You guys need to to realize what a huge impact a few words can have.
Lets say your post was the one that pushed him over the edge, the last of his sad and miserable life he could take.
Now his parents find him dead in his room, and they dont know what to think, they think theres something they could have done, something they did wrong that made their own son take his life. They spend the rest of their lives hating themselves, thinking they murdered their own son
His friends at school wonder what they should have done, if they could have been better friends, maybe if they had just done one thing, he'd still be there.
And all the kids who are mean to him finally realize what a horrid thing they had done, but its too late, and they just caused a kid to kill himself. They also never forget that, every day they think of the kid that they killed, they made him cry so many times and eventually take his own life.
Now you see, its not one person, everyone around him , who cared and even some who didnt care, they all can never look at life the same way again, all because of some kid who couldnt be bothered to support a sad kid on the internet.
I honestly hope you guys realize how cruel you're being, and I hope you wont behave this way towards someone ever again.
Ok thats wonderful and all, and I respect your decision because its the mature thing to do, but honestly it wouldn't make much of a difference if he actually decided to kill himself. You are acting right now, but you certainly didn't back then.
The fact that anyone, ANYONE at all, would actually encourage someone to do something like that is extremely sad and just shows how shut out you are from the rest of the world. Maybe you feel it makes you look cool or something over the internet or something, but its honestly loving stupid and you shouldn't do it. Since when is anyone killing themselves funny? Since when is that a thing to rejoice over? Why in the forget would YOU feel good about abusing a mentally ill 13 year old so much, that he actually kills himself? I know people act differently over the internet and all that crap, but this is a whole nother level.
Regarding him himself, I really hope he doesn't actually do it. In all honestly, I doubt he could. He is probably sheltered by loving parents and hopefully doesn't know how one would go about doing it. At the worst, he will probably injure himself badly. Best case is that he freaks out and maye takes the problem to a parent.
I agree with these statements 100%.
I think we could all agree (or at least most of us) that we'd feel pretty bad if he actually did commit Self Delete. We are the community, and the community angered him with stuffposts and flaming, thus driving himself towards this decision. But of course, his supposed Self Delete is not entirely our fault (if at all, in some people's opinions). He had a choice, whether to simply leave or to kill himself. Despite whether or not he considered both decisions, he could have simply said, "forget u im leaving" and it would have ended just as that. Someone who is considered annoying by most left the forums. Who cares.
It was the fact that he claimed to be committing Self Delete that triggered something in all/most of us. Some people, although definitely not from the beginning of the thread, probably started thinking,
Holy stuff, did we just drive this kid towards Self Delete?, and thus feel more guilty, and feel more empathy towards him than they did before. They will feel like they, and the rest of the community involved, have caused it, and they believe they have to try to fix it, wish that they had said something before.
But of course, as I said before, had he just left a simple goodbye post, no one would care. He would have left, and although a bit of discussion might arise, it won't be as bad nor last as long as this has. However, this is of course a different situation, obviously causing different reactions and beliefs than the latter solution.
Not to mention the fact that docter most likely did not kill himself, but rather just wanted attention as he left the forums, as Electrk and various others have stated before.
