Off Topic / Can't Think of an Argumentative Topic
« on: November 18, 2011, 10:01:20 AM »
hello all
I need to choose and research a topic for Monday. The topic has to be persuasive (I have to persuade something in it). I've been searching for a week straight now and nothing sparks my interest. It has to be something not overly used though (e.g the death penalty, smoking).

Please help me! :C

Off Topic / The Official Blockland Christmas Thread - Christmas!
« on: November 07, 2011, 12:32:12 PM »

That's right folks, it's the Blockland Christmas thread.

Freeze, what are you thinking? It's only November the 7th, why are you making a Christmas thread now?

Yes yes, I know, a christmas thread in November? Think of it this way: It's only six and a half weeks away. November is when snow starts to come and 'Santa' starts 'making' presents. There is no other holidays (unless you have a religion and something special comes up) in between now and christmas. this is the time when people start thinking about what they want for christmas and just generally getting into that christmas mood! :D

Christmas is about presents, family, food, snow and happiness. The Christians believe it was the birth of Jesus which is why some people and schools put on 'nativities' where the re-enact what they think happened. A lot of other people just celebrate it as a holiday when 'santa' comes in the night with presents. Then enjoy a lovely full feast of food as lunch.

My nana (granny) and aunty are coming over for christmas for me. :D
Does anyone know any good vegetarian christmas dishes, I've not eaten meat in a while and want to keep it going, it'll be hard at christmas lunch but I'll keep going! :c

My wishlist:
New Computer
Valve & Dark Horse Presents: The Sacrifice and other Steam Powered Stories
A £5 laser pen :D

And if anyone could be so kind so gift me portal 2 over steam it'd be nice. :D

Anyone got snow yet?

/Discuss snow, christmas, presents and everything like such!

Off Topic / Charity Talk
« on: November 01, 2011, 03:14:28 PM »
Okay so first of all: This post will probably make me sound like a real richard but it's not what it seems. I still think charity is a great thing and I still donate to it like a good man would. I just feel I need to say this or it will come out badly in public.

Onto the story: Today we had a 'talk', an assembly of some sort. For this we miss PE again (which isn't THAT bad 'cause we are doing gymnastics right now but I'd still rather being doing it than sitting in a warm gym hall). The talk was about a charity that helps kids with disabilities. Some women came in and talked to us about them. About what they do and how it helps. About how we were all wanted to go on a sponsored walk for it. Now this is all good and well but this went on for about FIFTY MINUTES. Five or ten of those minutes we watched a dvd about all the kids and what they had to say. What I really think is HORRIBLE is that they take pictures of all the kids and put it on the wall, the ones who pass away they put a butterfly/dragonfly on their photo. Let's just think about that for a second, they are putting dead children's photos on the wall. I just think that A. That must be horrible for the parents and B. I think it's very sad. While they were all talking there was also this consistent buzzing noise coming from the speakers which nobody bothered to try and fix. The seats were also very uncomfortable.

Basically I had to sit through a boring uncomfortable talk about charity which I'm pretty sure NOBODY enjoyed. It makes a more negative impression than it makes a positive one. This isn't what charity should be about! It is supposed to be about giving and happiness. Not giving an excuse to make all of us bored to death. I know for a fact everyone would have gone on the walk and donated if they had just given out a letter. Partly because it's for charity and partly because it's probably going to be fun. It would have saved so much time and happiness. I don't think that schools and representatives understand that nobody wants to sit through a boring talk that doesn't help AT ALL.

So now I'm going on a long walk on November the 30th and hoping to get at least £20 for the charity. Maybe £30 if I'm lucky. Why couldn't they have just sent out a note explaining it? Why?

Discuss long, boring and useless talks.

Off Topic / iPod Touch - Restoring Photo's from Camera Roll?
« on: October 13, 2011, 01:09:48 PM »
Heyo.
Recently I tried to update to iOS 5. As you may know this includes deleting everything and then re-downloading it from a backup. I have a back-up but about 1/4 through re-downloading the back-up it stops and gives me either error 1 or -1. I now have iOS 5 but with none of my app data or photos. The app data I don't mind as much but I NEED my photos. I still have the back-up from when I had them so basically, how do I manually restore my iPod from that (older, because the iPod automatically took another one when I first synced my apps) back-up?
I've also just realized that the back-up was taken in iOS 4.3.3 and my iPod is now on iOS 5 so is that a problem? I shouldn't think so because that's the back-up that the update tried to use when restoring my iPod for iOS 5.
Help me, I need my photos. :C

Help With New Computer Mark II
Hello all.
Some of you may remember me talking about getting a new computer here.
Ethan found me a nice custom system. The problem is the link doesn't work anymore and I can't seem to re-find the correct parts. I need your guy's help to re-find it. If there are any improvements to be made I'll happily accept them as well (like if something's price has dropped and I can upgrade a part or something). Remember I'm getting it for christmas so if a part is on sale use the normal price when adding it up.
I think the total once I upped the PSU by a bit came around to £518.
Thank's in advance! :D

And yes I tried PM-ing Ethan but he doesn't want to reply. :c

First off: THIS IS NOT A HATE THREAD TO TROGTOR. HE IS AN OKAY GUY. THIS IS JUST POINTING OUT SOME ASPECTS THAT ARE RECENTLY ANNOYING.

Trogtor, an okay guy. The problem is he makes way to many jokes and thinks he is the funniest guy in the world. I would post quotes but there are too many just look at his latest posts and you'll see what I mean. I think this is getting out of hand and just plain annoying.

Also, I know he made a topic to say negative things but that isn't really a serious topic. This topic is serious.

Off Topic / Doctor Who Thread - Spoilers
« on: September 24, 2011, 10:28:15 AM »

Info

Doctor Who is a British television show (that is now airing more in America). It features a time and space travelling hero with the species of a timelord who goes by the name of 'The Doctor' or just 'Doctor'. This timelord when dying has a feature to change his appearance and 'regenerate' (allowing a different actor to take the role), though if in the process he his shot or killed in some other way he will die forever. His race was killed long ago in a timewar, a giant war between the timelords and the Daleks, the Doctor's most feared enemy. Even though the Doctor was a rouge timelord he still misses his counterparts. He travels in a bigger on the inside police box named 'The TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space)'. Normally he has one or two companions (ranging from a human, to an alien, to a talking tin dog) with him who eventually die or leave. The show started in 1963 and ended in 1989. It was when revived in 2005. So far the show has had 11 Doctors and the current Doctor is played by Matt Smith.
