Off Topic / Need application solution for android phone.
« on: May 27, 2011, 11:03:03 PM »
Is there an application for Android powered phones that allows you to view a window on your computer while doing other things? Not VNC, more of a virtual monitor.

I want to have an interactive mapping program for minecraft open, and minecraft at the same time, but I don't like how the thing looks when its shrunk down so I can see it and minecraft.
My solution - View the mapper on my phone.

There is no direct application, so I need another solution.
Anyone?

tl;dr
I need to see an application on my phone without having it on my main monitor.

Did I get your attention with the 'real dough' part?
Bitcoin is a P2P program that basically is a virtual currency.
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page

Quote
Bitcoin is a digital currency created in 2009 by Satoshi Nakamoto. It is also the name of the open source software designed in order to use this currency.

Bitcoin is one of the first implementations of a concept called cryptocurrency, which was first described in 1998 by Wei Dai on the cypherpunks mailing list. Building upon the notion that money is any object, or any sort of record, accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a given country or socio-economic context, Bitcoin is designed around the idea of using cryptography to control the creation and transfer of money, rather than relying on central authorities.

There are services to turn the Bitcoins into real money, either by wire, mail, PayPal
Take your pick.

FAQ

Q. What is Bitcoin?

A. Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer currency. Peer-to-peer means that no central authority issues new money or tracks transactions. These tasks are managed collectively by the network.

Q. How does Bitcoin work?

A. Bitcoin utilises public-key cryptography. A coin contains the owner's public key. When a coin is transferred from user A to user B, A adds B’s public key to the coin, and the coin is signed using A's private key. B now owns the coin and can transfer it further. A is prevented from transferring the already spent coin to other users because a public list of all previous transactions is collectively maintained by the network. Before each transaction the coin’s validity will be checked.

No, this is not illegal.

Go on, go!

Games / Ace of Spades
« on: May 10, 2011, 12:45:43 AM »
Ace of Spades is a 2011 multiplayer first person shooter combined with sandbox elements by Ben Aksoy. Choose between a Blue and Green Team and battle it out in rivers and on mountains in a cuboid world where you can create shelters, tunnels, and bases with the ultimate goal of eliminating the enemies and capturing their intel.

That totally wasn't taken straight from the wiki.

Anyway, more information later

Off Topic / Need help remembering a TV Show
« on: May 07, 2011, 08:08:24 PM »
I can't remember its name for the life of me.

It's an animated TV show set in (I believe) a place called Perum
The characters have these PDA-like (Face-to-face chat, camera, teleporter (Called "Porting")) scanners that they use to scan monsters which then become cards. They then went back to the main area where they battled each other using their scanners. They went into this grey room, with two pedistal-like computer things, and a ball hovering in between them with three rings spinning around it in all directions.
The set their scanners in the pedistal and a interactive hologram that lets them choose their team shows up. Randomly, a person is chosen to go first. The person who wins the coin toss (if you will,) says "I challenge X with my Y". They then become the characters challenged. Again, randomly, a map is chosen, and they fight as said characters.

The main character has black hair, and wears a blue shirt. His favorite monster to play as is a green thing, which looks somewhat like him.
His sidekick is a nerdy guy with glasses, and red hair. Yellow shirt (?) His favorite monster is a tall red, strong, blue-horned monster. The red monster and the green monster are leaders of enemy tribes.
His other sidekick is a overweight guy who (obviously?) loves food.
The female character I can't remember much about. Blue eyes(?)

If I recall correctly, all of the monsters were divided into over-worlders, and under-worlders.

In a later season, they travel back in time and meet younger versions of their favorite monsters, and various other extinct monsters.

Thats all I remember. Anyone?

Aside from the fact that merely emulating it is illegal, wouldn't this basically be like dragging a DS or GBA down to some place then showing it off, but not letting the people gathering play it?

I realize it goes back to "emulation of anything other than abandonware is illegal", but like I already said, aside from that?

I'm not kidding. I received a email earlier from Facebook claiming the BlerBler HerHer wanted to add me as a friend. I have no Facebook, therefore it was an invite. I've narrowed down the places that Mr HerHer could have came from to here.
So, has anyone heard of him?

Games / BYOND - Murder Mansion
« on: April 10, 2011, 05:12:25 PM »

Its basically real time Clue/Cluedo.
Players grab weapons, forget with the electrical systems, kill other players (Only if you're the randomly selected murderer), and report people on a conveniently placed phone, once their sure they know who dun it!
You can examine fibers, hair strands, loads of stuff.
It has (I believe) 5 different maps to choose from.

So, since I can not host, who's gonna?
I strongly suggest you have a BYOND key.
A BYOND key is basically a membership, but its free. There is a paid version, but who needs it.
BYOND
