Forum Games / BLOODLUST: Off The Rails [BLF Derails BLOODLUST]
« on: September 04, 2015, 08:45:25 PM »
Welcome back to BLOODLUST!
We're having another go at BLOODLUST again, but the objective is to massively derail the plot.

Also bad MS Paint drawings to accompany most of the updates

Your grand adventure starts here as you step outside the door of your house---

Don't tell me the Paperboy is going to hit us with a newspaper.

W-What? How did you know?

A-Anyways, You've got errands to run and a violent nature to control. You move to your car when a paperboy on a bicycle throws a newspaper at your front door, but misses and accidentally hits you in the face instead.
Enraged by being hit in the face with a newspaper. +5 Bloodlust.

The paperboy really DID have the audacity to do that! You forgeter. I'm taking control of this stuff! Its time for a change in management!

H-Hey! You can't do that!

How do I get away from this stuffhole of a town?

But you have errands to run!

BLOODLUST: 5% (Normal)
Sven Svenson is overall HEALTHY
Head: HEALTHY
Torso: HEALTHY
Arms: HEALTHY
Legs: HEALTHY

Not really sure how to describe this, but in the first BLOODLUST I generally didn't allow outrageous actions like going on a genocide crusade or other stuff I can't remember(No way I'm digging through 154 pages of the old thread). That restriction has been mostly lifted since we're derailing the plot of BLOODLUST after all.

Quote
GENERAL PLOT OVERVIEW OF THE FIRST TIME AROUND
Sven Svenson does errands like returning a book to the library. Book Protesters burn the library down with Sven still inside(forcing him to murder the Book Protesters), a US Army Drone blows up the Post Office, and an entire grocery store is found dead. Sven Svenson briefly becomes a police officer before being fired soon after or something, and pisses off the Cartel. Cartel Gunmen attack the funeral, Sven Svenson destroys the Cartel in retaliation. Sgt. KillBot is killed in a police chase.

This is where things get really confusing because I can't remember the exact order of events.

Sven Svenson discovers Only Sane Man/Snidley Whiplash/Traitor Joe, and adopts Kiss-Kiss from a pet store. Sven Svenson eventually goes to the Nuclear Power Plant, frees the Metagamers, and is goaded by an AI into nuking Mars. Sven Svenson tries to sue the AI for making him nuke mars, and is eventually kidnapped by the Liberal Crime Squad and saved from brainwashing by George Washington. In an attempt to get his old job back, Sven Svenson goes to the Crack House and collects "evidence" while beating a bunch of gangsters and entrepreneur s in a dance off. Sven Svenson goes to Firehouse Subs with Only Sane Man and RKOs the stuff out of a waiter, accidentally killing him. Sven Svenson is chased by a Communist Sympathizer and his buddies.

Oh, and somewhere along the line Sven Svenson discovers an AI in his smartphone that absolutely hates him. And Sven gets a entrepreneur  Staff, too. A bunch of Conservatives eventually rob a bank, Sven destroys the Conservative Crime Squad, Sven Svenson nukes Venturon City(ending 1), Sven breaks the fourth wall, gets murdered by Swampivorous or something, accidentally causes the universe to fall apart, and ends up in a Communist America. Sven is eventually arrested and breaks out of the courthouse, only to be attacked by the Gunslinger. The Gunslinger is taken away by a SWAT Team and beaten severely, but Sven saves the Gunslinger and quickly befriends him. Sven accidentally unleashes his consciences, which fight amongst eachother. Joseph Stalin and Riddler fight in mech suits.

Sven Svenson rescues Traitor Joe from a bunch of Secret Police operatives, and Traitor Joe flees the city. Evil Conscience possesses Sven and forces him to brutally murder an entire arms factory, forcing Sven to engage in an imaginary battle to purge Evil Conscience. Sven meets the Patriots of Venturon and tries to retake America from the Communists, but Joseph Stalin punts Sven into space with one kick. Sven runs into Frank Ruby and Nameless McRedshirt as he robs the Bank of Capitalism, but spares them because he has a heart. Sven then goes to the Space Crackhouse to rescue his Consciences.

After the Space Crackhouse thing, Sven gathers up a few hobos or something to break his fellow Patriots out of a Communist Prison, and pretty much massacres everyone with a SniperCannon. Sven eventually attracts a high amount of heat, and Stalin sends a force to kill him. Sven and Metagamer Guard build a reset button to reset the world back to the way it was. Stalin is killed by Sven, and Riddler shows up too late to kill Stalin. After pushing the reset button, Sven Svenson does errands again and has a boss battle with a snake. Sven then discovers the Ventilators, a Metagamer-like faction that is determined to kill him. Sven Svenson forgets up the Ventilator Boss, his War Mech, and the rest of the Ventilators. Sven then fights the Embodiment of BLOODLUST and the Omniconscience, and The Gunslinger is killed. Sven takes control of the Fourth Wall and becomes a reality warping God.

Theres also a point where Sven goes to Russia to kill President Rush and Vladimir Putin, but I can't remember exactly where. Sven becomes president and makes Dunkey his VP.

CHARACTER OVERVIEW(everyone I can remember off the top of my head so far)
The Gunslinger: Some guy with a massive revolver. A useful companion that was unfortunately killed fighting the Embodiment of BLOODLUST.
Only Sane Man: First encountered when Sven wears a turban in public and gets mocked for it. Kidnapped by national socialists and eventually rescued. Companion.
Kiss-Kiss: A cat from the pet store. Companion.
Traitor Joe: The Second Amendment worshipping gunstore owner.
President Rush: The batstuff insane president.
Ventilator Boss: Leader of the Ventilators, tried to kill you with a warmech and failed.
Ventilator Assassin: The woman in a hoodie at the Grocery Store that failed to kill you.
Sgt. KillBot: Corrupt police officer. Was your partner when you became a cop. Unfortunately blown away in the middle of a police chase.
Cartel Boss: Cartel leader, had a golden entrepreneur  staff, killed after you engaged in some entrepreneur  to entrepreneur  warfare.
Joseph Stalin: Takes over the United States and turns it into Communism, has a mech suit that blasts Hammers and Sickles and is capable of converting people to Communism instantly.
Dunkey: Random guy selected as your Vice President. Companion.
The Consciences: Good Conscience, Neutral Conscience, Evil Conscience. They fight amongst themselves.
Metagamer Guard: One of many Metagamers. Knows about the Fourth Wall. Companion.
The Nurse: A (male) nurse at the Hospital that gives you an insane bill to pay and demands that you pay in organs if you can't pay in cash.
Embodiment of BLOODLUST: The final boss: Your own bloodlust.
Omniconscience: All your consciences morphed into one.
Communist Sympathizer: Chases you down after you RKO'd the stuff out of a waiter and killed him.

0-29% Bloodlust: Completely sane and nonviolent. You appear normal. Kills and nonlethal takedowns are swift and merciful.

30-49% Bloodlust: Mostly sane. Kills and nonlethal takedowns are swift and slightly violent yet still merciful.

50-69% Bloodlust: Somewhat sane. Kills/Takedowns are violent and less merciful. The speed at which kills/takedowns are executed gets slowed down slightly. You are visibly shaken.

70-89% Bloodlust: Very little sanity, and it is very visible. Kills are noticeably slow and violent. Nonlethal takedowns are painful. You appear limp and livid. Other people are suspicious of you. For example, civilians will question what happened to you, gangsters will verbally warn you to stay back, and cops may bring you in for questioning.

90-99% Bloodlust: Insane. You sport a visibly deranged appearance with a psychotic grin full of teeth and eyes wide to go along with it. Civilians will panic at the sight of you and the chances of them calling the police is higher, cops will try to arrest you, and gangsters may shoot you on sight out of fear. Kills are ultraviolent and even slower, and takedowns may involve crippling limbs.

100% Bloodlust: Completely insane, and it is impossible not to notice. Kills are very drawn out, and this leaves you extremely vulnerable to being attacked. Nonlethal takedowns involve you beating someone to an inch of their life. Unarmed civilians panic and immediately call the police, armed civilians and gangsters will shoot you on sight, and the cops will do whatever it takes to stop you.

What is Liberal Crime Squad?
(Modified version of Johnathan S. Fox's description below)

Liberal Crime Squad is a satirical open-source text-based modern strategic political RPG with bad pickup lines and bad graphics.

You play as the founder of a left-wing terrorist cell devoted to saving the United States from its descent into Conservative Insanity though writing to newspapers, volunteering, playing protest music, seduction, flag burning, graffiti, hacking, kidnapping, torture, murder, brainwashing, and other common and uncommon activist activities. You and your Liberal squadmates win when the laws of the US are made to "Elite Liberal".

Your rivals, the Conservative Crime Squad, are right-wing M16-toting Rednecks. If the Conservative Agenda is fully fulfilled,  an Arch-Conservative Amendment repealing the Constitution and making the United States into the Confederate States (where instead of a president, Ronald Reagan is King for all time, Congress is made up of CEOs and televangelists, and anyone may write a petition to Jesus for a redress of grievances, because no one else will be listening), will be passed, ending the game due to the abject failure of the Liberal Agenda.

The Stalinist Comrade Squad is a third, unfortunately unimplemented faction in Liberal Crime Squad. They are supposed to be "final bosses" that appear when the Liberal Revolution is almost complete and seize control of it. Failure to stop the Stalinists will result in a game over where you are deported to a gulag in newly annexed Canada.

There are four versions of Liberal Crime Squad worth looking at:
Version 4.07.0 is the most stable release.
Version 4.07.4 is a beta release that adds the ability to play across multiple cities, visit the White House, and assassinate the President if you so wish.
LCS R855 is an "Unofficial" release by scrdest. It adds gameplay tweaks, music, and graphical enhancements such as more colors(Damaged clothes are colored yellow, bloody clothes are highlighted, seduction lines have a wider range of colors, etc) and enhanced ASCII Art for some of the newspaper stories. It also has an unfinished version of the Stalinist Comrade Squad. This is the version of LCS I personally recommend.
The Nightly Version of LCS is the most up to date, but it requires you to compile it yourself. Contains the "augmentations" feature, gameplay tweaks, and bug fixes.

Other things about LCS
-Theres a wiki for all information about LCS. There is also a Tv Tropes Page.
-If Free Speech Laws go Arch-Conservative, all swearing is replaced with Conservative Politically Correct substitutes.
-Earlier versions of LCS let you seduce dogs, genetic abominations, and tanks. This bug was soon patched.
-Theres a "Nightmare Mode" difficulty where the US is a hellish dystopia where Death Squad officers patrol the streets executing all criminals on the spot, Firefighters are Firemen that suppress free speech with flamethrowers, the CIA is the Ministry of Love, Prisons are Reeducation Facilities and forced labor camps...
-If the Death Penalty goes Arch-Conservative, Liberals are executed with cruel and unusual punishments.
-Liberal Crime Squad is based off of the Symbionese Liberation Army.
-There is a lot more to LCS than meets the eye at first glance. You just have to find it. Or look it up on the wiki.

This should do for the OP. I'll probably add more to it later.

What is "Quest to Save Kompressor"?
A forum adventure involving saving Kompressor, of course. QSK will also be used for testing some mechanics such as skills, health, armor, and weapon damage. This will be text-based with the occasional image thrown in most of the time.

Prologue: Badspot

"Are we ready to film now? We now have what we need for leverage."
"Cameras are ready. Preparing to hijack the broadcasts in 3...2...1..."

August 2013. The anniversary of the "Shadows and Shaders" update. Badspot watches the television at a party moments before being rudely interrupted.

"This is a message to Badspot! We have waited an entire year for the return of terrain! It is now the anniversary of the Version 21 update and nothing has happened! We have decided to take further action."
"All we want is the return of our beloved Bedroom! Is that so much to ask?"
"Apparently it is too much to ask for! Kompressor will die right here, and so will you, Badspot!"

Badspot attempts to deactivate the ID's of the hostage takers, only to find out that it doesn't work.

"What the...?"

While Badspot ponders what to do next, a thunderstorm rolls in. A Blockhead armed with the Mini-Nuke approaches and fires!

Badspot survives the nuking with massive injuries and goes flying until he smacks right into Afghanistan. Badspot struggles to stand back up and is confronted by two more terrorists!

Quick explanation for the stats here: Running out of health obviously kills you, running out of stamina knocks you out, and running out of Mental Health is like going insane, having your mind fried, being brainwashed,or panicking depending on the attack. Skills affect damage or effect(Musical instruments), accuracy(most weapons), or how likely something is to succeed(speech, dodge, etc)

Finally got the old 3DS fixed(only for Flipnote Studio, since I'm too poor for a drawing tablet and adobe flash) and the first thing I realize is that its impossible to do layers. The only helpful advice the tutorial flipnotes get is to hold down the left bumper, but that doesn't seem to give any options for layers no matter what screen I go to. Tapping on "3D" doesn't offer any options related to layers, either. Anyone who's used Flipnote Studio on a 3DS that can help?

Thinking of doing a LP of X-COM:UFO Defense(using OpenXCOM, a open-source clone that isn't as bug-ridden as the original UFO Defense and is easily moddable) with GIFs and screenshots. Modifications like new terrain, weapons, and a sort-of EXALT faction(Men In Black mod) will be used. How interested would you be?

Example pictures:

When all you have is weak ballistic weaponry versus Cyberdiscs, this can only end well.

Cyberdisc reaction fire

Forumers will be allowed to submit names for X-COM soldiers and hope that they don't get their soldier's faces melted off, which is unlikely. X-COM soldiers are infamous for not being able to shoot worth a damn and having a high rate of casualties.

X-COM:UFO Defense(UFO:Enemy Unknown in Europe) is a 1994 Turn Based Tactics game known for it's difficulty. Anyone can and will die in X-COM, even with the Flying Suit(best armor in the unmodded game). All it takes is a single lucky Plasma shot(Weapons do between 0% to 200% of their listed damage depending on how much the RNG hates you) and your Commander-rank soldier is gone. Sectoids/Etherals like to abuse their Psionic powers and panic/mind control your soldiers constantly, Cyberdiscs are accurate, hard to kill, and explode on death, Mutons are tough against everything but Plasma, Sectopods are resistant to plasma weapons and can dish out tons of pain, Chryssalids can instantly zombify your soldiers and potentially start a local zombie apocalypse, and so on.

X-COM wins by researching (weapons, corpses, interrogating live aliens, etc) and finishing off the aliens in one final battle at Cydonia once they research and launch the Avenger craft. Along the way, X-COM will have to stop Terror Missions, assault Alien Bases and downed UFOs, and survive multiple Base Defense missions.

Is there a way to set max ammo(Gamemode Zombie's ammo system is limited ammo but no reloading) for specific weapons if you use the ammo system Gamemode_Zombie has?

For example, I want to make the first gun have 60-ish or so ammo and the second gun have 20-ish or so ammo. How would I do that?

I can't remember the name of it, but there was this addon that enabled prints to work for all sizes, and not just 1x1/2x2/etc. Anyone have it?

Forum Games / BLOODLUST [Quest to Save Kompressor: Soon.]
« on: June 08, 2015, 12:28:09 PM »
BLOODLUST has finally finished it's run after 154 pages. From a random morning on June 8 to near the end of summer vacation on July 29, it was a blast. Quest to Save Kompressor will be next.

What is BLOODLUST?
A little interactive adventure based on managing your bloodlust and generally doing whatever you want in an alternate universe where America has completely gone to stuff. Corporations get away with everything, Police forces get slaps on the wrist for murdering minorities, everyone is paranoid of terrorists and communists to the point where it negatively impacts their lives(witch hunts, for example), and so on.

The BLOODLUST meter acts somewhat similar to a Sanity Meter.

The higher your bloodlust, the more the chance of accidentally killing someone during a nonlethal takedown.

Bloodlust is increased by violent actions(killing people, attacking them, etc) and decreased over time or by doing "Pacifist" actions (knocking people out or incapacitating them, most nonviolent actions).

Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement will focus on arresting you and will only fire on you if it means preserving other lives(Ex. human shields)

Police Officers use pepper spray, tasers, batons, and dogs for less than lethal force.
SWAT Teams use flashbangs, shotgun tasers(they exist), beanbag rounds or any other "less than lethal" ammo, armored vehicles with water hoses, and tear gas.
FBI Agents may be called in for assaulting strongholds, aircraft hijackings, hostage rescue, or if SWAT has failed.
The National Guard can be called in if the situation gets too extreme(terrorism, riots that even SWAT can't handle, massacring too many SWAT teams, etc). National Guard troops are called as a last resort and will shoot on sight.

Your grand adventure starts here as you step outside the door of your house. You've got errands to run and a violent nature to control. You move to your car when a paperboy on a bicycle throws a newspaper at your front door, but misses and accidentally hits you in the face instead. Enraged by being hit in the face with a newspaper. +5 Bloodlust.

"Sorry about that!" The paperboy shouts as he rides around throwing newspapers at other houses. You have the feeling that the day can only get worse from here.

Nearby places of interest: Nextdoor neighbor's house and the rich starfish who lives across the street from you. You see his golden statues of himself mocking you.

Nearby things of interest: Your car, paperboy, road, neighbor's car, Rich Neighbor's statue(fragile).

Thinking of doing a forum adventure based around managing bloodlust/sanity, but I'm not sure how to implement it. My current idea is this:

0-29% Bloodlust: Completely sane and nonviolent. You appear normal. Kills and nonlethal takedowns are swift and merciful.

30-49% Bloodlust: Mostly sane. Kills and nonlethal takedowns are swift and slightly violent yet still merciful.

50-69% Bloodlust: Somewhat sane. Kills/Takedowns are violent and less merciful. The speed at which kills/takedowns are executed gets slowed down slightly. You are visibly shaken.

Bloodlust is increased by violent actions(killing people, attacking them, etc) and decreased over time or by doing "Pacifist" actions (knocking people out or incapacitating them, most nonviolent actions).

Police Officers, SWAT Teams, and other Law Enforcement officers will only shoot in self defense or if you are directly threatening a civilian(using them as a human shield, for example). Cops can use pepper spray, dogs, and tasers to subdue you while SWATs will use flashbangs, shotgun tasers, beanbag rounds, plastic bullets, armored vehicles with water hoses, and tear gas. National Guard troops will be deployed if you somehow cause enough chaos to warrant that(Running around blowing entire buildings up, massacring enough SWATs, somehow amassing a army of followers and laying waste to the town, terrorism, etc).
