competitors are racing ahead.

I really dunno. Has that single core thing ever been addressed? Why are textures limited to 256px2? There's a lot of quality and performance bottlenecks that are just hard-coded into the platform. Saying this as someone who has extremely fond memories of creations in Blockland, on map terrain, of map terrain, and without map terrain, in regards to its capabilities as a game: Why bother polishing a turd?

Haven't really had a computer which could run it to be honest. Might be able to run it now but I had one of those old alpha keys. No idea if it still works.

Are these feature announcements (not the general roadmap wishlists) actually grounded in use? As someone in BL who genuinely enjoyed creating interactive/behaviors stuff, I really can't say I'm interested unless many instances of the interactables can happen without much performance drop. That and vehicles.

I basically just want a Blockland that runs in current decade.

I've been thinking alot about the people from forum games section
Swat one, Juncoph, Agent Legit 22 and some other ones, I wonder if there is any way to keep in contact with anyone from the forums when the forums shut down
Roll call: The goofy dude who says present. PMs open even if I don't read often.

Juncoph appears to have fallen off, at least for me.

AL22 I haven't seen in… Gee, 3 years now?

Treebeard quote of "Many of these [folks] were my friends…" seems to fit just about right. Still have Thorfin25 added on my Steam friends list and I refuse to unfriend. He will remain there forever.

Nudge some boxes using the office chair to get a hint as to what's inside.

not learning how to script
This but moreso just not digging into scripting to learn it inside and out.

Barely here anymore. I stop by maybe once every couple months for less than 10 minutes.

You receive a heptagon.

I insert a hexagon.

General Discussion / Re: things you regret doing on blockland

Maybe like 8 years ago I was asking these kids some questions because I was curious what they were doing or something. It was just the two of them and me. And they just straight blew me off. Didn't even so much as turn their blocko character to look at me when I landed nearby or was even in the area. They weren't even RP'ing or anything. So I got petty and salty. And me being the little stuff I was, I relay-spam-spawned frag grenades, the ones that spawn all those little projectiles to do damage. And so they all compounded and crashed the server.

General Discussion / Re: Why did you keep playing Blockland?
« on: April 03, 2021, 12:01:10 AM »
Been here since ‘09. I kept playing because I liked to make immersive RPG-like systems using VCE (never could find out how to mod properly for my needs) and got to the point where I was making special SFX for them just to take them to the next level. And goofing around with friends to make bots do silly things. Even as my windows computer crashed and all I had was my macbook, I still played after shaders were no longer supported on my device. When I updated to whichever update made 32-bit applications obsolete, that was basically the last time I played Blockland. I miss being able to play it, and probably could if I ran it on my wife's computer, but I'd both never hear the end of it and would still not have enough time to sink into projects like I used to be able to do. Maybe someday I'll have another chance with another computer, but I'm holding out until I can buy something that can run more than Blockland. Was a load of fun while it lasted, though.

My condolences
The older I get the more accurate this feels.

Would be pretty cool, but would be pretty hard to do in BL's iteration of TGE, unfortunately.

Conc is pretty weak imo. I get the idea of balancing, but if the max damage is only 88, then is it really a grenade?
