lots of stuff
That's some crazy stuff you've been through

I have personally found my faith in Christ to be a very freeing and rewarding thing, allowing me to be joyful even when things aren't going well.

I'm sorry to hear that, I have a Christian friend that went through the exact same thing. He tries not to act on his desires but has found it very difficult and still struggles to this day. I'm the only person he's told about it and he's constantly afraid of others finding out. It's a difficult place to be. I can only hope you and others in similar situations can find encouragement in the knowledge that Christ's forgiveness is for everyone. Churches are meant to be a place for the broken, but I see more and more simply casting aside those they should be cherishing.

The intelligent design movement is based of a ancient book written by hippes in the desert 2,000 years ago. There is literally NO loving EVIDENCE to support god, or intelligent design for that matter. Everything in science displays that the Earth is billions of years old.
I question whether you've done any research on Intelligent Design, or are just going by what you've heard people say about it.

First, I'd like to get it out of the way and say that evolution does occur, and is observable. We haven't, however, observed evolution on any kind of large scale that is necessary to explain the existence of diverse species.
Anyways, here are some links for evidence of Intelligent Design I got from a quick Google search:

http://www.gotquestions.org/evidence-intelligent-design.html
The Kalam cosmological argument is one of my personal favorites.

So God isn't so merciful. Exacting praise from your creations is considered a bad quality in our society. Does that mean that the God we look up to and praise is not truly benevolent? I mean, he offers everyone a chance to repent their sins and change themselves so they can go to heaven, but true benevolence means unconditional forgiveness. This can be observed in the practices of Gandhi.
You're looking at this from a human perspective. Without God we wouldn't even exist. He created us, and thus is worthy of our utmost respect and praise.

This may be an incorrect way to view things, but I see the point of life as a test. Those who accept Christ pass and those that don't fail. God collects all that pass this "righteous test" in his kingdom. The purpose of life would be voided if forgiveness was dished out unconditionally. And a test really doesn't get much easier than just having faith.
Of course, then the question is why bother with this life in the first place, instead of just sorting people as they are created. And I think the answer to that goes back to free will, as GoldenLego states. God doesn't determine if we'll accept him or turn our back on him, we do.

This is getting a bit off topic though, instead of discussing the details of what Christians believe, maybe we could backtrack and discuss why we think God doesn't/does exist.

Basically, the bible says Jesus abolished the Old Testament when he died.
Read my post at the top of the page. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross made sacrificing and other Old Testament practices no longer necessary. The New Testament is still a continuation of the Old Testament, however, and wasn't even separated out into Old and New until 100 years or so after Jesus' death.

Right here, it actually states a few.
Exactly. Thanks for providing the link.

The new testament calls the old testament a bunch of bullstuff so I'm down with it

I don't know a lot about christianity as I have never studied it in-depth, but does God punish sinners or are they just sent to Hell automatically
There's nothing between death and Hell, if that's what you're asking.

Might as well give some quick concept overviews as most people (even Christians) don't seem to have a great grasp on some concepts. If people can help me nail these down that would be great.
    • God - an infinite, all powerful being that exists everywhere outside of time. God deserves to be praised by his creation (us), and thus he is wrathful against us when we sin
    • sin - literally 'missing the mark' (was originally a term used by archers), describes human failure to be righteous. Anything that falls short of God's standard is sin. In the Old Testament God specified that it was necessary to spill blood to cleanse oneself of sin.
    • soul - a non-material, eternal part of every person that is connected to our body while alive. Humans were made in God's image, and thus have a soul unlike animals etc.
    • Hell - a place where God's wrath is constantly poured out eternal disconnection from God's love
    • Heaven - a place filled with God's love/presence, where evil doesn't exist
    • The gospels - The first 4 books of the New Testament. They each provide eye witness accounts of Christ's teachings and crucifixion. The overlying message of each is that Christ sacrificed himself on the cross to be an eternal sacrifice for all sin. Accepting his sacrifice by putting your faith in him makes us right with God so we may go to Heaven.

    • Old Testament - A collection of stories beginning from God's creation of the world and ending at around 400 BC, written by around 40 main authors
    • New Testament - A collection of eye witness accounts and letters to people and churches written by 9 different people. They usually include references so readers can ask other witnesses to verify the accuracy of these accounts.

This may all sound pretty condemning, but Christianity is really a religion of hope. We have hope that we will be together again after death and live eternally in God's kingdom.[/list]

    -snip-

Good post, we should all be willing to accept that we may be wrong. I'm a Christian but understand it's possible God doesn't exist. Of course, I think it far more likely that God does exist, mainly because of the perfectly complex nature of our world. Even something as simple as my hand amazes me, and I can't logically attribute its creation to long term evolution due to random chance. A lot of things outspoken "Christians" say I usually disagree with, but I feel like it's the outspoken ones that usually have the most radical and illogical viewpoints.

I might as well combat Planr's brother's arguments with my own.
-"Evolution is not supported by the fossil record."
This seems baseless, I've studied evolution and the fossil record does often indicate evolutionary trends. At the same time, the fossil record does not give us a guarantee that the earth is truly millions of years old.
-"The intelligent design movement is based entirely on scientific evidence."
Of course, because intelligent design is a scientific theory. You can't use non scientific evidence to support a scientific theory.
-"The LGBT movement is not for marriage equality because they do not accept child enthusiasts marrying young teenage/pre-teenage kids. They have left those people out so far."
I'm not sure why you picked child enthusiasts out of the lot. The same thing can be said for polygamy, incest, or bestiality.
-"The Crusades are not comparable to Islamic Terrorism because the Crusades are incompatible with Christian doctrine and teaching, while Islamic Terrorism is consistent with Islamic teaching and the example of the prophet Muhammad."
    Yup
-"The existence of evil is actually proof of God’s existence. Because evil exists, that means there is a transcendant standard upon which we can judge that something is good or evil. Otherwise, evil is relative and is just an opinion."
No, if God didn't exist then evil could still exist, it would just be based on the current societal concept of morality. This could of course shift drastically over time, rendering things that were once unspeakably evil into acts of goodness.

What most atheists don't get is that Christians don't think that Christianity is a religion. It's not a set of rules we have to follow, it's grace that is from our Creator that we choose to accept.

On the money, except it definitely is a religion. A religion is defined as a "set of beliefs".

    is charlotte worth watching
    Terrible story but good animation/music.
i think it actually ended well, it's main problem being that it's too loving short
The main character was an idiot. He had tons of powers and was easily the strongest of the ability users, but he still got his eye cut and killed a friend by using collapse. What happened to flying? Passing through walls? Reversing time? He could have easily dodged his assailant. Not to mention at the end he saves the girl being shot at but just lets the crossbow bolts hit himself. He also could have healed his eye and gone back to before that one dude died, saving everyone by starting the worldwide plundering early. The show just completely fails to create any sense of real logic.

I'm excited for the new season though, K looks like it'll be a good time :)

You need to use the bot coaster type. Not sure where the download is but I'm sure someone has them. Jajabinks used them for his theme park last year.

Oops I read the question wrong. Deleting bricks instead of killing them should stop the client from mispredicting the build's demise, anyway.

That is how Blockland normally handles brick deletion, you'd need to disable brick deletion chaining if you want the structure to remain intact. Dragonoid's deletion launcher method is better though, because disabling chaining server-wide produces undesirable results (breaks ctrl+z, duplicator, etc).
