I might start a band when I learn to play an instrument. ;)

Just as a suggestion, you could turn up the crouch speed to about twice the player speed. Then, if it is possible, disable the crouch animation so the player "Sprints" when you hold the crouch button. Also, if there is some way you could hook up the crouch to that blue energy bar, you could have the bar go down when you hold the crouch button so that it would have to recharge.
