Off Topic / Re: I'll Give You 5 Copies Of Dota 2 For Ace Of Spades
« on: December 21, 2012, 06:16:56 PM »
Ace of Spades is laggy, currently made by a horrible company, and requires an extremely strong computer.

try build and shoot. It's the version you know and love, it's free, runs flawlessly, and doesn't support a stuffty company.

(I have no idea what the forget is going on up here)

So I took my old topic and am remaking it because I added the transparent text thing. (http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=207737.0)
[trans]Here's a demo. Try installing the userscript and refreshing this page![/trans]

Code: [Select]
// ==UserScript==
// @name       Anti-Trans and auto-shrink
// @description  makes transparent stuff visible, and makes images not be bigger than your browser.
// @version      1.2
// @match      http://forum.blockland.us/index.php*
// ==/UserScript==
var spans = document.getElementsByTagName('span');
var sl = spans.length;

for(var i = 0; i < sl; i++) {
    if(spans[i].style.color == "transparent") {
        spans[i].style.color = "red";
        spans[i].innerHTML = "[transparent]" + spans[i].innerHTML + "[/transparent]";
    }
}
var imgs = document.getElementsByTagName('img');
var img;

for (var i = 0; i < imgs.length; i++) { imgs[i].style.maxWidth = '100%'; }

Running Userscripts is easy, but you may require some setup to be able to install them:

Google Chrome allows native runtime of Userscripts; just click and go! You can remove Userscripts via the 'Extensions' tab. - chrome removed this super-easy-install for security reasons or something. click the link and a little bar will pop up with info on how to install them (straight from google) I recommend tampermonkey extension.

Mozilla Firefox requires the Greasemonkey plugin before using this script.

Apple Safari's version 5 allows the installation of the NinjaKit extension (Click 'NinjaKit for Safari').

Opera is also native, but requires some setup. See 'Adding User JavaScripts' for more details, then download the script to the directory you specify.

Microsoft Internet Explorer is unfortunately left out of the party. With no native support for userscripts, and no development on addons for years (and only for earlier versions) means no automatic Leaderboards for now. :([/code]

Microsoft Surface. Do eet.
Why?

Legitimate question, why do you think he should purchase that tablet?

I'm thinking about the Nexus still, I LOVE the iPad and all, But I also love Androids customization OS.
OH don't get me wrong, the nexus is the superior tablet of the two.

pretty much all iPad has is more tablet-optimized applications, but now that there's a nexus 10 and the nexus 7 did so well, the android tablet app ecosystem is bound to only get larger.

yeah, if you have the chance to try them both you should.

i would reccomend against the surface though, i've heard poor reviews of battery life and whatnot

I own a Kindle fire HD and a regular Acer Android 4.0.3 tablet. for the same price the Fire outperforms the Acer.
Which model of acer tablet? The earlier acer tablets - nay, every earlier tablet was complete stuff to even the kindle fire hd.
the ads on the homescreen are by no means a nuisance, and if you really don't like the ads, for $50 they can be gone.
$50? $50? You pay $50 for something that shouldn't be there in the first place? (them being a nuisance is a subjective thing so we'll have to agree to disagree on that)
Plus the Nexus has an excessively large resolution screen that is almost useless because the highest resolution most movies are sold at is 1080, not 1600.
Gaming, web browsing,  whatever, the extra screen space is useful.
Also what does it really matter what processor it has as long as it's not a Celeron from 1997? I never experience any slowness or freezes on my kindle.
gaming, high cpu intensive tasks. it might be good for you, it wouldn't be good for me.
Plus there is a $400 price difference between the two so it's really apples to oranges.
The nexus 7 16gb is $200. that's a $0 price difference. It is a similar size (same screen size), not running a bastardized version of android, has a superior processor and graphics card, and doesn't display ads on the loving lock screen - for free!
ok since you seem to know quite a bit about tablets lug

if the only apple I have is an iPod 4g would a nexus 7 be good for me?
sure if you wanna try out android

i would strongly suggest going to a fred meyer or walmart or something and trying each of the tablets out.

Looks like the Wal-Mart carries the Nexus 10. Might get it from there. Or wait for it to be in stock from Google.

Guess iPad.
it will basically never be in stock from google unless you feel like breaking your f5 key with your mouse over the buy button.

No. Do not buy the Nexus 10. You have 2 apple products, and are going for making a 3rd. Just throw another one in there, don't make a kink in your plans.
Kindle Fire HD has a loving fantastic battery. It's also HD (duh), 16GB of built in space, Micro HDMI output, and substantially cheaper than the iPad mini. The only downside is that it has no MicroSD card slot.
It has ads on the loving lock screen, a processor that is not superior to either the nexus devices, or the mini, and "android" which is actually kindledroid, or basically not android.

I have my MacBookPro, iPhone 5, (making a hackintosh after I get some parts so that will run OSX)
Okay, I'm changing my vote from N10 to iPad because it'll work better for you.

No, I'm not kidding: for anyone else on the planet who wasn't already using 3 apple products, I would push them to the other devices.

There is no reason for you to have an android/windows tablet in a sea of apple products.

Go with the iPad or Mini.

Do not go with the surface, and especially not the pro, unless you like being tied to a power cord.

Basically since it works with iTunes, It has iOS, and the iCloud syncs everything over such as Bookmarks, files, etc.
other tablets work with itunes

ios is stuff in my opinion but since you like it okay cool

every android tablet has that same syncing

wait you use a bunch of apple devices right?
which browser, OS, and computer do you usually use? phone too, if you have it.

yes i heard you

which features specifically are interesting to you

btw wifi is included in pretty much any tablet sold in the us.

you would be very hard-pressed to find a tablet without wifi, so you can remove that from your requirements list

The hell you talking about?
some tablets have gigantic ROMs that leave only 4-8 gb usable.

these are typically tablets from stuff companies.

also why do you 'really like' the ipad?

kindle fire is stuff in comparison the N10
kindle fire also displays on the lock screen. and the main screen. and the apps.
n10 displays them on a per-app basis.

ipad is overpriced and locked down

nexus 7 is superior in almost every way to the ipad mini - price, processor, screen

the surface tablet is the first in a line of new stuff - it's a little baby that hasn't fully developed yet.

the n10 is almost always sold out.

go with the ipad if you must, but you're not gonna get a n10 unless you feel like breaking your f5 key.

i'm going with nexus 7
I also need help with this
was thinking about the google nexus
why do most tablets only have like 4-8 GB?
none of the ones listed have options for only 8gb usable. they all come with 16gb models, which, at least for the N7, comes with about 12gb usable.

if you root your nexus device, you can utilize a USB on-the-go cable and use usb storage. works on n7 and n10.

i'm not aware of the ipad supporting this, and you would probably have to abandon the OS of the kindle fire to do this.
the surface has usb ports I think so yeah
