Off Topic / Laptop RAM questions

As of late, I've realized that my 1 gig of RAM isn't really cutting it. I want to upgrade but I'm not really sure what to get.

I have Windows XP. I've heard it only supports up to 2 gigs, but I'm not sure. I want 4 gigs, but if the maxium is less then that, I'll be ok with that also.

It says DIMM A DDR2 only. Not exactly sure what it means.

As we don't really have to many "insane weapons" I figured this would be a nice one.

For starts, just by clicking you do a "punch" animation (Like the Heavy TF2 fist mod thing).

But if you hold the left mouse button down for more than a second and release, orange particles come out of the player's hand when it punches and the classic "FALCON PUNCH!" sound is played.

This can easily be accomplished, but because I have no idea how to animate, I'm leaving this to someone else that is more capable.

Modification Help / Disableing crouch animation and jet particles

Is it possible to disable the crouch animation, but leave the effects? I would like to create a "Sprinting player" that would sprint when you hold down the crouch button?

And I would like to know if I can make it so that a player can jet, but the jet particles would not come out of it's feet. Thanks.

Since I didn't see a topic for it in the first couple of pages, I thought I would make one.

Anywho, the beta comes out 8 days from today. So I was wondering what your opinions were before it comes out? A few days after the beta is out, I'll be asking your opinions to get a "Before and After" effect. Also, before it's released, I thought it might be good to compile a list of gamertags of people who plan on participating.

I think it would be nice if someone could at a server mod that would change the timescale of the server for an amount of time, then set it back to the original time.

There would be a menu in the server prefs for this. It would look something like this:

1st Timescale: ___
2nd Timescale: ___
1st Timescale runtime: ___
2nd Timescale runtime: ___



To set it up, it would look like this:


1st Timescale: 1
2nd Timescale: .5
1st Timescale runtime: 30
2nd Timescale runtime: 10

So, the server would set the timescale to 1.
30 seconds later, it would set it to .5.
10 seconds after, the loop would reset and the timescale would be set back to 1.

Pretty much, 1 person is "infected". If they kill someone, that person is also "infected". This continues until all players are infected. Uninfected players score points for killing the infected players. Infected players score no points, so they want to infect everyone as fast as possible. The last person infected becomes the first infected in the next round.
